You guys were the ones to rescue those gun racks. 70 years or so it's taken the bunker to reach the state it is in now - flooded and maybe not far from collapse. A piece of world war 2 history you documented on video well. If only you had a screw driver handy. Leave them in place maybe, but a reminder of WW2 lost forever in the coming years? Yes. To think some carpenter 70 years ago spent hours/days crafting them, doing his bit for the war (my grandfather was one). I know you guys like to leave as is (and I agree) - untouched, but this physical reminder of WW2 where our country faced invasion needed to be rescued from the state of oblivion. You guys have the qualification, to do the honour on that rare occasion to rescue an icon from history. - Give the thumbs up if you agree subscribers.

i don't know those bunkers were built .... well bomb proof no pun intended, any electrical would be screwed, but the structure its self seems to be in decent shape just pumping out that water will prolong the life of that building. as i posted earlier if we had these in the U.S. i would go through and restore that bunker then probably live in it XD

Man if i found one of these bunkers near me i would pump out the water if it was flooded and make it into a home... all you need is a couple solar panels and batteries and a sealed suit to remove the asbestos and you are golden.

I wonder how big of a pump would be needed to drain it. Place is fantastic, want to see more!
@D0csavage1
@D0csavage1 7 лет назад
A commercial pump would be required (go fund me time). But would that be wise? As it would allow idiots to gain access and destroy the history that's left. But in saying that I would weigh up the chance of this piece of history being lost forever due to a possible cave in and take those gun racks. A fool won't get the chance but these guy's that cherish history do.

Depending how far underground it is; an old fire engine would be the fastest way to drain it in my opinion. Pump it at a low pressure to flow more water

Good work! At least the vandals won't be mucking about. One suggestion. If you can get a hold of a local well digger or hydrological expert to get an idea on how the water moves thru.the strata and/or when the local water table is at its lowest and/or after a long enough dry spell. The main thing is you can see the water comes up higher and most likely goes lower. Visiting it when the water level is at its lowest. Either that or Go fund me an industrial pump.

My great grandfather was stationed in nearby Paddock Wood for his training during the war before the invasion of Europe. He told me that he had met Montgomery in Tunbridge Wells and that it he supposedly had an underground HQ in the woods. I’m assuming that during the war the existence of these tunnels was top secret.

Evidence of exposed ductwork with that galvanized strap shows habitability was removed when it was mothballed like our ships in Bremerton Washington that have been decommissioned and replaced by new ones with the same name. there must be HVAC wherever there is habitability. and at some point after a nuclear attack there has to be a need to bring in outside air. I would love to see just once what kind of air filter can safely bring in outside air removing nuclear fallout !

Great series guys. I wonder if the fabric you found down there would be similar to the linen that used to be used on early aircraft or even the Swordfish!!!! Have you thought of using a cheap red laser pointer to point out the special items you are highlighting? Gathering local testimonies from folk who would have been stationed there would help bring your video even more alive but the youngest of squaddies would be well into their 90's. 👌👍

great video chaps. I wonder if this bunker had the same problems as the Paddock bunker used only once by Winston Churchill. because it got rather damp. Perhaps they stopped construction due to damp? I guess this project would have been ultra top secret when it was being built at the time of the threat of invasion.Of course materials and everything was it short supply so they cut their losses. Perhaps the government didn't keep records as it was a failed project. I am just guessing IKS Exploration Best channel on you tube, cheers

I don't know whether you will see this, but the RCA long line (long wave) radio setups are pretty cool stuff in the States. But.... there was a video about the original radio stations (in line retransmitters) , that have HUGE towers. The one I saw on RU-vid was in Ohio. It was cooled ( orig. vacuum tubes size of about 14 yr. old kid), and it was cool, but also water cooled, and there was spool, or series of pools, with sprinklers recycling the cooling water. Really BIG. It's like a mad scientist's laboratory. 😮 😳😵‍💫😳😳

Fascinating 3/16"inch galvanized Johnson decking for commercial buildings where lightweight concrete is poured for each floor, has been rolled into pipe with male and female connection points with 3/16" in. rolled hat Channel as reinforcement and hydraulic-concrete reinforcement for storage of ordinance & weaponry to withstand, "concussion blast" and prevent further explosion. I wonder how good the filters are on that sump pump and if it's 1 or 2 -12 cylinder diesel engines driving it? There has to be water filled sub-basement's throughout parts of this bunker structure with access doors now under water.

moedogger21 the hand held meters we use in HVAC would be very affordable to tell you if there is inert methane & Co² gas and what kind which would be like drowning to fill the lungs you can breathe it but it doesn't do any good. People drop dead after walking through a hatch and taking three steps on safety films that we see. another guy goes in to pull them out and he drops dead. but you can see nothing lives on top of that water there must be diesel fuel in the water. no lgr Moss or any microbial life forms. Co² would be the danger I would think and low oxygen levels. however rusty metal increases the oxygen. the Devil's Triangle is said to be full of methane gas Rising off the floor of the ocean and sinking ships and bringing down planes because the ships are not buoyant and planes cannot remain Aloft.
