I just installed the 5160's on my AT4 and love them. I am waiting for the 6112's for the front. Sad the 5160's came with that ridiculous clamp. The kit now comes with the Bilstein Shock Reservoir Mounting Brackets 11-176015. Just for appearance alone, you could mount this on the shocks in place and then take of the clamp. $42. at Summit racing.
I really like how far your tires stick out. Looking for something similar. Could you tell me the geometry of the wheels you're on? Size and offset, particularly?
17" wheels with either 0 or +1 offset. There's only a handful of companies selling 17s that fit tundras as the brake calipers are huge so it necessitates really specific specs for the inside dimensions. These are from a company called fuel that you typically have to buy at a brick and motor shop. The tires are 35" 12.50r 17.
@@jza61nick sick man I finally got my hands on a 2nd gen Tundra and I'm reversing all the mall crawler looks especially the 20s with 295/55's lmao they're at least murders so it'll have to do for now
Should of done shackles instead of that block in the back... but otherwise sick set up man. I got the same coil overs/rear struts. Not a fan of the blocks. Shackles serve more of a purpose, ride quality and lift.
All of my work trucks carry a constant load. Longer shackles also reduce the effective spring rate so with a static load you will often times be at the same height. The truck in this video got totalled but I bought another. My flat bed tundra has after market leaf springs, that one has longer shackles to match the spring rate of the pack. Also the rear doesn't have struts.
@@jza61nick I gotcha, that makes a more sense based on your constant payload/towing. Oh dang! You got a flatbed Tundra now?! Where are some videos of it?! lol Always like to see some cool flatbeds ideas. Great video btw man. Explanation is on point with the set up you had on the old Tundra. You got my like & sub!
I want to order some 6112s with the highest setting 2.5 and 5160s in the rear. I have some Fuel wheels 18x9.5 that I want to put some Nitto Ridge grapplers 35x12.5. I wonder if I’ll have a rough ride, if I’ll rub, need shims, or need UCAs. 2019 SR5.
Good video - when you set the fronts too high and then lowered it did you compress the spring on the truck or remove them? I just got a 15 and 6112 fronts are pretty new but I want to lower it and would be nice if I can sneak in compressors on the truck
Very nice tundra ! I have a 2018 with TRD dual exhaust ( black chrome tips) and a TRD Cold air intake .. and I’m still searching for a Lift kit/ suspension upgrade. For my next huge mod At the moment I’m looking at the BDS 3 inch coil over lift , have you heard anything about this lift? But anyways how do these Bilsteins do for you ride quality wise ?
Glad I landed on this video. Looking at the 6112 and 5160 setup for my 2019 Tundra. On your rear can you share what add a leaf you went with and the width of the block?
No upper control arm modification was required to use the bilstein 6112. I run these in the second highest setting with no problem assuming they are couple with a diff drop to correct cv axle angle. I actually posted this here as a way to talk with someone about their truck. must have made it public without noticing.
Nice quick video, very informative. How did you like the ride at the highest lift on the 6112? Did ride quality suffer? And why what made you go a s step down, did the front get too high? Thanks.
I went down a notch because it was tall enough to clear the tires and I know as I go higher I loose downwards suspension travel. Going up increases the spring preload so it does increase the hardness of the ride. For that reason and the previous I always go up the minimum for the tires I want to run. Low profile tires + highest spring rate setting is awful. With these big ass 35" on 17" wheels it's probably not that big of a deal to run on the top notch.
this truck did get a body mount chop. pretty much any tundra on 35'' will. the alternative is going with an outrageously tall lift and ruining the truck. with some cut off wheels, and a welder you can do it without any loss in structural integrity.
Nice truck . I have a new Tundra and want to get that coil over set up you have just to level the front with the back. Did you have to add anything else to your front lift? Like lowering transfer case ?
If you want to use the top two settings a different drop and drive shift drop are a good idea. You'll end up with drive train vibration on initial Acceleration if you do not
@@jza61nick , did the Bilstein 5100 all way around. Really happy with it. Toyota dealer did install and said won't effect warranty because it's not a over done level lift. Only gained 1 1/2 inches on front but that was exactly what I wanted and rides better than expected on the 5100. Fronts set at middle setting.
@@jza61nick so after my front only bilstein 6112s set at highest level get installed with my stock 18” wheels I can get 35 inch tall tires without a body mount chop..?
Yes, but if you want lowoffset wheels like most do than you'll have to reshape the front body mounts. Stock offset wheels will clear the body mount with 35s.
The coilover is 6112 and the rear resi is the 5160, from what I have been told anything over 2" lift you need a new UCA, some people do 3" instead and no issues except alignment for some.
This truck is dead, but it performed much better than the oem Tokios Or the TRD off road Bilstiens - which are basically these but smaller/ without external reservoirs.
I believe 2.5” , and yes 35” will rub at full lock when stuffed, (full turn and shock completely compressed) the further your tire sticks out the more you will rub, never use rear blocks. AAL is best
Alright man, I really don’t appreciate the close ups of your wheels at the end. I *love* 35s with 18-17 inch rim, but I have 20s (TSS package). I keep telling myself that I’m just gonna stay with them, but you’re really tempting me…
Np man, glad to help. I've always preferred small wheels with big tires, mostly just to keep the wheels protected haha. Your 20s are worth quite a bit used :D.
@@jza61nick I assume I’d only get $500 max? They are in pretty good condition. If I HAVE to get new rims, they’ll definitely be 18s. With the setup I’m looking to run, I’ll need wheel spacers. Depends on if the shop advises against it or not.
@@texanerection492 you could get more, everything is negotiable haha. I don't use wheel spacers on trucks given the expected load, but there's plenty of people who do. You can get the same look by going with lower offset wheels. The ones in this video are 0 offset. Stock is around +30 if I recall
@@jza61nick true. My biggest deciding factor for the stuff I (will) do to my truck is “can I practically use this thing if I *have* to?”. I don’t use this specific truck for hard work/towing, but I don’t want it to be un-useable. I wanna be able to do some off-roading and towing to some extent. I’ll just have to ask my shop for their $.02 tomorrow🤞🏻… (this instance it’s the wheel spacers).
