Apologies for the framing, I have a new camera mount and will need to check it in future
This is a radio I demonstrated a few months ago. I replaced the lethal power supply with a regulated unit and have been through the radio replacing all the paper caps and resistors.
The front panel needed a clean and I retained the power switch as the damage has already been done. My dynamotor model will use the "toilet flusher" to switch the power
The default AVL gain was far too high so I backed this off. It works well on broadcast AM stations but for ham use the MVC seems better
The high voltage linear regulator is based on a LR8N3 driving a TIP50 and set to 220V which is far better than series resistors and zenner diodes. The power supply runs nice and cool with a total consumption of 35 watts
It was a bit early in the evening for 80M and 40M seemed a little flat?
