The "KXTV" theme at 2:00 indeed was in use at KXTV in Sacramento in late 1985 and early 1986. I believe that it was used as the opening music to the KXTV 11:00 p.m. newscast on January 28, 1986 (space shuttle "Challenger" accident). I have no idea if it was the regular news music (which possibly was "the Spirit of California") or if it was used on "major" news days because "the Spirit of California" was too upbeat). A couple of cuts from the "WNDU 1986 News Theme" at 6:30! I've been hoping to hear that full package for years, and it seems like nobody had access to it! (WKRC in Cincinnati was using the theme as early as November 1984, but it's not like *I* named it!)
The official name of the "WNDU 1986 News Theme" is actually "The News Image III." It is mislabeled on the NMSA as well. I believe I have the reel from this package with more cuts somewhere (originally obtained from WKRC about 20 years ago)
@@Trackstacka For my money, this theme package was even more robust than the original "News Image" set. And, unlike the original iteration, full cuts (even if less than broadcast quality) have never been posted anywhere, thus the mystery about the name. It would be fantastic to hear more of those cuts!
