the mechanism of producing spark is, if there is a high voltage (inside the capacitor or condenser or coil) which is connected to a small gap (like a spark plug), then sparks start flying off from one end to another. If the key is turned on, then the high voltage is generated and so, it should work. Do not confuse a car with a bike because in a car, the ignition system is controlled by a battery whereas in the bike, it is controlled with a dynamo. The distributor is a rotating switch. As the engine rotates, the distributor rotates and makes contact with one spark plug wire to send spark into that spark plug. Then it rotates some more and transfers the spark into the next spark plug. In my spark plug tuning video, I create a second spark gap between the fat wire and the body of the car so that I can see the spark for myself. You might be wondering how spark is generated if the positive side of the fat cable is unplugged. But the thin negative wire connecting the condenser to the distributor is still connected. So, when I bring the fat cable to the body, the circuit becomes complete. At this moment, if I align the distributor perfectly, only then the switch is turned on and I can see the spark. Hence, I get the perfect timing. And please don't tell me that timing gun is better. That is non sense. If you are tuning the distributor, you can exactly pinpoint the location of spark sound and accurately align the distributor. If you use a timing gun, then the light generated will have an inherent delay. So, that is an inaccuracy. And the light will not come for only a microsecond for the timing gun to be pinpoint accurate. The gun will remain lit for a range of time so the error in adjustment could be a couple of degrees. And spotting with gun is time consuming and requires expertise. But everyone can hear the sound of spark. I hope this clarifies your doubt.

You can put the car in 4th gear and remove distributor cover or vice versa. Not so important. But you should not rotate the center piece with your hand. You simply push or pull the car until it roughly points in the direction I have shown you. Then push or pull further until you see a marking on the flywheel and then align it with your indicator. The centerpiece at this stage will roughly still be in the same direction. Now, put the distributor cover back on and complete rest of process.

It should be 4 rotations for the back mixture screw. The front screw is OK. If you are satisfied with the result, it is OK.You will get 18kmpl on highways at the speed of 80 with full load with AC if there is no fault. For the ultimate accuracy in tuning, open one of your spark plug and see whether the tip is white of pinkish brown or black. It should be light pink to pinkish brown. Then you know that you have the perfect mixture. If it is black, tighten the back screw half rotation. If the spark plug is white, loosen the back screw half rotation. That is the final step.

I get 19-20kmpl at 80-85kmph. Front screw is fully tightened and back screw is about 1 turn

Yes. You can use the same method. It works for all maruti 800s as long as they are carburetted (i.e. you have the same engine layout as mine with a round air filter).

Yes, he is right. If everything is right i.e. you have no loose negative wire from distributor to ignition coil and a wire to carburetor is also tightly put, then you have a problem with either spark plug leads or ignition coil. Start your engine, let it idle and pull one spark plug wire out. See if the engine still works. If it is working, put it back on and pull another plug out. See if it is working. If the engine stops at pulling any one of the plugs, it is time to change the spark plug wires. Change all of them at once or you will have another one of them failing in short time. If the engine is working fine at all times, then your ignition coil has gone wrong.

Too advance firing causes engine to heat up fast. The distributor firing time may be reviewed.

I think the mixture is lean so it is lacking power or engine needs advance firing which can be adjusted through distributor. Best to use tachometer while tuning. It has to be kept at optimum RPM.

malikdanyal yes, if you have low idle rpm, you will have the problem. another reason might be the clutch but if you did not have problems before tuning, it means that the clutch is good, only the idle is a bit low. increase the idle and everything will be fine

Aveem Ashfaq thnx Bro ,when I turn headlight on it's like a load on car and engine bit vibrate ..after first adjustment .... now I mess up both idle and mixture screw.... kindly tell me first I adjust idle or petrol screw in carburator?? When I increase idle car rpm increase too much .... and air screw adjust only after one turn ....kindly guide me .

malikdanyal I think you should follow tlmy video step by step. whatever I do in the video first comes first to you as well. and please follow all steps.

the rubber pipe is for air. It is not for petrol. So you wont see any petrol flowing at all. Just reconnect those pipes and see if it works. If not i can guide you further. I have sent you my mail id in one of your comments

Usually, you will get smoke when the piston rings are worn out. Piston rings form a seal between piston and cylinder. If the leak is loose, engine oil mixes with petrol and you will get smoke. Your engine oil level also starts to fall down. Confirm if your engine oil level is falling down for every 2000-3000 kms. If that happens, it means you have to do an engine overhaul. There are no shortcuts to it.

You did not follow the instructions completely. First open the distributor cap, push or pull the car until that rotating thing points where I showed it to point in the video and then push or pull the car some small distance so that you will find the flywheel marking. If you skip the step of pushing or pulling the car until the rotating thing points in a direction, you will not get spark. If you have any doubts, mail them at aveemashfaq (at) gmail (dot) com

adjust idle rpm, check ignition wires attached to spark plug..if needed replace them along with new spark plugs...clean point set condenser and distributor cap.

What do you mean not idling properly? Is there low rpm when engine is cold or is there problem even when it is hot? is it under AC conditions or non-AC conditions? Generally, you don't need to replace parts at all. If your idle is too low, I have told you how to improve the idle at 5:54 of this same video. Check it out.

What about the mileage now..? how much you are getting after this ?

distributor is a mechanical part. It is always repairable with the help of a hammer and cutting plier. Don't try to remove the distributor out as putting it back is a mess. Instead, try to repair it there itself. The big fat rotating copper plate in the center of distributor is supposed to have clearance with all objects. The two plates below it with the capacitor are supposed to have tiny gap near the beads. Just enough wide that a visiting car will pass through. What is the problem with your distributor?

the plate mounted and attached to the shaft of the distributor is touching the distributor body. this is the bottom most part and the distributor weights are mounted on this plate. i am seeing rotation markings on the distributor body!.. Unfortunately none of the mechanics are willing to remove the dizzy here. And spares too are not available at any shops authorized or local. also the weights are sticking. I tried to free them up but all in vain. I also cannot source the springs which are attached to the weights. pls help regards

When you are giving a lot of acceleration, the smell of petrol is normal. If you are still getting the smell even at low speeds, then tighten the screw at the front of the carburetor (which we rotated 1.5 times) around 0.5 rotation.

is your car overheating? check the temperature guage. The tuning will not create problems. But if some other part is not working so well, then you will have problems.
