I love my Tulip hooks! I have Furls, Armour, Susan Bates, etc. Tulip is the best for me hands down. I was glad to read in the comments below that the size label stays on! I think you will love these hooks!! I wish I had the pink I have the dark grey.

For many years I used Susan Bates hooks because I preferred the way they felt in my hand Boye hooks. I developed arthritis and was not able to crochet for any length of time until I discovered Clover Amour hooks. I had tried using the Boye ergonomic hooks but they are very heavy and caused my hands and wrist to fatigue very quickly. When I first found the Clover Amour hooks they were at Jo-Ann fabrics and were $7.99 each. Also at that time set of clover Amour cost $70 on Amazon I collected mine one hook at a time at Jo-Ann fabrics and I will never go back to other hooks

I found the Clover kit in a pretty case on Amazon for around 55 USD. It's not as fancy as the Tulip case, but it's in fun colors and has a nice little fabric flap to cover the hooks so they don't rub against each other when closed up. They really help me to crochet for a long time with no hand pain.

I have both Clover & Tulip sets... my wonderful hubby bought the Tulip set for my 60th birthday last year. I've had a 4mm Tulip hook for years & that's my go to 4mm hook & I crochet for hours each day & no wearing off of the hook size. I prefer the grips on the Tulip hooks & the shaft of the Clover hooks, so combining the 2 would be heaven! I love my Clover & Tulip hooks equally! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts after using the Tulip hooks on longer projects.🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I love my Boye pink set. I took 2 steps to keep track of sizing. I ended up using a sharpie to write size and color of the metal in the case. Using an engraving tool to put the size on the metal itself helps. I use my hooks and needles daily and withing a month 3 of my hooks had already lost the embossed silicone sleeve.

I have both Clover and Tulip hooks. I absolutely adore my Tulips. I have arthritis. Tulip and Clover both comfortable to hold. The hook size print on each hook has never worn off. As I am legally blind, I can see the hook size on Tulip but not on the Clovers. I have 3 sets of Tulip. Pink, Grey Steel, Grey Gold. Also the smaller travel packs. However it is what you are used to holding. As I’ve used Tulip more then Clover, therefore I prefer Tulip.

Do you find with multiple WIPs, that your hooks “disappear” until you finish? I have hooks all over the place, stuck in projects. It’s ridiculous! So my resolution-not New Year’s- is to finish all these WIPs before I start anything else. Of course, people will have to take a break from having babies, and the grandkids will have to quit growing, lol…

@loriscrochetcreations8566
@loriscrochetcreations8566 3 года назад
Hello Anne, I had the same problem. I fixed it by placing a paper (detailing which project using the hook)in the slot where the hook's placement is my hook case. Never failed me yet. Hope this is helpful. By the way, I still have a pile of unfinished wips and I'm still saying that I'm going to finish those first. Haha!

@@loriscrochetcreations8566 Love this idea. I like my hooks in the project bags themselves because we often leave the house quite quickly, and I never leave without a project bag! I even keep one in the car, but sometimes I have one I'm working on that has an earlier need by/want by date! I like being ready to go in an instant, and need a lot of variety in projects to keep my wandering mind happy! I've begun purchasing the un-branded light-up kits with 11 hook sized and often extra notions in the packs like stitch markers, yarn needles, and even a small magnifying glass. I've begun using these kits in my project bags. What a big difference! They come with wildly varying prices, so watch for your best price with the most number of hooks if you decide to purchase any of these!

@vegangelist
@vegangelist 3 года назад
Yes! I hate that raised logo AND that wretched FLAT handle. Ugh! That thumb bump on the tulips changes EVERYTHING! Plus, the fatter heads in the tulips more closely mimics the effect of an inline hook. The clovers are more tapered, which is why they ARE really nice for things like amigurumi and other things you need to work tightly. But I can't work with them for hours on end without cramping, like I can with my tulips. Plus, the tulips are EVEN smoother! They changed my life several years ago! I've NEVER looked back. You couldn't PAY me ENOUGH to trade out my tulips for clovers or anything else. Truly. My hubby knows that, if we had to leave the house suddenly, the tulips would be one of the first things I would grab. LOL I have two pink, three grey, one blue steel set, plus a mini set and a bunch of individual hooks. I use furls streamlined swirls for many large hook projects, though. And prym large hooks for times I don't want the furls.

I love simple and very basic hooks with silicone grip - very cheap. I watched some videos about various hooks and a lot of people recommended clovers soft grip. I've bought (thank God ) only 3 numbers and I don't like them at all. They are not as expensive as pink tulips but still pretty expensive. I was disappointed. Finally I tried Knit Pro Waves - I love them, they are light but not too light, have perfect hook that doesn't slip, that have different colours in different numbers and they go with reasonable price. I prefer knife grip so they are perfect for me. Recently completed all set. I don't buy in sets cause I don't want to be disappointed and pay a lot at the same time :D

I have some steel hooks also that I use for my thread crochet projects. More than a decade ago I found these grips to put on those tiny hooks. They kind of like like miniature pool noodles and slide(very tightly) on to the hook. I hope you enjoy them…..I finally found a set I absolutely love when I bought my set of Clovers last year. I probably won’t experiment further with the price of Tulips what they are…even with the extra paraphernalia. When it’s not broken, don’t fix it! 😊 And I could use the extra dollars on some more yarn!

I love my Clovers (sale for $35 US) AND my Tulips (Sale $78 US). Sometimes one works better with different yarns than the other. My Tulips are the gray ones with the gold shafts, I'm not sure if they're constructed different than the pink? Mine are not "slippery" in the grip. My size "sticker" looks new to this day. Yes, if one hook "squeaks", I will switch to the other & the squeaks will stop. HAPPY BIRTHDAY & congrats on your new hooks!

This is July 2024, I’ve had my tulips for about three years, and they still look brand new. My clovers are even older and they still look good too. These are two really good products, and I think anyone would be happy with either one.but I have to be honest and say that I seem to prefer the tulips. They are beautiful, and feel perfect in my very small hands. The big fuss for the clovers is that each size has its own color. This is valuable to me as I am., as I am legally blind. However, I will say that the white on black of the tulip is also very helpful. The pinks have black on pink, and that is good too. You just can’t lose with either one of these hooks

You should try the Furls Odyssey hooks. I really love the large handles! They are my favorites, with the clovers close behind. I have one Tulip hook that I like, but once I tried the Furls I stopped using the Tulip. I prefer the wider handle, otherwise my hands hurt. Enjoy the Tulips, i’ve heard good things about them as well. Everyone’s hands are different.

The Furls Odyssey are supposedly good for people who have arthritis. Read the reviews. They are expensive but worth trying. They are returnable for any reason within a period of time, I forgot how long. But there is an adjustment period. They often have sales. I initially tried them because I prefer a metal ergonomic hook but the clover hooks are plastic from 6.5 mm and larger. I loved my clovers but not the plastic ones, so I tried the 6.5 mm tulip and then tried the Furls Odyssey. Over time I got used to it and now love it and bought many more, a few hooks at a time. However they have stickers for sizing. Some people use clear nail polish to keep the stickers on. I made labels with a label maker and that works. But it is slippery at first without a thumb deck. It takes time but I love the Furls best. When I use my Clovers they feel so thin now, although they are wonderful hooks.

I have clover hooks, but I find them too short. I bought some other brand of ergo hooks and they are longer and have a nice rubber handle. I actually stopped using clover and started using these other hooks. I was gripping the clovers in a way that the handle was hurting the palm of my hand. Using the longer hooks made me change the way I held the hook and now I went back to clover and I'm using them the same way I was using the longer hooks. Thank you for your honest opinion. I'm sold on clover. I just wish the handle was longer.

I have the pink Tulip Etimo since 2016. I also have the gray Tulip Etimo set. Recently I got the “red” Tulip Etimo set in my most used sizes(4.00 - 6.50 mm) on “Etsy” for $65 US. I did not get the set on Amazon because it was very pricey & the sizes in that set were very small which I rarely use so not worth it for me. You can buy just individual red Tulip Etimo hooks on Amazon. By the way the sticker has never come off and as I said I have been using them for years. Enjoy!

Update: I’m still…nine months later…and don’t plan to buy any Tulips… However… I have bought…over time…four Furls Odyssey hooks. To be honest, there was…for me, anyway, a definite learning curve with them. I almost returned the first one, but a friend encouraged me to give it a few days… The hook felt big, in my small hand, and the nickel plsted shaft was almost too smith. I’m glad I gave the Odyssey a chance, because I grew to love it. My Clovers are still my favorite hooks, but I also appreciate my Odysseys…That nickel plated shaft is awesome.

The pink and red tulip sets are quite unnecessarily expensive imo. I have the older, gray handle Tulip Etimo set with gold heads, which are cheaper than pink and red. I have a knife grip and I like my Tulips a lot. Never had hand fatigue or grip pain so far with them. I heard Tulip stickers are quite good and strong and does not come off for many many years, but yeah engrave mm would have been better. I can't compare them with clovers though, cause they are not sold in my country. I do not wanna buy them via Amazon to bring from abroad, cause why should I pay extra customs etc money when I already have Tulips anyways :P I also hering prym and knitpro hooks a lot. I think they are both the same company's products (not sure), both German. But they are soo soo expensive for me to wanna buy honestly.

I'm super simple. Susan bates soft kinda girl. Aluminum hook with a rubber grip that starts BELOW the natural thumb rest. And the only reason I even got it is because my original hook a no name boye shaped hook in the size 5.75mm (no I'm not kidding) was so short that it dug into my palm. I needed something loooonger Other than that my favorite hook is a premier deluxe wooden hook. Just so smooth and head is sharp. Love it, but only have 1. I don't believe I'll ever buy the expensive ones (though I do have a clover 7mm solely because no other brand had that size and I needed all the sizes)

Of the aluminum hooks I prefer Susan Bates over Boye. Since graduating to ergonomic hooks, I'm a Clover Amore girl. I'm 2 hooks shy of a full standard set (I started buying the separate hooks to give them a try). I'm thinking of picking up the steel hooks as well. I'm not too sure about the larger size hooks because they are plastic and I only use the big hooks once in awhile. My larger Susan Bates hooks don't make my hands ache like the smaller sizes can. The hook case was nice but, I found a nice crochet pattern for a hook roll that I was able to extend to hold a couple more hooks or a pen and pencil. I just attach my needles and markers to the top flap. I normally carry a folding scissors, measuring tape, markers ECT in a little tin or a fat medicine bottle in my project bags.
