Yea, great save. Some of the best drummers don't seem to get phased by stuff like this, and in fact even use the accidents to their advantage. I was watching Nate Smith during a solo and the same exact thing happened to his crash stand. He just let it be and used the cymbal at a 90-degree angle as it stood on the collapsed stand. Loved it. Got a great sound out of it. Fixed it up after the solo.
Not sure why the algorithm chose tonight to bless me with this… but this has to be some of the flat-out tightest drumming I’ve ever seen. Not a single fill rushed, dynamics perfectly under control, nothing flashy, just every note in its exact right place. Reminds me of Chris McHugh.
I could and probably will sit here and watch for hours love playing drums myself which I don’t have any but if I ever see a set you damn right I’m banging on them
What a great vantage point, we're usually on the other side. Was looking for a video from the viewer's side. I picked up Waylon's Good Old Boys @2:48. Awesome video! Thanks Tucker...
From a former drum tech I would’ve fixed that crash cymbal in a second. Sounds good 😎 Does that kit go with you to every show or a rental? Drummer I tech for played same exact cymbals.
Great playing. I wonder how certain cymbals translate in live open settings such as this, as compared to live rooms, halls, theaters. Can you use the same cymbal set for each location? It just seems to me like getting drums to sound great or at least very good isn't as difficult as capturing cymbals.
Beautiful sounds and groove! Do you use any muffling on the snare/toms? It all looks wide open and sounds awesome! Rimshots on the backbeats? My audio engineer has issues with the floor tom note length if the drum is wide open…any advice there? Do you guys play to clicks on everything? Real pro stuff here…
Thanks man! I appreciate that! I’m not muffling any of the drums here at all. Just wide open. My FOH engineer hates the floor tom to keep from ringing away. And all rimshots on backbeats!
Great drumming. Tough.... you can't hear anything back there. Good timing. But hey get a new hi hat. They sound like shit. Best hi hats on the market are Sabians on Dave Wekls site. There fantastic they will change the whole feel of your kit.
