Set your pitching view to the same as your batting view, and you’ll start to see how god damn good changeups are. They went from my least favourite pitch to not using a pitcher that can’t throw one. It also explains why Nolan Ryan was so good in The Show 19.
I’m a huge Tigers and Yanks fan. But I’m an even bigger fan of Trev since he has this channel and is interacting on a personal level with us! He truly cares about growing this great pastime!
Nice job, Trevor. Can you point us in the direction of what drills, or practice routines we should use to achieve tunneling? Is it just a feel thing? Thanks for all the info you put out there.
Some day down the road i'd love to hear you talk with someone about sidearm and submarine pitchers and how someone decides to try it and an intro to how pitch movement differs with extreme arm angles.
As a hitter, I look for the pitcher' release point, the window. That enables me to determine the possible pitch and to stay on the ball longer. However, a well disguised tunneled pitch certainly makes it tougher on the hitter.
Thanks, Trevor great inside about tunneling, Tunneling is crucial for a pitcher, but it is easier said than done because it takes work to create muscle memory, take your bullpen sessions seriously have a plan for the day, what pitches you want to work on today and what arm stot you want to work on, think you are in a game, knowing what pitches to throw from the same arm slot especially if you have different arm slots is also important. Remember work with a purpose DONT WASTE A BULLPEN.
Great video. Can you do more videos on strategy based on what the better is doing or telling you. What works well if batters are hugging the plate, etc.
Great tip, so many pitchers are easy to read in where their pitches come from. And if you really want to mix it up and confuse the hitter...thrown one over the center field wall!😂
I believe it was the match up video against Votto where you overlayed two pitches to demonstrate this. I think it demonstrated better seeing the pitches on overlayed camera to really demonstrate how well this works
Perry Husband is the OG of all these concepts and released a number of books in the 2000’s. Hitting is a guess and effective velocity. I wonder if Trevor got this from Perry or Driveline
How do you work on tunneling? Video from the front or back I am guessing. I would love to be able to use this in my own pitching. Any tips are great thanks!
I am trying to find the book that you recommend (on one of your videos where you are in the outfield talking with a guy as you are in the Mexican League) about setting up hitters. I cannot locate the video. Can you please help me.
The thought of deceiving a hitter with the fastball at the top of the zone and dropping a curveball is great but can tunneling work with painting the bottom of the zone with fastballs then dropping a curveball that hits the dirt that the hitter might think is a fastball that paints the bottom of the zone again making them look like a fool?
Am I crazy or is the audio more quiet on this channel than others? I swear I always have to turn it up compared to other channels I watch. Otherwise, great content, keep it coming.
Mahle makes his living up in the zone including fastballs because he has more movement on his fastball up in the zone. If the hitters don't swing at it Mahle gets hurt unless the fastball is up in the zone but still in the strike zone. If Mahle don't get that pitch it is going to be a short night for him
