TSMC is reportedly planning an advanced packaging plant in Pingtung. According to a Chinese-language media report, TSMC is in the process of choosing a site in the southern county. The rumored expansion comes amid surging demand for TSMC’s Chip on Wafer on Substrate packaging.
If the rumor proves true, the Pingtung plant would be TSMC’s seventh advanced packaging factory. Addressing the rumor, Pingtung County government said the time was ripe to invest in the county. It said Pingtung has all the land, water, and electricity TSMC needs, and that local universities are ready to supply talent.
