OK OK OK . .don't know if you will see this since its an OLD video.. But i searched and searched on your channel for a backing video.. lol .. I would like to see what you use and how you do your backing's.. I watched others but looks like yours are so much cleaner and nicer..
Another beautiful lesson, thank you. Listen, I bought a second hand "gun" and the machine is all out of order. I believe that the previous owner messed with the distances and does not tufting as it should be. Could you make a tutorial on this to help. Thanks anyway for your time.
@@justruginit Understand it could be a generic already warning this difference, my "gun" for what I compared with your videos is similar. But I appreciated the willingness and will continue to study and learn. THANKS
Hey man could you help a tutorial of tufting circles? I’m having trouble with eyes and small circles. Especially filling them in. I do go slow when I’m tufting circles but for some reason I keep ending up with ovals.
Your never going to get a perfect circle while tufting. Just try to get it as close as you can. When your doing your carve work, that’s when the circle comes to life
Hey dude, me again - have you ever tried other types of medium? Instead of yarn, I mean? Nylon, anything like that? I am thinking about what one could potentially use to make rugs for high traffic application, including welcome mats & stuff like that. Currently, with the yarn/Roberts glue workflow, it seems as though decorative rugs for hanging, low-traffic, or sitting on are all we can do. What about runners & welcome mats, cleanable rugs. I think some kind of latex backing & secondary cloth would be needed, though I also wonder about the actual medium for the strand. Like, it would be a neat side hustle to do rugs for local businesses, for example. Businesses would be happy to pay a premium, because it would be an expense for their taxes, too.
I’ve definitely thought of this, but the biggest issue is wether or not the scissors and motor can handle the stress of cutting different materials that are stronger. I personally haven’t tried it, but might be worth giving it a go!
@@justruginit Good point! I hadn’t considered the later stages - let’s explore this more in the future, I will get to learning the basics for now; I have my frame build, ended up doing a 32x32 to practice on/make smaller rugs on. When I build up some skills in the craft, I will touch base again to bounce ideas on each other if interested later.
