Fun fact: If you put a 12-18 inch intake tube on your turbo, preferably with some kind of bend in it, your basic flutter sound will turn into that PROPER squeaky stutututu sound that you hear in those supra/skyline vids. This device is colloquially known about only in Australia, and is called a "dose pipe". Look it up, there's a 26-minute comparison video of different dose pipe sizes/shapes/materials on a channel called KeepItReet. Towards the end at the 22m mark or so is the back-to-back compilation of all the designs they used.
@@X7rocks The YT overlords don't like me posting links, but I'll try. More specific with the tube length, though, is you want it to be at least 3x as long as the diameter. And you want at least 2x the diameter in length before any bends or curves, with at least 1x the diameter in length AFTER any bend or curve. Otherwise, the stututu dies. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MjMsubwXGpE.html&ab_channel=KeepItReet ru-vid.comr6ISP9c8xNQ
I really enjoyed your video. I am not a Chevy guy but your project is absolutely cool and interesting. No bs quoting some rediculous weight trying to make excusses. Just a guy with a sealed motor V6 making progress and having fun in a truck. Drag racing in a truck just means more. Spending time with the kids too, great stuff man.
Didn't think that truck would be that heavy. My '93 extended cab c1500 is around 47-4800lbs with a turbo 3.1/4l60e Awesome build, love seeing non mainstream stuff!
Kudos on the truck and times, not too many people boosting 4.3's. Local chevy boy from salem oregon over here. Nice to see another local putting out videos 👍
Nice. I love doing builds like this. I’m gona tell you what you need to do. Get rid of the intercooler and run a meth kit that ramps in with boost. It will take care of the boost/fuel cuts happening and act like a supplemental fuel system and your IAT’s will drop. It will add some power and make the engine run clean and keep your air temps down. It would be good all around. But awesome build. Looks like a lot of fun
Check your pigtail on back of the distributor its for the cam sensor. I had same truck would cut out like that on the highway. The wires on that pigtail are very small and break from vibration. I put a new pigtail from Orielly's and never cut out again.
Thanks for the content my brother recently bought a truck just like yours the V6 included without you we probably wouldn't be deciding to make a V6 turbo build to be honest we don't need the V8 turbos on stock motors are some of the funniest builds you can have
Try a one step colder spark plug. That might solve your problem. I know when I installed a Procharger I had a problem with combustion before the plug fired. The octane booster helped you because it helped resist detonation.
13’s in a v6 truck for that kind of money. Can’t hate on that. I don’t know what you mean by “heat soaking” a coil. You probably have a cracked one that expands with heat then arcs over. If you have some data to narrow down the misfire focus on that, make sure your AFR is still good on the back end of the run, and tighten the spark gap with colder plugs. Good luck!
I ran a 12.04 @ 109mph Na 4.3L with a TH350 stock bottom end, 91 Sonoma @ 3200lbs 2WDR. 18 years ago. Had 12 degree GM high performance heads solid roller cam. It was a street killer @ the time
Where can I find one of the Mercruiser intakes? I watched one of your earlier videos when you were installing the intake but wasn't able to find the link to where you sourced it.
Love the video love seeing the underdog you can really squeeze a ton of power out of them especially if you give that thing a damn tune-up some plugs and wires maybe a coil. Get rid of that misfire the thing might pick up a bunch of mph
"Almost had that Challenger" 🙄😂 Not quite. He had you by 2 cars at the eighth, and then drove out of your life past that. Just found your channel, thanks for posting. Fun to see footage from a local track. Keep it up.
You are running with stock muscle cars of that era. Not bad really. I want to go to a test and tune but my truck has been buried in mud to the frame so I know it would drop dirt on the track and piss eveyone off. Probably gonna get a draggy or something. I'm building a street truck that will hopefully make it to the track one day.
Are you stopping before the end of the quarter? It looks like you are shutting down shortly after the 1000ft. I agree with most comments, tighter gap on colder plugs, etc.
Thee ol’ 3/4 350… that’s what we called them👍 basically a 350 minus 2 cylinders 😎 good strong lil engines… but that nv3500 that’s another story… but really any manual that has just a bushing instead of a bearing on the input shaft is short lived when worked hard!!! I killed one behind a stock 4banger in a ‘00 s10… 😢😂 NV3500 is a consumable like tires if ya beat on them 😎
I have a 2002 s10 4.3 an I had a random miss I couldn't find I changed an done everything you can think done compression test an it was good changed dizzy plugs wires coil crank sensor everything but the ecu an I started running seamfoam in the intake through a vacuum hose from the booster an it started running better and an better tell it just stopped missing everyone I talked to said it was carbon built up an it would only miss under hard pedal idk if this helps bud but I didn't think my truck be running on all 6 again so don't never question anything till you try it
Ive got the 98 GMC Sonoma, 4.3 TBI Vortec, 4sp. auto. SL Ext. cab. With 99,573mls. I'm gonna do a port & polish on it. But was wondering what a turbo and a mid level tune would. This literally a one little old lady owner unicorn. Garage kept with about 37,000 mls when I got it.
I had to move my coil off the intake to the firewall because the heat soak was killing the ignition control module, I also had issues with melting plug boots causing high rpm high load cutting out firecore50 custom wires stopped the melting, also played with plug gap i found with ngk copper 4177s at .028 for racing at 15psi and acdelco double platinums at .034 for daily driving at 8psi works best in mine
@@lifeonlimiter4519 it made a big difference for me, I was getting about 15k miles from ignition control module and coil while on intake, once i moved to firewall I haven't had to replace it and it roughly been 80k miles with same icm and coil, Im also using a msd 6al-2 box and msd coil this helped with my distributor cap and rotor last longer, also with the 2 step connected to clutch pedal and set to 3200 rpm I can no lift bang shift my nv3500
The 383 in my 97 van just ate the cap and rotor for about the 12th time since 1998. Little bit of misfiring, then it just quit. The cap and rotor both had burn out.
That’s crazy my car ran a 12.77 @ 113mph making 403hp. At bandimere somewhere around 6500ft above sea level and it weighs 4200lbs. I know you don’t believe me but a 9’’ rear, 4l80e, iron block, turbo kit, and a 10pt cage adds a lot of weight
Long throw shifts are costing you at least half a sec. An automatic would be a lot better. Also, your first couple passes, you really need to pre-heat those slicks better.
Love this shit ! LSs with turbo is getting old , ricer v6 gets old. May need to close the gap on ya plugs. You may be blowing out the spark with them boost. Boostedboiz/PFI usually close them down to around .020".
Good call on the plug gap .. I had a 2.3 stroke eagle talon a few years ago with a gt35r car would run amazing until you went wot in 3rd+ then it would break up super bad almost like fuel cut , my logs were reading crazy airflow numbers , did a boost leak test , tried two different maf’s and even went to jakal speed density from dsmlink v2.5 … wasn’t til i went to do a timing belt that i pulled the brand new plugs my “friend” *said* he gapped exactly to whatever I said that I noticed he did not gap the plugs at all and my entire issue was in fact spark blow out at 30+ psi
I'm watching this video because i just bought a 4.3 ltr VTEC V6 and i intend on putting a turbo on it. I just wanna see what kinda power i can make out of it without putting a v8 in it
I've got an 09 silverado with a 4.3l in it and it's got some high mileage but it doesn't make a tick at all thinking about slapping a turbo and rebuilding the top end woth summit racing parts lol
We are almost done building my buddies racetruck at the shop. It is a 2000 model shortbed like yours. It has a 7 liter stroker motor with 250 horsepower pills in the nitrous. Turbo 400 and quick performance rear axle. Should be a sub 10 second quarter mile.
This is a dope setup 🔥🔥 I have a v6 4.3 Obs that I just purchased manual as well is there anyway you can give me the list to your setup so I can try out it for myself. Keep bringing the content 👍🏽
@@lifeonlimiter4519 I got 2 bonestock 4.3’s, one has the 5 spd just like thise one and the other a 4spd auto - they can perform well if all is good - the distributors being kind of a weak point and the injectors a pain
I love the placement of the AC compressor. If they could all be in the same location. And ring out that 3rd a bit, that's killing 4th also, check your rear end ratio, and tranny gearing.🙏🏾🤣👍🏾✌🏾🤙🏾. Bad ass ride. #Dade County
Just a thought on ur breaking up issue after long pulls .. is it possible the throttle body neither the butterfly or tps is getting stuck ? Or you could be getting a lil bit of boost creep causing “det” or even possibly ur over running the map sensor (dunno what you have in it ) what are you using to tune it ? I’m sure you’ve already done this but if not rewire the fuel pump with a relay and take ur power straight from the battery . I could guess all day without seeing a log or being there in person
how did your truck gain 1300 lbs? a quick google search has me confused. i have a spare ls engine im looking for a light weight chassis for, and your weight claims are 1300 pounds less than a awd 2003 escalade.
