Thanks this video convinced me to keep my p39. Prefer the more modern design. I wish Tudor offered a non rivet 3 link bracelet. I would then consider it. I do think the 39 has better side on proportions too. Both lovely watches.

Two good choices, slight edge to the Pelagos.

BB Monochrome is my choice. I have one with jubilee bracelet.

I have the P39. It’s an awesome watch. The sunburst dial and insert and titanium prevents some from getting it. I am of the opinion that if Tudor dropped a master chronometer in it, used a matte black dial and insert, and used 316L instead of titanium, the Pelagos 39 would be Tudor’s best dive watch of the modern era. I love mine… but I feel as though Tudor dropped the ball with only a few design miscalculations.

Hi Brad, this is a tricky one for me. I prefer the dimensions of the Pelagos but the Black Bay 41 has the better (METAS) movement. I think that if I was buying I'd go for the less retro Pelagos. If METAS is really important to you you can always wait for the Pelagos to get the uprated movement.

To my eye, the dial in the 41 looks smaller than the P39. Is that just an effect due to the domes crystal of the BB 41?

Baby Pelagos is too small for a men sport watch. Real Pelagos is way better. BB Monochrome is pure perfection.

I own both watches. I’ve had the P39 for 9 months, and I bought the BB41 Monochrome on the 5-link (Jubilee) 5 weeks ago… I have not taken the BB41 off my wrist. The P39 oddly wears big, and I find the opposite of the BB41, but in reality they wear the same on my 6.75” wrist. Despite the all-titanium construction and the fact that my BB41 is on the jubilee, The P39 is blingier, brighter, and with a more pronounced sunburst; the sunburst effect on the BB41 dial is barely noticeable. In general, the BB41 is the more subdued and understated of the two. The Pelagos is a nice watch, but the BB41 is as close to a gada watch that I own. Of my four Tudors (P39, Ranger, and BB Pro), the Black Bay 41 Monochrome is by far my favorite. Ranger next.

Could you explain to me how titanium wears differently? Another question that you can answer for me is that these Tudor watches, for example the Tudor Pelago 39, the Tudor BB41, the Tudor Pelagos FXD, will they have a phantom date, because I am used to having a watch with a date, it is mostly to avoid the forbidden hours that are usually 8 pm to 2 am

WHICH WOULD I CHOOSE FROM THESE WATCHES BECAUSE I AM GOING TO BUY IT IN OCTOBER? MY HEART TELLS ME THE BB41 AND MY BRAIN TELLS ME THE PELAGO 39. HOW HARD IT IS TO CHOOSE?

I like them both, but I have a strong preference for smaller and lighter watches, so the P39 gets my vote. The red "PELAGOS" on the dial reminds me of a vintage Red Submariner :)

Both excellent options-I like the simple, straightforward purity of these watches. The shorter lug-to-lug on the P39 suits me better, but if your wrist is larger you have a tough choice!

This is literally the choice I’m going to be weighing up once Omega release the black no date seamaster. Assuming there’s something about that I don’t like (lol) it’ll be between these 2 watches. I’ve had the P39 before but QC issues put me off to selling it, but both of these are absolute bangers, just don’t see the point going for both long term in the same collection

Have owned both thanks to the amazing team at Brent Miller. Sold the Pelagos and kept and love the BB. Just perfect dimensions

Pelagos has nothing on the Monochrome. The monochrome has received the torch of the original sub design language. It will be an all time GOAT in 50+ years a modern day submariner doesn’t even have this.
