Happy new year Nick. May the poker gods be in your favour. Thank you for years of knowledge for me to go through. After this vid, I intend to spend a good portion of time going through hands I’ve played and imagining what I could have done different. Thanks
Thanks Nick. Been working hard on one specific part of my game...AGGRESSION!!! Most of my study time is dedicated to trying to find all the raise, 3-bet, 4-bet and bluff situations I missed in my last tournaments. I have found that, for some reason, I am not seeing these opportunities in real time. Only after I finish and go through my hand histories do I start to see what I missed. Frustrating. But the only thing I can think of doing is to keep plugging away till something sticks in the old grey matter. Hope it happens soon. Again, thanks for the videos and I look forward to your next one.
Hey Mark, the proper use of aggression doesn't come naturally to many players - the ones that it does often become household names! For the rest of us its a learning process. I think youre doing exactly the right thing in reviewing your play and looking for spots then trying to implement them. Try this exercise - for one or two sessions play as if it wasn't you and look to be 'more aggressive than you think' is right while still making thinking decisions. Drop down in limits if you need to feel comfortable to do this. The point is to push yourself beyond what feels natural/right to you when you play so you adjust overall. Again after these 'aggro' sessions review the hands exactly as you have been and see what you find. good luck
This video talks a lot of sense. I recently got through to day 3 of a 3 day tourny, and I was not on my a game and made a huge blunder and dropped out. Punished myself hard about this! But two points you made are really useful (well they all are actually) - replay the hand in your head, in 2nd person, and also doing some study / getting your plan together before starting the game. Got to work on this and do it every time, I think this will really help. Thanks for the video!
Glad the video helped. Its definitely a 'learned skill' to think clearly when the stakes are raised - but it gets easier with these shortcuts but also the more deep runs you have - gl in the next one!
This morning I played a cash game and lost $200. Tonight I watched this video before my sedation. I walked away with $340. I think watching one of you guys video before I play might be a good idea. Thanks
Awesome! If only that happened every time this channel would crash the you tubes ;) ..... more seriously its a really good idea to get a bit of poker study or content in front of your brain right before you play. It gets you focussed and thinking about poker and your game .. like an athlete warming up. Hope it continues to go well David.
suspect you wrote this half joking but its actually a good topic! You can definitely work on raising your lowest level of play wit some good mindset management / discipline and work on your game - might do this vid in future!
