It was great to be there! Our second TS concert in France after St Jean de Braye last year. The videos are a lovely reminder, and I'm struck once again by the precision, coherence and musicality of their playing. I've got several TS tracks in a similar tempo on my running playlist: the rock-steady rhythm propels me along the roads and tracks; nothing quite like burning along the towpath of the Avon to 'Maple Leaf Rag' and 'Gotta Gimme Some'. But it was better still to hear them on a balmy evening in front of an ancient church, amongst an enthusiastic and appreciative audience.

5.29 and it goes off like a frog in a sock, brilliant!

This is an excellent capture of TS doing an audience favorite they've been performing for years. While the version I know best has more tumultuous energy, this one shows the crisp artistry of the performers. Two of the standout solos are by Jason and Robin.

Thank you Jeff for these amazing recordings. Those were the good old days when there were concerts, festivals. So we can enjoy these delicious moments.

A long-time favourite with Tuba Skinny and their fans, '(You) Gotta Give Me Some' was composed by Clarence Williams. It was recorded by Margaret Webster in 1929; and also by Bessie Smith. It is on two of Tuba Skinny's Albums - 'Tuba Skinny' (from their earliest days, 2009) and 'Pyramid Strut'. The arrangements have varied slightly over the years, with changes of personnel, but they have always played it in the key of Bb. Thanks for filming, Jeff Guyot.

Many thanks for these fine videos. It's great that the sound engineer has Erika's voice tweaked up a bit more than usual .. she gives this real passion, which deepens the music's plea. Also, I always enjoy the close work of Todd's tuba and Robin's washboard - so well woven into the music. And thanks for letting the video run to include the closing w. introductions.
