256 minor odu 🥺🥺 And all odu has their incantations and stories 🤲🏽🥺🥺 To learn and understand the odus without mixing the whole thing up is giving me goosebumps 🥺🥺🥺🥺 Thanks for sharing this sir. I have always respected Ifa, this video just increased my love for it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@juicysmoye4758 Foreign order and formality will only promote FOREIGN standards, and will further relegate to nothing, our views, expressed in our language and according to our own God-given understanding and culture.
@@alfalfred8722 Truth doesn't lie solely in one culture or race, your job is to discern the truth and apply it to yourself and your community. There is a ring of truth in the Ifa system of divination hence its perpetuation, there's also a ring of truth in the scientific method, this has been proven. The system of divination lends itself perfectly to the mathematical principles of probabilities, Quantum physics and a corpus of literary possibilities all of which fortunately are ideas codified under Western sciences. Will you now say because science was formalized by the west, it should not apply to the system of Ifa? Ifa is science albeit holistic in nature as per the Yoruba system. If you fail to codify it, to prove it's reproducibility and efficacy via the scientific method, if you fail to make it appealing to a wider community of the human race, have no doubt, Ifa won't dissappear, it will be adopted by a more willing race, dare I say the Western.
@@juicysmoye4758 I'm looking for an African concept developed from within and in our language, not copied from Harvard and Oxford books. That's where our survival lies. China is doing it, India and other Asian countries are doing it. It is even shameful that the lecture is in another language.
@@alfalfred8722 Dono what you're referencing with your China and India bits; what I observed is that those nations have adopted the scientific method in proving their indigenous lore. Ifa should/MUST follow suit.
This is spectacular, the type of production I have been looking for. I appreciate the narration and the performance as a combination. Please, is it possible to have the performance on its own without the narration? The only reason is that I want to get the full length of the Ifa songs, especially the opening song as well as all the poems chanted.Thank you Sir.
Is it our ignorance and gullibility and care free attitude. We Yorubas nearly lost our very rich and highly valuable culture and heritage, it is high time we open up our senses and do the needful. UK
@tkelani I wish and pray you are able to explain, What happened to all this Wisdom When Slavery happened? It pains me always that I am not connected to the spirituality that existed before all the Slave trades contaminated everything. I acknowledge the fact that some natives definitely helped all that happened that destroyed a lot of the culture. Where were all the orishas when the Slave trades began? Where were all the Babaláwos??
@@samueljamessamueljames4u hahahaha. It takes years and years of training in a very specific way. One, you must know how to speak Yoruba back to back. its a course that having a PhD in it is not enough. IFA contains Science, Mathematics, Philosophy... IFA is what Bible is to the Jews/Christians
@@samueljamessamueljames4u @ oh okay. I think when we get the Yoruba Nation, we have to figure out how to invest in IFA research and development so that we can codify and catalogue them to make it easeir to teach. But work to learn it, you have to be ready to move to someplace in the State of Osun or something. Training lasts for a life time...so its not something to pick up. It has to be your calling or your chosen
@@annbrubeck8088 Yes Am From Osun State Also My Major concern is that there are many dubious people who are involved in IFÁ am only taking my time to find the Right And Genuinely People to Get The Knowledge And Understanding Of IFÁ.
Ifa may seem to fail to you because you haven't kept up with relevant information about intellectual work on-going not only at home but places like South America. Scholars are working in the binary equivalent of the Odus and other expertise is broken down into disciplines. Mathematics of Ifa, Philosophy of Ifa, Literature of Ifa etc. It is a complete Yoruba indigenous knowledge system. There us Ifa College in Oyo founded by Prof Wande Abimbola with eleven faculties!
@@tkelani when it comes to cinema in Nigeria, You are the pinnacle. Why ifa is not being taught in Nigerian universities. We have western and eastern philosophies, why not AFRICAN philosophy? Pls more videos on ifa.
You mean like the bible and qu'ran are innovating and modernising? You mean like how Einstein, Bacon and Socrates are innovating and modernising? By 'innovating and modernising' you mean no longer IFA.
I only learned of her once she passed, this was in 2020, yet I was' looking for her' 20 years prior, but was only offered black americans as my history when I wanted to see and hear my Yoruba African story and history. We each need to do better to ensure our people who have dedicated their lives to keeping our history alive are known and their work is disseminated.
