I am an 82 year old male crocheter who started at age 11 (yes, I’ve been crocheting for over 70 years). I first tried Tunisian about 40 years ago when making the background fabric for a Bernat cross stitch afghan. The instruction sheet walked me through what I now know was the simple stitch to make the afghan strips. I finished the project, put away the afghan hook, and forgot all about it until I started watching your videos and tutorials about 2 weeks age. You fired me up, girl! Now (after a couple days practice) I’m working on a lace stitch Tunisian scarf project. Can’t wait to see where I go from there.

Tunisian is one of the first things my grandmother taught me over 60 years ago. Until I found you, I only knew the simple stitch, which I grew up calling it the Afghan stitch. I’ve definitely moved on, making several of your patterns. Your tutorials, and your book, are wonderful. Thank you for promoting this wonderful craft.

I learned Tunisian crochet via your RU-vid channel. I bought your book (Absolutely amazing!!!), and made the braided headband, made it a bit bigger and added more yarn to make it a cowl and then emailed you a picture of my daughter modeling the two pieces. When you emailed me back with positive feedback, I was completely blown away and felt like a school girl meeting her fave celeb! My advice to any newbies is to learn from you! Your voice is comforting, your instructions and tutorials are simple and easy to grasp, and your glowing personality brightens up the darkest days! Thank you, Toni, for all that you bring to the world of crafting!

I just started Tunisian crochet and coming from someone who has been doing “traditional” crochet up until now I am in LOVE with this style. To anyone nervous to start I actually think it’s much easier than traditional crochet especially when working with difficult yarn such as a stiff cotton. I am having difficulty learning how to add on to pieces that I’ve created to extend one side or another, if you have a video on that? Just found your channel and I love it so far! The craft community on RU-vid is top tier 👏 !

I’m 75 now, but when I was young even though I crocheted (Grandma taught me), when I saw a book with how to Tunisian crochet I just assumed it was hard - I was thrown off by the name “Tunisian”. It’s foreign like learning a new language, so it will be hard. I had enough hard things in my life so I said I'll pass. There were no videos and definitely no Toni Lipsey to show me how easy it really is. After I retired and saw your videos I gave it a try and I was hooked. My favorite blanket I made is Tunisian. Love you❤️

I love Tunisian. I learned it as a child. I didn’t know you could make patterned stitches until I was in my 50s. My favorite is to do the standard and then cross stitching designs on top. I have many vintage pattern books featuring these cross stitched afghans.

Cross-Stitch is excellent! If the fabric uses fine enough yarn with a small hook, you can do Crewel Work, or other types of embroidery in addition to Cross-Stitch.

I love tunisian crochet because it's fun and it creates beautiful fabrics! I taught myself in 1988 by reading a pattern book so I could make my firstborn's special blanket. We still have it and it was so much fun to learn something new in crochet as I was going to learn life lessons as a new parent. I love it most because it looks like knitting(which I don't know how to do) and can follow a graph to make pictures and color changes easily. I also love watching your videos! Thanks!

I started crocheting nearly 5 years ago, about a year and a half ago, I started tunisian. I love both equally but I go to tunisian for colorwork. Not having to turn the work is a gamechanger. I used tunisian to make a piano pattern scarf and being able to carry the colors saved me so much time. I'm now making a gingham print baby blanket for my choir director who's having a baby using the same technique

I love Tunisian crochet. I was purging and found a bunch of skeins bought for a project and decided to make a rectangular Tunisian Entrelac blanket for my livingroom. One skein matched my new couch. I also found an old pattern for a dinosaur Tunisian blanket. Squares are 12x12 and then you cross stitch the dinosaurs onto the front. Tunisian simple stitch makes it easy to make and X. I plan to sew flannel on back of completed blanket.
