Yeah anyone that's never edited video wouldn't get it that's for sure. Learning all the quick keys helps a ton, but it's always a long process, but there's definitely ways to shoot it to make it way easier

Fords are hands down the worst gas V8 manifold. Cable company e series vans suck also. You need a straight cutting torch head

Maybe dump the waist gate in to the down pipe? Would make the down pipe a little more difficult to deal with but would save space and keep the truck on a nice daily/sleeper status.

While it does seem like a good idea on paper it would make the entire Left Bank drive the turbo because the exhaust gases aren't going to want to flow backwards out of the gate, I personally think he shouldn't have wasted his time with this design instead gone off the compressor housing like he said

Yeah seems a little clunky would have been a tougher weld but off of the crossover pipe and into the main exhaust would have been tidy

Definately. Neither of the two wastegate bosses look like theyre optimized for exhaust priority then he added an extension with a 90° bend. The best solution wouldve been to weld directly to the exhaust housing but he can get it tuned around the boost creep

It will be a miracle if you don't experience boost creep with the wastegate positioned like that, you're asking the exhaust air to turn 90 degrees to enter the pipe then another 90 in a different direction to travel down the pipe. I know you know, but to work effectively the gate must be positioned in the path of least resistance, i.e. straight from the outer side of a bend. None of the blank areas on the manifold are good examples as they all require a 90 degree turn. PS keep it looking stock from the outside, sleepers are cool!

Like you said….you know he knows. I couldn’t help but see it myself but I’m assuming that he’s tired of this build sitting with the new shop creeping up on him, and wants to at least get it running as is, with what he has. I’m sure like everything else there will be a V2, V3…etc. But I couldn’t agree more with you! But it makes for content now, plus future upgrades. Lol.

I’ve been watching Taylor’s videos since the Miata was red. That’s when I first found this page. Since then seeing the page grow and Taylor ray grow is really cool to see as a viewer. It’s real encouraging for anyone trying to get into cars. This channel is SOOOOO underrated.

I'm not trying to sound like an expert because I'm not... but might it be a good idea to recirc the wastegate and do it at an angle so you combat boostcreep by having the flow of the exhaust pull air through the wastegate?

So i don't know much about welding but I thought you need to back purge the pipe with gas to stop sugaring of the weld on the inside?

You can do yes. But it uses a lot of gas. I would back purge down from the turbo to about half way then just weld up the rest normally.

Are you going to do coil relocations for the passenger side? Looking at the location of the turbo, and the down pipe you may want to. It looks a little lose-lose since even if you move them you have to run the spark plug wires around the down pipe. Also if you haven't already order some of the blankets for the spark plug wires so that they don't become a constant issue for you. Love the content, can't wait to see how it ends up.

A single 44mm gate on a 7875 and 6.0 boost creeps pretty bad, and I had pretty well optimized wg priority. Good luck, but don’t be surprised if first outing you see 16-18psi on the smallest spring you have lol.

My daily is 03 rcsb 4.8 5spd 2wd. Stock ! Not dropped or molested. Once I have new van truck daily driver I'll be able to build my rcsb into turbo or na monster 👻. Excited about this street truck !!

Just to make a suggestion n/a the corvette put stainless one back on it. Use black one on truck and the turbo from Corvette. Use turbo from truck and use it on miata maybe or AE86 with Jimmys 20valve engine from his AE86 ??

You have all the info in the world, hell you even have Cleetus on speed dial but yet you make this crap even admitting that it still might boost creep.... Putting that wastegate there plus the 90 tube bend is the equivalent of putting a fan in a hall way and leaving your door open and hoping that you can feel a breeze. This takes the cake over the 90° rubber coupler off the turbo. Again this is what a "1000hp" hope build looks like. And before people come 💩 on me in the comments this person can literally through a needle and hit 10 people that has done a LS turbo build and find out what he is doing is trash so consider that before you correct me. Also I want to add that there's literally already a marked spot where you can literally put a wastegate, were the flow is the best and decides to put it on the other side Next to the plastic instead of running it towards the ground and out the back...

Could you not have just welded the v band to the manifold and put the waste gate directly on the manifold ? Definitely looks like you would have had more room and gave you more room for the down pipe and gave you a cleaner angle for run the dump tube... idk just me...

ICT Billet sells a sick front cover that has the 10AN built in for oil return pretty sure u can get it with a single 10An or dual for TT applications

front of the manifold is best for the wastegate. My turbo truck is done this way and I have zero boost control issues. Turbo housing is good but can have priority issues. Im local to you and have a dyno if you even need anything.

You should put your billet intake on the truck, since you wont be using it on the drift car. It would look sweet under that hood. Also you pretty much know you will have issues with boost creep. Why not just design it right the first time?

Wastegate on the housing would be my very last option, it is ugly as hell, does not look really professional and is also bad for turbo spool, as you are disturbing thw flow path of the turbo itsself... i would go with rerouting heater lines if it was my project, how much of a hastle it seems it will be worth it...

You can cut the plastic inner fender back and rivet a section of aluminum in its place. I'd try and avoid getting all the hot stuff wet when it's hot.

Does it not make sense to flip the waste gate and just dump it straight back into the Downpipe above it? Seems like that would give you the most room for your exhaust

I think you need a drill press. It really prolongs the life of drill bits because of the down pressure and chips coming off better

Try and keep the waste gate dump out of the path of the rear tire, it can burn away the prep or alter it while on the chip. Which can in turn cause a loss of traction.

taylor where your 4 inch pipe goes past the heat shield mark that spot and put the pipe in your press and oval it for clearance it will still be 4 inch but oval and you get clearance win win in my books cheers from down under
