Remember buying this DVD when it came out like 15 years ago? The CRX feature was hilarious and the High Octane guys sunk all of their money into these DVD's. I don't believe they made much profit either. Considering that it was made in NZ, limited budget etc, they did great. The CRX was awesome FWIW.
You are all forgetting it has stock suspension. They stick in decent aftermarket suspension the times would be up there. Know a few things before talking crap.
If those dyno numbers were right - The CRX --SHOULD-- have been running 12's. Probably need a traction bar. Stock B16A swap runs low 14's with good hook up. Stock B18C (ITR) swap can just break into the 12's - again when you're putting the power to the ground. (Of course this is at sea level - Not at altitude)
no one ever has anything good to say lmao. theres no replacement for displacement so when your on here mad that an import beat a precious v8 domestic saying it needed a turbo.. uhh duh, and? lol No one told that man he HAD to race. so much hate.
That Falcon is Australian dude. And it's just not a fair race. Fully built internals with a turbo VS a bone stock V8. I'm not saying I agree with people who say "there's no replacement for displacement", but this is just pain unfair.
The old V8 crew, with that no replacement for displacement can stick it. Obviously there is, there is more than one way to make horsepower. it's called technology
Okay so this may be a little late and stupid but i can't find any 0-100 times for a CRX Del sol b16a2.. This crx runs 6.7 - 100. So what does a del sol run? 6.5? Why does every test say 8.2? :/
linzitazim yea I'm a little confused because a guy with a 140kw civic ek runs 13.4 on normal tires and also a mate of mine who has a S15 that has 214kw ran a 13.3 on a slipping clutch and normal tires
GTR R34 is a little over rated, when you mod them up they are fast but they are also quite heavy. I've seen a stock S15 and CRX beat a stock GTR R34 on a track, mind you the track that the CRX beat the GTR on was quite twisty with only a few straights. GTR R34 too heavy too slow
Nowadays for about 4k you can get a stock LS1 camaro and run a 13.5 ish. Throw a cam in in for another 1k and run an 11.5. For $11000 you could probably get into the 9s. All the LS1 needs is a ford rear end, slicks, fuel pump + nitrous, etc. That bottom end handles 1000hp stock. But that being said, when this video was made these things simply weren't an option. Back in the day you couldn't just buy dirt cheap ebay turbo kits or cheap 90s sports cars. This was a great build for the early 2000s. They're also not in the USA so they don't have millions of 5.7l V8s lying around for free.
