my dad worked at Delphi for 33 years and lost his retirement when delphi shut down their plant here in Alabama in 2008. we went through some tough times and nearly lost our home. Dad was a manufacturing engineer who worked his way up from being a floor worker and machinist. He deserved every penny he earned. This is just not right and I'm glad Tucker has brought this kind of practice to public awareness

I fled the city 32 years ago and never looked back. There was so much crime, hate, excessive overgrowth and high costs even back then. Now the cities have tripled that at least. My area is mostly farm and cattle lands and haven't changed much for years but I've seen those closed industrial towns and sites. So sad the corporate bigwigs sold their people and this country down the river to China.

@Ponce DeOly You are correct, crime rates are down from the ‘90’s. What has been missed is the crime today is extremely violent. Criminals in the 90’s where just doing their job, it was not personal, today it is done with hatred. The reason for the crime long ago was to take the victims stuff today it is to do damage physically to the victim. Now with the courts doing nothing to the criminal there is no point for the cops to put their lives at risk to arrest anyone. You are on your own, good luck out there. I am a cop, injured on the job, been done that, got the tee-shirt.

I don’t understand... If what tucker is describing here is a result of the blessed capitalist system, what then is he suggesting? Let the mob storm the banks and hedge funds and take what’s theirs? Yes, I remember clearly. After the Carter administration the labor unions and high taxes started running off manufacturers and small towns started their slow deaths. Skyrocketing energy prices sped up the process so that Carter wasn't reelected. Who are you going to march against to keep your local mechanic shop from becoming another jiffy lube? How are bullets going to keep Walmart from shoving ma and pa stores out of the market for cheap oversea goods? Y'all had a chance to fight. Not just with your political votes, but also by voting with your wallets and sweet deals won out over American integrity. How is a gun going to stop any of this? You can't shoot craftsmen in to being relevant again, you can't shoot these stores back in to existence, you can't shoot $2 factory farmed steaks out of existence to save your local butcher. Of course I don't mean you directly, I don't even know you, but you know what I mean. Of course, a complete meltdown and conflict could degrade the nation to the point that homegrown industry is our only answer to survival, be that a second Civil War or WW3. Best our rifles can do for self sustenance is hunting to put food on the table if times get tough. Only in the extreme would conflict bring back American industry. At the moment it's more of a deterrent serving as a roadblock to totalitarian corruption, hence why we need to keep it at all costs. But it will never bring back what we lost.

Don't get me wrong, Capitalism is the engine of prosperity for the country, but unrestrained capitalism looks just like this story in Sydney Nebraska. And that is what the Republican party and Fox News have been advocating for years, convincing the American People that anything less than unrestrained capitalism is socialism and communism; driving up the bank accounts of the 1% while decimating our heartland. Carlson has been part of that machine for a long time. It is almost shocking to see him report on reality as most non-Fox News consumers including Democrats see it. It isn't immigration devastating our heartland, it is shipping jobs overseas. The immigration issue is the slight of hand and misdirection that Republicans and Fox News have been perpetrating for decades while our actual jobs were shipped overseas for the good of corporate profits.

Not term limits... That would hurt the nation by forcing out the good ones as well. What we need is financial transparency. I'm not a fan of forcing candidates to reveal tax returns while running for office, but they should be required to divulge their taxes, campaign funds, PACs, and charities while they are on the taxpayer pay roll.

cant feel too sorry for us. all of our counties vote overwhelmingly republican and we have for decades. people in sidney still scoff at the idea of regulating capitalism, but thats the only thing that would have saved them. this isnt even the first times its happened to them. a while ago ADC, formerly Prestolite Wire, was bought out because of a patent they owned. the plant was shut down and people had to either relocate or find new work. the mayors answer is the influx of service jobs like hotel work or restaurant workers. we did this to ourselves.

Well, technically, he is not. Is a host, a speaker. And the journalism part was achieved by its team. But I admit that he presented this part with professionalism and a very neutral view, almost as if the Dem/Rep clash was not his priority. This segment surprised me, as I assumed it was more likely to air on a more "democratic" channel. A very good job, and he's actually pointing out a real issue in the USA, that can still be turned around if enough people start to care about it. :) Next up, climate change? ;)
