I still remember me there. On 24 December 2004, visiting vivekananda rock just hours before (we weren't allowed to. Enter thirivalluvar because of high winds). And our boat was the last to return from rock, after which seas became very violent. God blessed me and I'm still alive with him.

It's a sad reminder of the day. On 25th December,2004 we boarded Coromandel Express from Howrah to Chennai. Was about to reach Kanyakumari on 28th Morning - after a day of relaxation in Chennai. Around 11 in the morning of 26th, the coach attendant informed us that some earthquake event has taken place in Chennai and there might be disruptions. We reached Chennai on 26th evening and after reaching hotel , what we heard and saw over the news - completely shocked us. We could not go to Kanyakumari anymore and stayed in the hotel for 5 days till we re-planned the whole tour and travelled to Madurai. It's a day, I will never forget. Those feelings will never go away.

While I'm watching this, TSUNAMI doesn't scare me. But those female voices in the background gave a tingle through my spine... Though she knew a disaster was going to happen, She didn't give up on the children. I appreciate that lady's effort to calm down those children. That's why we always keep female one step higher than men.

That wall of water was actually terrifying to see. Most tsunami videos show a much more sedate ( though just as deadly) water wave approach. This video visualizes what a real tsunami looks like in my head when I think of the definition.

My father was a lorry driver. On that day he had a work at After hearing the news that Chennai was under a tsunami we were so tensed plus he was not even lifting our call. After few hrs he lifted our call telling that he was chilling with his friends in some random friend and laughing at us being so tensed. I can't imagine the amount of pain others felt who lost there loved ones

my bro felt the power of tsunami.he went to the beach for playing cricket in dec 26 2004..he said smaller waves hit first sea water entered into the seashore slowly.after 15 mins large waves hit.he doesn't know what is tsunami.mind said something is going to happen.so he moved from the sea shore.nature gives time to escape from the disaster.survived peoples were stayed in his school.when crossed his school we heard the crying sound from everywhere at day and night.they lost their families,properties,house etccc...

This is the huge wave I don't wanna see in my entire life. The wave screams so much disaster, I also saw videos of Tsunami in Japan yes its also scary but the wave here is something, this is really what a TSUNAMI wave I imagined since I was young and i didn't know this kind of wave really exists. Yt really said its now the right time for you to know its existence.

You know whats sad? I heard rumor that parts of a city that was said to be grand and majestic were spotted right before the tsunami came in. Can you imagine that? A glimpse into history the likes of which you could not see before due to water... only to meet your end by the very thing that obscured your sight of the ruins before. Such a damn tragedy. My condolences to the families.
