If you know my family, you know we come up with some interesting “what ifs.” The idea for this song came from my brother, Nathan Dwire. It is meant to picture a game of tug-of-war between two trombones. I am so thankful to Joseph and Sam for being willing to try this out and make it come to life.
Trombone: Joseph Greene and Sam Robertson

@musical_chairs15
@musical_chairs15 4 месяца назад
Each position of the trombone has multiple pitches available. They can change their mouth shape to get different pitches within each position. This is written in Ab major, which I found was the best key to be able to make the pitches from opposite positions harmonize well together. It was definitely a learning curve for me as I am definitely not a brass player!😅

@@musical_chairs15 It's a pretty easy instrument to start on. The embouchure isn't difficult. Heck, I once picked one up (well, a sackbut really, but same as a trombone, only smaller) and played accompaniment to my band for ten minutes. When the trombonist said, "I didn't know you played the trombone!" I had to answer, "I don't!" (To be fair, I did play Eb horn for a month or so when I was in the fourth grade. That might have helped.) Fun composition, amusing performance. Thanks. :)

This is such an interesting concept, and a catchy song, too. So, now I'm trying to think of any other instruments whose natural movement could let you "duel" like this. The best I've thought of so far are a pair of string players, sitting closely enough that their bows are just barely staying out of one another's way (which would look kind of like a saw); or two people playing mallet percussion instruments, and either "crossing swords," or trying to avoid doing exactly that. But yes, the trombone is special. It's much cooler than a lot of people give it credit.

Thank you for reminding me of mirror duets. I once played one - great fun! (The one I tried can be done with flute and violin, if the violinist takes the orientation that ranges below middle C). With a little internet searching, I found that there are 4 mirror duets that were attributed to Mozart (though modern scholarship thinks they pre-date Mozart). Bach wrote similar pieces, called crab canons (because crabs walk backwards as well as forwards) or table canons (because the musicians stand on either side of the table).

So if anyone heres a Tromber Keep it up :D

Its seriously the easiest instrument ive ever learned. You learn seven positions and about 4 basic mouth shapes. Accuracy can be wildly off in most cases and still sound fine. @@jerbear7952 i never said it wasn't easy either but its a challenge because of the weight and size. what makes it hard is positioning the slid to the right notes because theres no way to tell, only by ear is what I'm saying also the condition of the instrument matters too.
