The tubing press is an excellenet intermediary rehabilitative exercise to transition from simple tubing exercises post injury to pressing and bench pressing in the later stages of training/return to play.
Note that the elbow always stays in front of the body (this is best accomplished by having the palm face perpendicular to the torso). NEVER allow the elbows to "flare" during a press so that the shoulder is in abduction. The elbows never go behind torso midline in good pressing technique.
Use a higher rep range and train both arms. When the tubing press becomes easy and pain free, you can begin to introduce barbell and dumbell pressing.
