What could be impact if the value of 'w' (groove width) in hydraulic expansion is lesser than obtained from the formula.

In TEMA there is no explanations for such requirements, but from some manufacturers and technical literatures, they where able to achieve the proper pull axial force by following this criteria. while for smaller grooves, much lower pull force was required

Regarding the suggested amount of wall reduction in tubes, what is clause no. in TEMA and API where it is given.

API 660 is referring to the design code, hence UW 20 in ASME sec. VIII div.1 to be applied
