I love the way you explained the horseshoe over the horizontal bar! Thats how i think as i move across...splitting the horseshoe! Its a beautiful stitch Jayda. I also love the look of catching both stitches at the end of the forward pass. It makes for such a nice finish on that edge. Tunisian is becoming a favorite of mine. You are such a wonderful, patient, amazing teacher! You seem to anticipate my questions! LOL! I am loving this journey!

When doing the Tunisian Knit Stitch it helps to pull the loop after picking them up and then after all the loops are picked up. I learned that tip from Toni from TLYarn Crafts
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches 2 года назад
Hi Cammy, pull the loop on the hook or the loop below it? If loops or stitches are a little "sloppy" looking, then yes, we can tug on individual loops to get them to "share" the yarn with their neighbours 😁

I love your tutorials. I did a little comparison between the crochet hook tunisian pearl stitch and the actual knitting needle pearl stitch. Pretty much the same except that the crochet stitch was a little heavier and used a little more yarn than the knitting needle. I was surprised at how similar both stitches looked. I'm not finding this quick OR easy. I have already ripped it out 4 times. Maybe it is the yarn I'm using...it's soft, splitty, and very fuzzy. I'm still confused by the stitch itself. My swatch came out perfect, but the rows of 38 stitches are not. Nevertheless, we are only two days into it. So if I have not worn out my whole skein of yarn by the end of the month, maybe there will be something that looks like the Tunisian Knit Stitch block.
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches 2 года назад
Hi Robin! It might be tricky to see the vertical bars that you want to put your hook through if you're using a fuzzy yarn...but then again, it might just require another visit to the sampler and it will "click" (sometimes that's what I do!)

@@JaydaInStitches Here it is June-day before the next installment. I managed to get 11 imperfect rows done on the Tunisian Knit Stitch block. Cannot figure out why some of my stitches are just plain wrong somehow. So now I am at the point where it's FUNCTION over FORM. If I manage to end up with 38 stitches on my hook (instead of 37 or 40) I go with it. right or wrong. I will not be giving away this blanket, but come December I hope it will at least be warm!
@susanfisher8944
@susanfisher8944 2 года назад
I just finished the “square” and it looks right, just like a knit stitch. I have 38 stitches across and 32 rows with the same 5.5 hook I’ve used for the other squares but this one is at least three inches too short - no way will blocking help. I have no idea what went wrong and the only thing I can figure to help is to crochet 9 extra rows. 🥴
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches 2 года назад
Hi Susan, like I said in the intro, it's going to be short (mine certainly was) and blocking does help a great deal, don't be afraid to stretch it as you block. It's a gradual blocking process, I spent around 15 minutes gently steaming it, stretching a section, steaming it some more, stretching it some more. It takes a while but it works 💗
@KimMesser514
@KimMesser514 2 года назад
Question...now when I knit, and it curls, I either do a knit purl edge at top and bottom OR put a border on and it stops the curling. So my question is, I noticed on your finishedvone u showed you have a border on it. Does that not make it not roll?
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches 2 года назад
Hi Kim, we add the same border to each of the squares and some stitches are tighter or more "rolly' than others. The border helps a little, but blocking is necessary for nice flat (or more controllable) fabric. 😊
@rosyposy6164
@rosyposy6164 2 года назад
Thank you for the great tutorial, Jayda (as always). As my tension is always tight, I took on board your suggestion and tried going up to a 6.5 mm hook for this block so far, so good but we will see how it turns out when I get to row 32!). Do I then use a 6.5 mm hook for the border or go back to a 5.5 mm hook as I have used for previous squares?
@JaydaInStitches

@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches 2 года назад
There's probably a lot of things that one might like about Tunisian. It's a way to get a knit look without knitting, it's fun to use a longer hook (especially if you're a knitter first) and you can add this sort of stitchery to existing knitting and crochet too!
@catlover2534
@catlover2534 Год назад
How do you keep all 38 stitches, I lose two or end up with only 37.
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches Год назад
Hi Allison, it sounds like you're skipping a vertical bar somewhere along your forward pass OR possibly pulling back through 3 loops rather than 2 loops on your reverse pass (that's easy to do, I have to watch what I'm doing when I reverse because I can go too quickly!). Also, don't miss the last vertical bar when you get to the end of the row, it can sometimes blend in with the edge loops. Count up your loops on your hook before you reverse. If you have 38, then go ahead and reverse, yarn over and pull back through the FIRST LOOP ONLY, then yarn over and pull back through 2. If you don't do that first loop only trick right at the beginning of the reverse pass, you'll also be short a stitch by the time you return to end of the row. I hope that helps!
