Good topic. I still fish lead weights 90 percent of the time. Too many toothy critters In these northeastern N.C. rivers. It gets expensive when bowfin and chain pickerels are active.

Bass pro used to sell black brass weights and they were awesome. They were a lot cheaper than tungsten and more sensitive than lead. I use Picasso and mustad tungsten now, smooth holes and zero line damage.

Good one Kevin. Like you said it's subjective and personal preference. For me tungsten comes through cover better. Can't say I like the price though. 👍👍👍

I buy some tungsten once in a while. Like it much better for pitchin. Still use smaller lead for worms.

I prefer Tungsten for pitching myself. Preferably 3/8oz

Over time, I find myself fishing more and more with the tungsten weights. To me, the sensitivity is so much better. The cost is crazy expensive though. Fished with lead for years and caught plenty of fish. If you’re on a budget, can’t go wrong with lead.

For sure. Tungsten is definitely superior but the price is definitely up there

I fish both. 1/8 ounce lead because tungsten too small and can get caught in the tip of the rod guide. I fish 1/4 ounce tungsten. I flip with tungsten.

Great video Kev. Ive been thinking about switching to Tungsten for Texas rigging. Kev, i use 1/8 oz for texas rigging rage bug, should I fish a heavier weight? I always value your opinions and lures. 👊🏻👊🏻

Good explanation of the comparisons and thats why i just flat out prefer tungsten. I buyem up when i see them on sale/discounted whether I need them or not.

I got hooked on tungsten about 4-5 years ago. I can just feel the bottom bumps so much better. Lead weight feels more "mushy" or a "blunt" feel when it hits bottom whereas the tungsten hitting bottom or a rock feels like a sharper contact or a "click". Plus a 1/16 or 1/8 tungsten weight is a tiny little thing! I do hate the cost though

I use it mainly for the small size but it is more sensitive on a rocky bottom

I like tungsten, but it’s cost-prohibitive for me.
