This tutorial will show you how to make a fun and delicious citrus slice coaster with colorful yarn. Make a set of fun, summery coasters for your home or your family using Tunisian crochet.
Enjoy a lemonade on a lemon coaster or a summer cocktail on a lime coaster.
Find the brightest and colorful yarn from your stash to make these.
You can find the written instructions for this pattern on my blog:
---
If you are new to Tunisian crochet in the round, check out my previous tutorial that will show you how to make a simple circle (and end up with super soft face scrubbies in the process):
• Tunisian crochet face ...
---
You will need about 6 grams or 15 meters of 4-ply cotton yarn, size 3, with 115 meters per 50 grams, a 4.5 mm crochet hook or size close to 4.5 mm (4 or 5 if 4.5 mm is not available), scissors and tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
---
The PDF pattern includes step-by-step photos of the process and is available on my website here:

My first time doing tunisian crochet so it was a little difficult but I finished and love it very much. This pattern is so beautiful. Thank you!

Adorable pattern and great tutorial! Loved the special techniques for Tunisian crochet: short-row wedges, invisible seam, invisible final join. Everything is so clear, and I appreciated how you showed your prototypes at the beginning. Getting these on my hook right now! 🌹

Thank you! Yes, those skills are useful in the long run when doing Tunisian. I'm glad you found it helpful!

Not only are these adorable, this tutorial is excellent. I watched with the sound off and completely understood everything you were doing. Also, I have never seen magic loop formed like that and it seems much easier than the method in used to (wrapping around the hand).

These are amazing! I might want to crochet these and put them in Resin so they last forever.
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy Год назад
Thank you! You could try, just keep in mind that resin yellows over time. For lemon and orange slices that might actually be a good thing, now that I think about it. Extra dimension to the color 😀

I am looking forward to trying this, but, I wish you had gone a little slower and had done at least one more section repeat. I will come back when I have completed one and let you know how I have done. It is so beautiful! Thank you for putting up this tutorial.
@YarnAndy

Please use the speed settings to make the video slower and turn on the closed captions for instructions. Also check out the scrubby video, I think I did more repeats on that one. But the nice thing about videos, as opposed to live stuff, is that you can rewind as many times as you need to.

@@YarnAndy thank you very much for taking the time and replying to me. Yes, I had forgotten about the slower speed of the videos that can be made and closed captioning, thank you for reminding me. I hadn't stopped and slowed my brain down and think things over. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank you so much!

How to make this giant size? Personally i think this type of style is great in making top parts of custom bucket hats 😚
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy 2 года назад
For a larger size, I'd go with longer rows and more short rows in between them. I'm working on a pattern for a larger circle, but there are some already out there. Or you could use the sun square pattern and just not change colors. Or change colors to make the slices directly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LkPDZqt28T0.html

I wish this was made in higher contrasting colors, it gets blurry during section 2 and slowing the video doesn't change that. Section 1 and seaming was easy to follow. I ended the tunisian at the pulp around and continued it in regular crochet for the white & rind, and made it a granny square. Thank you! *the number of stitches to have before the rind and after the rind wasn't mentioned
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy Год назад
Aw, sorry I didn't know back then to choose higher contrasting colors. Thankfully, there's also a photo tutorial with the orange in the blog post, did you use that as well?
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy Год назад
You have 32 stitches to work into at the end of section 1 and 48 at the end of section 2. I will update the blog post with this info when I get the chance.

@@YarnAndy ahh! the blog pictures do help. I will try the full tunisian version for a future project as i've already improvised 4 squares. thank you again.
