For me, this song elicits the feelings of both emptiness and loneliness, due to the echo-y sound, like as if you are in a big hall all by yourself. However, the melody is slow, and sending the sense of peacefulness, calmness, and serenity. For me, this song is reminds me of a bygone era of my own past, just like how the island reflected the ghosts of the island. Each piano keystroke knocks on my heart, begging me to hear her pain that can never be fully resolved. Luckily, it also tells me that, despite all the pains of life, I am lucky enough to still have a corner of my heart where calmness and serenity exists. And hopefully, one day, I will be figiratively home.
