The sound used in the Background is a diffrent station called "The Lincoln Poacher". Most likely a British owned station on Cyprus, most likely used to send instructions to spies.
I might actually resubscribe to watch _The Lincolnshire Poacher._ At least the first season, before they killed off all the characters I liked and changed everything around in the finale to be Edgy and Unexpected.
The Lincolnshire Poacher series would be about the team behind the Poacher trying to locate a RU-vidr who is about to expose them. The finale is in a dark churchyard in Portugal.
I love the concept of the Grey Line creeping up behind you. "There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone".
Ive never been able to pull in the buzzer, but I'm in the eastern US. BUT that being said about a hundred miles north of me there use to be a KiwiSDR that was able to receive it. My area just isn't that great to receive stations.
Cool Beans. I'll have to give it a go with my TxRx and 40 meter inverted V here in NY state. Surprisingly the 40 meter inverted V does well on 4 Mhz receiving according to the SDR & even rhe VNA suggests it receives decently there too so I may get lucky.
"What was the point of going to Portugal to pick up this signal?" commenters ask. Clearly, the point was to demonstrate to other agents that yes, don't worry, you _can_ go on holiday to Portugal and still pick up your instructions from the Center. :)
Nice way to bring back an interesting video from your vacation 😁 I wish I had done the same (well, I don't have a RU-vid channel anyway). The Buzzer was coming in fairly strong some evenings up to the pointy end of Brittany where I was for my summer vacation. it's always a special moment for us SW listeners...
How fascinating - I love the number stations, this reminds me of them. And now I want a shortwave radio, like you've got. Looks like a fun hobby~ Cool video + cheers
5:01 Congrats Lewis on you successful outing! Hope you enjoyed your trip to Portugal and your videos have made me want to get a wireless and start scanning the DX!!!
Jep churches have bells hehe, nice edit and video. I ordered some antennae a few splitters and a nice balun and I'm making a nice pre amp, and my FM dipole gets another position, I have to keep earning €€€ to buy more equipment.
nice video. surprised just the antenna on radio can pick that up. the noise floor must be really low . one of the problems I have in the US is background noise. only a few campsites buy me have a low noise floor. would love a trip with my lady to a place where even a cell phone dont work. great place to play radio and just shut if off and enjoy . 73's
21:06 in the center of the Netherlands, sun is down, but daylight is still fading. My pl-330 can already receive the buzzer, tho not very clear yet. Oh, that is on the telescope antenna, indoors.
I remember the intro melody quite well from my time as a dx-er during the 1980's - always wondered at the time what all these number stations and other weird channels were - there was no internet back then to do a quick google query. Interesting that so many of these stations are still around.
Excellent video! I loved the cinematography and the way you brought in the excitement and mysticism of shortwave radio with Lincolnshire poacher at the beginning. I also wanted to thank you for sparking my new interest, and hobby in shortwave listening. Hopefully I can catch UVB-76 on my little Tecsun PL-330. Thank you, from upstate NY.
Good as always. I heard The Buzzer last night (8-18-23) on my FT-DX10 and my 66 ft end-fed antenna. The antenna is at 35 ft above the ground...my house sits at 1100 feet at the base of Mount Hood here in the Portland, Oregon area. The Buzzer was barely there, but it was definitely there. 73
Funny...I skipped the first few minutes and I thought "this really looks like Portugal...". I've heard the UVB-76 years ago through WebSDR, but I actually didn't know you could do it in Portugal without an really good setup! I wonder if I can hear it with my cheap RTL...
I've had the radio since February. Take care with the long wire, mine broke just next to the strain relief on the plug even though I wrapped it carefully
For a minute, I thought you were gonna give us a bit of Derek Akorah and summon a long gone KGB agent! Is anyone else catching themselves going about whistling the poacher lately?
Great job. That intro was most impressive. Very artistic, creative and fun. One question: Do your eyes always glow in the dark or was that done exclusively for this episode? 🤣🤣🤣
When that Bell rang I bet you thought Putin had caught up with you 🤣 Has anyone been able to translate what the 'Buzzer' is broadcasting? I'm guessing you're on holiday or have you moved over there?
Could you please leave the captions at the bottom of the screen on for a few seconds longer to give me a little more time to read them pleaseHi Lewis When you add comments for us to read on your videos, could you please leA
Whenever I was listening to the buzzer I was hoping to be listening to it when they would send coded messages. And then right around when the war in Ukraine began listening to this station and hearing all the messages being transmitted on this station. It felt unworldly, unrealistic, impossible, just like the thought of war. From now on I hope I will never have to hear a new message from this station.
