We should be ashamed of ourselves letting this great town end up how it is now , full of empty rundown shops and rubbish everywhere not like when i was growing up always full of people shopping on the high Street and up the square makes me sad seeing it now compared to this.
I remember during the miners strike seeing a man beaten by the cops and dumped in the middle of the road for the bus to run over 3:30 I waited in the ditch and when they'd gone I did my best to drag him onto the pavement.
Yes, I lived in Trentham and remember the police baton charging the miners peacefully picketing at the gates of the Hem Heath pit. It was a vicious and completely unprovoked attack. I've never trusted the police due to the things I saw during the miner's strike.
