The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) admits agents "did not follow correct screening protocols" with Colorado's six-time Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen.
Van Dyken-Rouen says TSA agents at Denver International Airport humiliated her.
She took to social media Sunday to detail her experience getting through security.
She said agents made her go through a full body search even though she has Pre check.

Damn...stole my "thunder". But that, unfortunately, is obviously. Furthermore, if a mundane, or even worse, one perceived to be less 'credible' or worthy of having his rights defended (like white, Christian males) complained on social media as did Ms. VanDyken-Rouen, at minimum the next flight they'd be targeted for 'special consideration; or placed on the "No-Fly" list, or, if suspected of being a terrorist and ARRESTED by the Feds, taken on a "Diesel Ride" from which he might not survive.

I was once told I would be traveling to the mid west for a training conference on corrections (I was a correctional captain)I was given my travel plans which included a flight out of Phx, I then told the warden during a meeting that I would not be flying and would check out a car or take a bus, when she asked why I said I will NOT be treated as a terrorist by the TSA, or have my basic human rights violated by an agency that promotes harassment of citizens of the US, and to this day even after retirement I still will NOT fly until they do away this the tsa bullies.

Most commendable. However, I don't think it will make much difference until an entire flight sells only a handful of seats regularly - you can bet the airlines would exercise a little leverage then... start calling upon the federal government to fix the problems with TSA...

I’m in a wheelchair and fly very often. I fly the same flights at the same airports every week for months at a time. I am TSA pre-checked. I have found tremendous variances between TSA at different Airports. At smaller airports the TSA officers are usually much more reasonable. Since I fly the same flights week after week and am in a wheelchair the TSA agents recognize me after a few weeks and will address me by name and act appropriately (since they know me). At other airports the TSA officers will know me and address me by name and still pat me down and disassemble my wheelchair to put on a show for the people in line to demonstrate how through the screening is. TSA in these instances only reinforces my impression that it is only for show, not for safety. You may ask “Why don’t you complain to TSA officials about this behavior?” The answer is I fly on the same flights every week and I don’t want to start missing flights due to “enhanced screening”.

It would appear that all TSA staff should be retrained on a regular basis and any TSA staff member who fails to follow guidelines should be fined and sent on a retraining course and on a second failure have their employment terminated. It is not enough to just apologise, they should pay compensation to those subjected to excessive search routines.

A refresher course doesn't help if the person isn't listening. Retraining is ineffective if people knowingly ignore the rules just because they can. An agency's pledge to "do better" loses credibility when they keep repeating the same mistakes.

On our last vacation be got patted down only half way through, because he was almost crying and agent felt guilty about making so much stress to a kid. TSA is not backing the horse up enough. If this job is important to the airlines, what about the basic job interview. Is it thorough enough to screen out people who aren’t suitable to deal with peoples short comings. Firemen and police officers are trained differently, but both jobs let them see people at their worse. These TSA workers would have it even harder. How can they have the time to see and understand every situation. If these incidents with TSA workers keep happening, then the company isn’t able to move fast enough to 1) hire people with better character, 2) provide a better training program that actually makes better workers, and 3) they are not removing these workers that are causing these incidents. There is federal oversight over airports. Since these are clear violations of the civil rights laws and the disability laws why is there no state or federal intervention. It’s true that when your traveling you are usually not in a position to stay and do something about your treatment. But the people affected by this mistreatment need to see their congress representatives in their districts. Complain to them. Ask them to contact the appropriate federal agencies. Is TSA the only company to handle this type of work, or can another company be asked to take over the contract. If they are escaping penalties for their actions see who is protecting them. How high up would the possible cover up go. In all the months I’ve been hearing about the problems with TSA, there are no reports of legal action against them. If this is happening then You Tube should be posting that information too.
