The Azatrax TS5 circuit controls trackside signals at a dual-track control point, or dual-track intermediate ("distant") signals. This quick overview produced by Model Railroader magazine shows how the TS5 is a simple solution for a complex signal installation.
In-depth information about the TS5 and related model railroad signal circuits can found at

I wonder if this would be any use for British Model Railways, seems very handy for colour lights

I like this system, but does it work with Kato Unitrack turnouts? Thanks
@azatrax
@azatrax 3 года назад
Assuming your Kato turnouts are operated by an electric remote, use a latching relay to provide the feedback to the signal system. The relay must be a single coil latching type, such as Azatrax LARY-DCS on this page, www.azatrax.com/latching-relay.html#LARY-DCS The track used on the video is Tomix N scale, very similar to Kato. Sensor installation suggestions are shown here, www.azatrax.com/detector-installation.html

I have this type of "scissors crossover" in my layout. I operate the atlas turnout with servo motors. I want to use this TS5 in my layout. But I am confused with wiring.
@azatrax
@azatrax 3 года назад
Two on/off electrical switches need to be connected to the TS5 circuit board. One electrical switch for each of the two crossover tracks. These tell the TS5 if a crossover track is in use, or if the turnouts are lined for the main line. Your servo controller may have built-in electrical switches (sometimes called "feedback" switches or contacts), check with the manufacturer if you're not sure. A connection diagram for these switches is shown on the lower part of pg 4 of the TS5 installation guide, www.azatrax.com/install-TS5.pdf

I have a double cross over so I am looking at the azatrax TS5 for the crossovers..now signals down the line and throughout the rest of the layout on a dual track mainline bi-directional running, I would still use the TS5 controller? I am planning of two dual crossovers in the layout and three other signal locations...Also, I am using Rapido Rail Crew switch machines will these work with the TS5?
@azatrax
@azatrax 3 года назад
Yes, the TS5 will control bi-directional double-track signals at a control point where you have one or more turnouts, and for distant ("intermediate") signals where there are no turnouts. All signals can be linked together. The Railcrew switch machines have the required electrical contacts built in (the blue, white and yellow wires), so no additional components are needed.

Does it work with Switch tracks that aren't a crossover? Like switches that make a siding.
@azatrax
@azatrax 3 года назад
You can have one or two signaled tracks coming into one end of your control point, and up to three signaled tracks coming in at the other end. You can have one or two crossovers, or none. You can have any number of non-signaled sidings. Several different configurations are shown on this page, www.azatrax.com/control-point-signal-circuit.html Any crossover or branch can be omitted from any of the configurations. It will make no difference to the TS5, it is only aware of a crossover or other turnout when there is a contact closure indicating the turnout is in the 'Reverse' position. Otherwise, the TS5 assumes the routing is for the main. Thanks for asking, hope that helps.

Do you think I could do this with my 5x8 layout?
@azatrax

A lot of accessories can be crammed into a 5x8, depending on your scale and imagination.

Will any of this work with a DC only layout? None of the detector systems, not even Atlas, will work with DC.
@azatrax
@azatrax Год назад
Hi Michael, Because infrared light ("IR") is used for detecting the trains, the signal system is independent of track power. So it works with DC, DCC or AC track power as well as "dead rail" (battery-on-board) where there is no track power.

@@azatraxthank you. The next question is, since my Atlas N scale signals are all common cathode, will your system work with these, or must all the signals be replaced with common anode?
@azatrax
@azatrax 9 месяцев назад
The TS2, TS3 and TS5 circuits automatically adjust to either common anode or common cathode signals, as long as all signals that are connected to a circuit board are of the same polarity.

Can I use this on 3 rail O scale?
@azatrax
@azatrax 2 года назад
The signal system is not connected to the rails, so it works with three rails, two rails or monorail. You do need a way to tell the system when a turnout is in the diverging position. This is done with an electrical contact linked to the switch machine, or with a latching relay that is wired to the switch machine. www.azatrax.com/latching-relay.html
