Nothing from the loot table in icc is guarantee only gold is ;]

U shdnt be dpsing from other side cuz u wont get shaman totem for spell haste. and other auras. U can simple blink to other side to avoid meteor.

At the very start i was too much on the back i had to move a bit closer to get it but its fine, position takes over that.

Ye , its rly important to be in range of that cuz of our burst which matters the most.

Position that makes me dps not moving its better in this situation.Other mage have better gear and all buffs and i`m top dps until adds come. You can see the dps difference is 150k more for me in just 12% of the boss hp. Yes if i moved in like 2 or 3 more yards to get the buffs right from start would be even better but i didnt;]/
