I am a millennial mom with high quality expectations on a controlled budget. I am extra, quirky, a little bit weird, and I love high low luxury, but seem to error heavier on luxx. My personal style ranges from Kanye to Lady Gaga and all that lies between..well lets throw in Selling Sunset/OC. Tumi is so timeless. It’s an outstanding quality brand. The warranty is amazing, I’ve have several pieces replaced no questions asked. I’ve been away for an extended trip and they shipped it to my hotel over night for free even before I sent them the damaged piece back. Outstanding customer service.

I opted for the Rimowa Original Cabin. At almost 2lbs lighter than the Tumi and only 1lb heavier than the Rimowa polycarbonate it is about as heavy as one would want for travel. You do have to be able to lift and take down from the overhead bins without help or dropping it on a fellow passenger when packed with clothes, shoes, etc. One big construction difference is the use of 3 hinges on the Rimowa vs 2 hinges on the Tumi. Twist or torque and the hinges from a heavily loaded side can throw the frame out of alignment resulting in a difficult to close case.

I'm a Rimowa person (I have purchased 4 of them - 3 are aluminum) but you make very good points for the Tumi. One negative though is the weight. The Rimowa classic is already very heavy when travelling on airlines that are not North American and mine is constantly overweight even when packing light. Dimension wise, it seems that both the Tumi and the Rimowa carry-on S are similar. TheTumi is less wide but it is deeper. So they both are "illegal" on most airlines.

That's why I opted for the international sizes with Tumi but I will say that weight is definitely something to consider big time. I still want a Rimowa and maybe just to use it for conus travel. I really appreciate your insight and I'm glad you brought this up before I learned the hard way.

I stopped buying Tumi when they dropped their warrantee and refused to repair a bag where the zipper failed at an airport.

Great to hear! I really love my Tumi and I don't think either is a horrible choice but if I could only have one It would for sure be the Tumi for luxury travel. Please let me know which you grab!

The rose gold looks nice …. Decided to go cheaper once seeing rimowa’s price tag and ultimately went with away after realizing everything in the Tumi I could get in the cheaper away with the lifetime warranty like rimowa.

Thanks so much for the video! I was wondering if you have any trouble packing all you need to pack in the Tumi and whether the weight of the luggage is ever a problem for you? My biggest hangup on aluminum luggage is how heavy they are! The Tumi is 13 pounds!!!

So I noticed that with the Tumi I have to make really smart decisions and most of the bulky items I pack in my carry on which is a duffle bag. You really want to use the thinner items and packing cubes for this version, especially because it does not extend. So far I have not been asked to weight my carry on so I can not give any help on that. However, this bad boy is solid so I can see it easily weighing over. I would likely not get the checked luggage in this model for that exact reason and because its a lot of money just to have it really dinged up. I'd opt for a beis checked luggage instead.

The Tumi came out with a Continental version of the 19 in blush. Now I'm completely torn between that and the Rimowa twist. I just can't stand the Rimowa interior, if it had a zippered interior it would be so much better.
