Apologies for the multiple production errors in this video - I fat fingered a level setting in Cubase before I exported the track in the intro and made it clip like a mofo. hey a question about this technique. if youre just using the tube amp with no real pedals in front inserted into the ax8 to dual amp , when you put something like an overdrive in the signal path in the ax8 does it actually push the real amp tubes even harder like a real one would? or is it only going to get the EQ effect and nuances of an overdrive ? wondering if using the ts808 sim in an ax8 would drive the tubes harder in real life or if it would only push the amp sim?
Dude you're a genius. Ever since I switched to UAD gear it's been a pain in the ass to try to record from a real amp to my load box to an IR (because UAD would just monitor the awful raw amp signal). Now with your patch I can use any of the amps in my room through my Two Notes Captor into the AX8 where I can load any friggin cabinet I want. Makes my life so much easier!
This is by far one of the best channels I've come across. Great reviews and really creative ideas especially with the AX8. Your channel has basically made up my mine to replace my Mark V:25 with a Fractal unit (maybe I'll hold onto the MV:25 just because). Subscribed hard!
Thanks man! I would definitely hold on to the 25 (I'm a bit biased towards Marks if you can't tell...). Tubes are great, modelers are great, but using both together is where the real fun is IMO. Welcome to the dark side!
You've been coming up with awesome ideas lately (and your shirt is pretty🔥, boi! 😂👌) Oh, and btw the Thrasher at the beginning seemed to be a bit louder and more compressed than the amp sim. Remember what Tue Madsen said about thinking that something sounds better when in reality it's just louder.
That could be the result of a few things. The thrasher is going through an artificial load, the IIC+ is likely more dynamic than the real amp, etc. I didn't change do anything to the dynamics of the Thrasher in the patch. The Fractal amp models seriously tend to sound better than the real thing, and this is further evidence of that.
Again, I think you are getting some of, if not the best AX8/Axe FX/Fractal tones on RU-vid. Your IIC+ tone by itself is one of the best I've come across and the combined tones are excellent. I've mentioned looking at the Axe III and Thrasher, but have wavered quite a bit over the recent months because I cannot play them first and have to rely on clips and demos. Your videos show that both units, independently and together, can get tones I'm very impressed with. So, thanks for that.:D Two questions: Have you tried the Two Notes set up you have going in this video vs using the Two Notes strictly as a load and running from the Thrasher's raw/slave out? If so, what are your thoughts on how they compare?
Thank you for the high praise! I've never done that on the thrasher, but I did on my Rectifier as the slave out was closer to the rest of my gear. I couldn't tell a difference there, but I can try it with both amps later and let you know. In theory it should be identical.
Brother can you make a tutorial on how to make a awesome modern metal ax8 preset for 7 string guitar for live purposes (with a simple poweramp and a 4x12 cabinet) and being able to send the signal to FOH via ax8 out 1???
