Used to do something similar in South America more than 40 years ago for slash-and-burn agriculture. The actual tree (including the large logs) went to waste! With such buttress root system (as opposed to trees where the round trunk reaches near to the ground), it is more tricky to get the tree to fall in the right direction using a chain saw. Before the days of chain saws, we used bush vines to tie a circle around the trunk about 12 feet high (about 4 m), push two stout poles horizontally on each side of the trunk through that tie, bring the two outside ends to a X and fix those to two slanted forked sticks, all reinforced with bush vines. Then a few notches were cut along a buttress root to be used as access to get to stand on the horizontal poles so that the tree can be cut down using an axe. Took an average of 4 hours to cut down a tree similar to the one shown here. The side that you want the tree to fall will be notched to about 60 % across first (belly) , then it will be backed, all while standing on those two horizontal poles. At the first sound of creaking (caused the the tree beginning to fall), you had to throw away the axe to a safe (for you) position, scamper down that notched buttress root and run as far as possible in the direction perpendicular to the line of fall, located behind the direction you were facing when cutting at the trunk of the tree. There was always enough time to get out of the danger zone. If someone did not know any better, they might wonder how that tree was cut down at 15 feet (5 m) above ground level!! Then chain saw became common so that it took about 45 minutes to do the same job. It was (and still is) dangerous. Had two acquaintances who died from accidents when the falling tree broke off limbs from another tree that fell and killed them when using chain saws.

Ini adalah sebuah pohon raksasa yg teramat sangat besar & tinggi liar biasa se kali untuk merobohkannya pasti memakan waktu agak sedikit lama karena ukuran garis lingkarnya yg sangat besar belum lagi rentang akarnya tumbuh melebar Ke mana2 masih ada sang Jin gondrong penunggunya lagi. Gawat tapi biasa bagi penebang kayu2 besar tdk takut jugantdk heran untuk masalah itu.babat habis.👹🔥👹🔥👺🔥
It's such a shame to cut such a nice large tree ... probably took hundred years to grow, but then Who really cares about trees, all they know is to cut them... I wish this one would be in my back yard... I would love it
Jika di Indonesia tak apah ya. Jika di Malaysia tak boleh potong jika u tidak ada pemit.. Memang bahaya pokok besar ini ada Jin hutan dan hantu hutan duduk di atas pokok.. Di dusun kami ada seorang Cina mati ketana pokok plam yang berumur 60 tahun, bada dia 7 orang dewasa baeu boleh pusing habis.. Setiap hari dia bakar di kaki pokok dengan tyre hitam kereta dan diesel minyak.. Lepas 3 bulan pokok ru pun mati akhir ya Cina yg bernama Ah Seng pun mati, dia tidak bokeh makan, haya minium air sahaya, Jim pokok itu ada 3 adek beradek Jin hutan duduk di atas pokok Plam it u selama 50 tahun.. Atas pokok iru bokeh buat 3 pondok attap.. Ah Seng sekarang ada di bawah tanah yah !
Unless this tree is dead why would anyone cut it down. He does seem to be going about it all wrong. It would make a nice shelter for man or beast standing
It could be on someone's land and they want it off, hazzard, development, wanted to make slabs out of it, firewood are a few reasons why and the list can go on why it was cut.
