"Jhoom" means to 'sway'. More specifically, swaying in a trance-like state of happiness. Basic message: Forget about the hardships and stresses of life, because, in the end you can't control them - let go, be free, accept and celebrate life!
I heard it yesterday. What a beautiful song. Great Reaction. Coke Studio reaction always are. Jodi is actually looking like a daughter here with that jet black hair haha.
TU means "you" and jhoom means "to sway in ecstasy", in spite of all the facts explained in the song they are telling their hearts to still sway in ecstasy
The lady with curly hair is Abida parveen , a 67 year old virtuoso of Sufi music. She has performed on the international stage many a times including as part of devotional music with sir John Keith Revonant. The lyrics of this song are about one's quest and destiny !
@@nahumjames you sound pretty islamophobic buddy. You need help. No way he was shoving anything down anywhere but you really have something hateful shoved in your brain.
Wonderful review. Thank you so much. Abida Parveen is a Sufi singer. She's been singing Sufi poetry for several decades. She has received very rigorous training as a Salik (wayfarer on the Sufi path) to reach where she is. Jhoom is like the whirling of a Darvesh, which is symbolic of the dance of the universe from the atom where the electrons revolve around the nucleus to the solar system where the planets revolve around the Sun (and beyond!) it's all a whirling dance of love and passion. It's symbolic of a state of mind where you're so aligned with the dance of the cosmos (individual and collective growth and evolution) that the anchorages of the ego (caste, socioeconomic status etc) slip off. Then you're content with being who you are, having what you have.
This is one song that we all should listen to and feel its dept. Its lyrics are specially written and beautifully preform by our Pakistani legends for each and every one of us in this world. Thank you Coke Studio for this glorious masterpiece.
The girl (woman) in curly hair is Abida Parveen, I suggest you remember this name and explore more as she is without a doubt the greatest Female vocalist of all time. She is for female singers what Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was for male singers. The best if the best. Ever need to get into trance just listen to her, she is also known as the Queen of Sufi Music.
You are a genius, Nick! you simply nailed it. I have seen many reactions to this song but this by far is the best out there. If there is a genuine compliment to this masterpiece, it's this reaction! Please keep it coming you both. I love your channel.
Wonderful (contrasting) analysis by both of you [Ma'am and Sir] of transcendence.... God bless you!!! Kind Regards and lots of love from Pakistan.. The entire song and its lyrics are mystical.

In the last 2 years, we have seen so much death and disease, this song puts everything in perspective. Your health and well-being are important. Do not forget to see the big picture in your struggles in life.
if interested....read about "Sufism"....and the 'girl' with the long curly hairs - Abida Parveen is 68 yrs old Sufi singer from Pak. Tu = You & Jhoom = to sway, in joy/happiness of being with the 'One' and only! such music is best when you close your eyes and just listen, (better still, if you can understand the poetry) Being with the 'One' is a limitless joy and beyond any materialistic things/happiness/sorrow...so Jhoom, Jhoom, Jhoom
React too on 2nd n 3rd song of coke studio season 14 1.Kana Yari by Kaifi Khalil, Eva B, and Abdul Wahab Bughti 2.Sajan Das Na by Atif Aslam and Momina Mustehsan
‘Tu’ is ‘you’ in Punjabi. ‘Jhoom’ is a sufi dance. This song is about losing yourself in the love for God’s creation and just dancing away. The dance of self-love. Singers are: Sufi legend Abida Parveen (lady with dark hair, deep voice,) and Naseebo Lal (lady with the high pitch voice.)
