Don't want to get too technical. Using this program I built a breadboard rig, using a Trust GTX555 joystick which I stripped down to the circuit board. I replaced the Y_Rot pot for a 1K pot, and now get a sweep of about 165 degrees. Using this I then built a "replica" of the 1972 Stock Master Controller, complete with 11 notches on a disc, indexing with a spring. It works 100%. This means one can build a modular base unit, then a specific controller for each train, which you can "plug-in". Thanks for the upload..

Witzig, ich musste jetzt dein Programm anhalten, weil es dauernd den throttle reduzieren wollte und daher dauernd ein d getippt hat :D Schon verrückt, wenn man bedenkt, dass es DTG noch immer nicht geschafft hat, einfache Achsen zu unterstützen. Benutze das Programm nun seit Monaten und wollte mich mal bedanken dafür: Danke für dieses tolle Programm! Teilweise hats zwar noch paar Probleme (manchmal springt es den Throttle einfach auf 100%) aber damit kann ich gut leben, wenn ich dafür endlich Joysticks in TSW benutzen kann :D

@@tsw2_controller Werde mir die logs dann mal anschauen, sobald das wieder passiert, danke! Habe heute das auch für die BR146 eingerichtet. Einziges Problem hier war, dass 1A der Bremse manchmal als 14 eingelesen wurde, aber das kann man ja schnell beheben, indem man einfach sagt, dass 14 auch Stufe 1 der Bremse ist :D

Hallo, ich habe eine Farming Simulator Seitenkonsole mit einem Joy-Stick der aber sozusagen starr ist und immer wieder in Grundstellung zurück geht. Welche Einstellungen muss ich da treffen ? Könnte ich vllt wie bei einer Rangierlok mit ein mal den Stick hoch drücken eine Fahrstufe nach oben schalten?
Hmm, ich würde mal sagen, dass der wohl nicht super geeignet ist für den Job, da ich mich mit dem Programm hauptsächlich um Joysticks mit variablen Werten gekümmert habe. Du könntest jedoch versuchen, nur die Knöpfe im Programm zu konfigurieren und dann damit die Fahrstufen hochzuschalten.
Ich kann dir diese Frage nicht zu 100% beantworten, da ich diesen nicht besitze, aber eigentlich sollte jeder Controller funktionieren. Ich habe auch mal mein Lenkrad (G29) ausprobiert und es funktioniert einwandfrei. Deshalb bin ich mir auch ziemlich sicher, dass es mit dem "Logitech Pro Flight Drosselklappen-Quadrant" funktionieren wird
Hi Jannik, I am getting to grips with your excellent programme, however, I have a couple of problems. I cant get the programme to work out the time factor, is there a specific way to set up sim and your 710 details are good but my controller only recognises brake 1 setting, I am using the Logitech throttle quadrant. I am trying to set up a lever to control a 7 notch brake on class 43 without success, these may all be relaed but some help would be much appreciated. Thanks Steve
Sorry for the late response, but you should check if the resolution is set correctly in the settings of the program and if you are not using TSW4 you have to check the "TSW 2020/2/3" option in settings. If that doesn't help, it could be possible that the text indicator of your train hasn't been added, and you have to manually add it to the list. If that also doesn't help, you can try to just measure and calculate the time factor by your self. If you have a continuously variable controller: Timefactor = The amount of percent the lever moved in game, if you hold down the key for 1 second If you have a notched controller: Timefactor = The time you have to hold down the button, to get from one notch to the next one.
What am I missing here? The lazy developers at Dovetail don't support mapping controllers? In my wildest dreams, a more perfect Railroad game would appear on the market and we would not have to deal with such crappy games.

Normally, the program should automatically detect all controllers, that are also recognized by windows. If you move your controller, you should see its values in the white box in the start screen. If you have multiple connected, you maybe have to switch between the joystick numbers below the white box.
Hi thanks, yes it recognises the movement but its title is power handle and also having a few issies with the timing and min positions at brake and power

Vielen Dank, sehr cooles Programm! Kriege leider die Bremse der BR103 und BR110 nicht zum laufen. Das Zeitfaktortool geht direkt auf Vollbremsung dann bleibt das ganze Programm für ca. eine Minute hängen, falls es sich dann wieder fängt, kommt 120 raus. Der Wert scheint aber nicht zu passen, der Regler ruckelt nur hin und her. Manuell finde ich auch keinen passenden Wert. Hat jemand eine Idee?

Incredible program, I have a problem, every x seconds the throttle goes down x percent. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I put it at 100% and without touching anything, little by little it goes down to 0. Thanks for your help
This is probably because the program cannot detect the controller position in the game. Check if you have entered the correct resolution, if the HUD is enabled in the game and if the text indicators are correct (29:34). In order to understand what the program does, you can activate "Debug information" and "Show screenshot" in the settings.
Hi I've got a question, at 15:30 you detected the joystick input by pulling the joystick towards you and the number on top of the bar went from 0 to 100 and the bar moves from full to halfway. However, when I do it, there is no number on top of the bar, and when I pull the joystick the bar moves but still no numbers. And when I configure the 9 notches, it just says ' ->0' no matter how far back I pull the joystick. Could you advise me on what I can do about it? Thanks!
Does the white window in the upper left corner under the train name show information about the joystick? For example, in the video it says: "No:0 JoyY 100"
@@zickley Does the automatic detection work? And make sure that there is nothing else entered in the textbox for the joy no., so no spaces or other characters

ich würde gerne nur mit der Z achse antrieb und bremse steuern. (= gleicher Joystick) bekomme aber irgendwie nicht hin. ich würde gerne es so einstellen dass in der mittelstellung auch null ist. sobald man den den schubhebel aus der mittelposition nach vorne schiebt fängt er mit 5% an den schub zu erhöhen. das funktioniert. aber wenn ich aus der mittelstellung in die minus richtung gehe soll die bremse aktiviert werden. das klappt nicht. hast du eine idee?
Hello, the tutorial is great! On 1972 tube stock, I had a different controller. But it kept going off place with notches, can I force it to follow each notch?
Trying to set this up but finding it soooo hard! When I try to set up a new train (The Class 323 from the Birmingham Cross City), the "notched" radio button is greyed out and cannot be selected (only continuously variable can be used). You work here is amazing, but I wish you could provide profiles for all the trains in TSW4 - not just the German trains. And with a set of English profiles, as all those provided train profiles are no use to people playing in English. Then users could just load it up, set their axis, and go!
I know this is a little bit confusing, but the combined throttle / brake is just for continuously variable controllers. If you want to configure a purely notched combined controller, you can just configure it as a notched throttle like in this post: forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw_controller-control-train-sim-world-with-a-joystick.52402/#post-515463 I hope this helps
I'm not seeing the value above the position indicator bar. The joystick is reversed. I put it at the bottom and hit the "0" button and nothing happens; likewise at 100.
Is the green part of the progress bar moving if you move your joystick, and can you see the Joystick value in the white window in the upper left corner?

Yes and no. You can try to just convert the csv file to English, but not every German word, can directly be translated to English. However, I would recommend just taking the time to manually reconfigure a train for your language and joystick. You only have to do it once per train.
This is a bit tricky to do, as it has a notched and continuously variable controller all in the same axis. I have posted an idea in the forum some time ago. Although this is for a different train, the idea could also be applied the other way round. Wäre es vielleicht möglich, dass du mal testest, ob mit anderen Joysticks das gleiche Problem auftritt? Falls du keinen weiteren Joystick hast, könntest du vllt auch einen Playstation-Controller oder Lenkrad etc versuchen (Falls du sowas da hast)
@@tsw2_controller Hmm schade. Sobald ich den Joystick bewege, stürzt es ab, richtig. Ich habe Windows 11 Pro. Hab es eben mit einem Xbox series X Controller versucht, gleiches Ergebnis. Sobald ich eine Taste am Controller drück, stürzt das Programm ab.
Nein, der Zeitfaktor ist nicht nur Zug, sondern auch Systemabhängig. Wenn der nicht gelesen werden kann, liegt es wahrscheinlich daran, dass du in den Einstellungen die falsche Auflösung hast.
Hab Probleme mit dem Zeitfaktor finden bei einem Zug mit Kombihebel bei TSW4... Wenn man auf den Vorgang Starten-Button klickt, bewegt sich der Hebel nicht. LG
@@tsw2_controller Hallo habe das selbe Problem ich versuche die shed zu fahren und die funktioniert mit kombihebel und nicht mit "schub" die Anzeige ingame geht beim "finden" auf kombihebel 0 und zeigt dann den Fehler "Textindikator nicht gefunden!"
Unfortunately, this type of lever is not supported. However, it is quite possible that you can get it configured via some workarounds. (You could probably create the controller as a continuously variable one for the throttle and then use longpress to switch between the notches.)
Was genau meinst du mit "Ausgaben"? Man kann in den Einstellungen "Debug Informationen" und "Screenshot anzeigen" aktivieren, um besser verstehen zu können, was das Programm macht. Alternativ gibt es auch Logfiles unter "C:\Users\[Benutzer]\AppData\Local\TSW2_Controller" Die sind aber hauptsächlich dafür gedacht, das Verhalten während der normalen Benutzung nachvollziehen zu können. Ich meine in den Einstellungen und co sind die nicht wirklich ausführlich.
@@tsw2_controller Mit Ausgaben meine ich, dass man die Daten für die Anzeigen (PZB, Geschwindigkeit, Bremsdruck usw) aus den Simulator herausbekommt, um.sie auf externer Hardware anzuzeigen. ZUSI und Loksim3D haben hierzu IP Basierte Schnittstellen. Bei TS Classic geht das über eine DLL. Geht das bei TSW auch?
@@nonesense84 Ach so, leider ist das mit meinem Programm nicht möglich. Ich kenne auch keine andere Software, die das aktuell möglich macht. Da müsste man sich wahrscheinlich selber etwas aufbauen. Mein Programm macht nur Screenshots von der HUD, um die Regler-Position erkennen zu können. Es wäre also möglich, Bremsdruck usw. durch automatische Screenshots in Text umzuwandeln, um sie dann auf anderer Hardware anzeigen zu können. Das würde aber voraussetzen, dass die HUD permanent sichtbar ist, was den Sinn einer externen Anzeige ein bisschen infrage stellen würde. Es gibt aber mittlerweile eine Alternative zu meinem Programm, welches die .dll für den Raildriver benutz, um z.B. die Regler direkt anzusprechen. Da muss ich dich leider enttäuschen. Ich habe nur ein englisches Erklärvideo gemacht, da ich mehr Leute damit erreichen wollte. Ein deutsches Video werde ich wahrscheinlich nicht machen, tut mir leid.
Wenn dein Regler bei stillstehendem Joystick hin und her springt, kann das gut am Zeitfaktor liegen. Es ist auch gut möglich, dass das Programm nicht den aktuellen Zustand des Ingame Reglers erkennt. Versuch also vielleicht mal den Zeitfaktor ein wenig anzupassen, oder neu erkennen zu lassen. Alternativ kannst du auch mal "Debug Informationen" in den Einstellungen aktivieren, um sehen zu können, was das Programm genau macht.
Also bei mir funktioniert das leider irgendwie nicht.....Ist zwar toll, das jemand ein Programm für den TSW schreibt, aber warum diese komplizierte einmessen? Beim TS Classic braucht man das alles nicht. Und tut mir leid - es soll tatsächlich auch Menschen geben die nicht englisch sprechen (ich bin einer davon) - das man dann auf deutsch mitlesen soll/muss, macht das Ganze da nicht unbedingt leichter.
Es tut mir leid, dass du mit dem Programm nicht zurechtgekommen bist. Da es mir nicht möglich war, direkt Werte vom TSW auszulesen und Werte an den TSW zu senden, ist das Programm so kompliziert geworden. Ich habe es ursprünglich auch nur für mich entwickelt, aber als ich festgestellt hatte, dass es eigentlich relativ zuverlässig läuft und es zu diesem Zeitpunkt kein anderes Programm gab, welches den realen Regler mit dem Spiel-internen Regler synchronisieren kann, hatte ich mich dann dazu entschieden es so weiterzuentwickeln, dass auch andere Menschen es benutzen können. Da ich das Programm dann möglichst vielen Menschen zur Verfügung stellen wollte, wäre es nicht schlau gewesen, das Erklärvideo auf Deutsch zu machen. Deshalb habe ich mir dann auch die Mühe gemacht, es englischsprachig zu machen. Mittlerweile gibt es auch das Joystick-Interface, vom selben Entwickler wie beim TS Classic, für den TSW. Das Programm sollte eigentlich mit jedem USB Controller / Joystick funktionieren. Ich habe es auch schon mal mit meinem Logitech G29 Lenkrad ausprobiert und es funktioniert einwandfrei.
Super Video. Habe mir jetzt alles so eingestellt das das auch für mein hotas funktioniert. Mal ne frage. Bei der Afb wie schreibe ich das am besten ? AFB_0km/h=-100 AFB_10kmh/h=-94 usw. Habe es als Stufenschalter gemacht mit 33 Stufen. Würde das gehen ? Oder kommt da noch mal ein extra Video? Mit freundlichen Grüßen
AFB ist dein Hauptindikator, der aber schon bei den Reglern eingetragen sein sollte. Am besten stellst du deinen Joystick dann so ein, dass er von 0-100 geht, also so, dass du nicht in den negativen Bereich kommst. Und dann wählst du (wie du bereits gesagt hast) "Stufen" aus, sodass das programm dir die Positionen automatisch umrechnet. Du musst dann also nur noch sagen dass 0km/h=0 ist 10km/h=1 20km/h=2 30km/h= ... usw. Ich hoffe du verstehst was ich meine LG Jannik
Yes. If you skip to 30:33 you can see what part of the HUD is important for the program, so you can for example turn off the speedometer by pressing ctrl+5.
@@davidkauffmann9591 I'm not sure what the setting is called exactly, but you can disable all HUD elements except the text box that pops up briefly when you press a key (e.g. Throttle 23%). With this information the program knows on which position the controller is in the simulator. So yes, you can't play if you have the whole HUD disabled.
I don't quite understand what you mean. Could you perhaps explain this to me again in more detail? Maybe at which point of the video do you have a problem?
@@tsw2_controller I found a solution ty, but now with trains having the speed and braking selector on the same manipulator (BR425/422/442) i can’t brake with the joystick, idk how i can do for the program, it’s too hard for me 😂

@@tsw2_controller Ich benutze grad die Gamepass Version von Xbox am pc. Konnte es dadurch für 1€ Testen. Aber die Regler bewegen sich ingame nicht und vllt hab ich etwas falsch gemacht. Deshalb wollte ich mich mal erkundigen.
@@lcsbln5092 Dass sich der regler nicht bewegt sollte eigentlich nichts mit der tsw Version zutun haben. Theoretisch solltest du wenn du in notepad bist sogar sehen, wie das programm beim bewegen des Reglers die Knöpfe drückt. Es liegt wahrscheinlich daran, dass der Joystick falsch konfiguriert ist. Überprüfe mal die Joynr und den joy Namen und schau, ob sich der grüne Balken passend bewegt (4:15)

Das kann ich dir leider nicht beantworten, da ich den TSW4 nicht besitze und in naher Zukunft auch nicht kaufen werde. Ich könnte mir allerdings vorstellen, dass es noch funktionieren wird, da die UI-Anzeige von dem Reglerzustand an derselben Stelle zu sein scheint. Sicher beantworten kann ich dir das aber leider nicht.
