Thanks for taking the time to review our game! This is a heavily revised version of the earlier 2021 release and we want to continue improving the game over time. The first supplement is expected to be finished later this year. This will be a setting guide with an expanded bestiary and rules for naval engagements.

Sounds pretty cool... I love that WFRP vibe. Ugh... Zweihander!

So you say it is an idenity crisses because its based upon Renaissance era, which WHFRP did? Wtf? What about Witchhunter rpg, zwiehander, basic rpg, solomn kane rpg, Clock Work and chivalry, Hexxen 1733, or even Lamentaions of the Flame Princess? Anything based upon the real world Renaissance will be compared to warhammer, since they just basically copied earth. Then put their spin on it....same with streets of peril

As you can see, I like a good dark fantasy set in the Baroque or early Renaissance era.

Will be hard to compete with WFRP4, Zweihänder, Lamentations,Warlock, GrimDark, GrimHack, Mörk Borg and loads more. Liked the art but I detest dice pools. Bit expensive too.

First time i hear " home brew system".

@@samfire3067 say take pathfinder. You go through and change the system to fix things that work for your group. Or in my case. I like the d20 system. But say going back to the danger level of 2nd edition. But the math of 3.5. But say ohh I like how they handled firearms in this system. Let's put that into tales of time. My homebrew I'm working on.

I wonder if I’m the only one who finds glossy paper counter-immersive (for games set in some (alternate) past).

No doubt someone - perhaps Grim - will enlighten us as to when and by what means glossy paper was introduced and thus either set your mind at rest or validate your unease. P.S. I assume PDF’s also don’t work for you?

@@liberalhyena9760 I suppose colourful pictures are clearer on glossy paper? Of course the deciding factor is, in the end, the content. But there’s just something nice about old-fashioned paper, especially when it’s capable of yellowing over time. (It doesn’t need to have burnt edges, lol.)

Valid points. I understand that the quality of paper does - somehow - increase over time, quite aside from the yellowing, which may well, as you suggest, add character. I confess I’m partial to the smell of paper - freshly printed, at any rate - and the absence of chemicals on uncoated paper certainly lends it an organic aroma. I became so intrigued by the question of when glossy paper was introduced that I tried to find out via the internet. It seems to have been in the 1880’s, though that seems to relate to photographic paper rather than the kind used in books and magazines, which I think is far more recent. Most books - standard non-fiction rather than game books - continue to use uncoated paper for the text but glossy paper for the photos, when included, no doubt for the reason you state. BTW, the Wikipedia article on coated paper has a lot of information on the chemicals involved, but not much, if anything, about the history. It would be interesting to know what was the first publication to use such paper, and the reception at the time.

It also protects the inks, as well as making them more vibrant. Coated paper was introducted in the late 19th century, though inset 'plates' for illustrations are a bit older IIRC.
