Sorry to say my 200 hp GTI does quarter miles in 14 seconds flat. When my GTI had 382hp it did quarter mile in 11.8. also are you in America? I'm thinking of making the fastest Kia telluride with at least 2000hp and 2000 torque.
@@adamreturns1 I know mate when he said it was fully forged etc I was like that engine is bullet proof. Reading other comments and I'm not expert by any means, but I don't think it is as powerful as the owner is making out. So much money spent was hoping for so much more from the car
Your suspicions are spot on. The trap speed of 105 mph suggests around 270 bhp. If the Clio truly made 350 bhp it’s trap speed would be 113-116 mph. I did the same calculations for the 300 bhp Megane and got 105 mph… which is what it did.
@@halfwaytobedlam3234 there are a lot of variables BUT trap speed can give some indication when a lot of maffs is done Or there are online calculators for it lol I think traction is the issue here and is the biggest variable in determining HP
I think you might find his peak power is almost at red line which is something to do with map on the car and actually isn’t that useful as you run out of rpm where peak power is! would be interesting to see the dyno sheet!
Its not all about peak power figures, the power under the graph is what is important as this race shows. Well done on the win J. Lovely Clio too, I've never seen one of these with a supercharger
@@lewiscannon8213 166km/h(104mph) trap speed doesnt match 350hp in a car thats probably less than 1200kg. Its nowhere near that. With that trap speed the 100-200 on dragy is probably 14.x. Thats no more than 275hp
As soon as I heard 'Ktec' I knew the clio was in trouble. Having been in the Renaultsport community for the last 10 years I've seen many cars that have had work done there and claimed xxxbhp then taken to another dyno and produced less. Bet the clio is still a right riot to drive though which is much more important than pub figures.
Yes, I've been out of it for a few years but things don't seem to have changed much. Those 4 letters don't inspire much confidence, at least his bonnet didn't flip up.
@@Jimbos_a_Zed I mean in the sense that they're kind of forgotten about when choosing a hot hatch these days, most of the time people go down the german route and forget just how good these french cars are!
Jamie epic vid!! Personally I find these manual races so so much better than the fast Audi’s etc as because as impressive as the builds are on those cars they lack dramas and involvement it’s mash the peddle and steer straight! Cars like these you actually have to drive/change gear properly etc so much more fun to watch!! Epic vid mate
I didn't agree, sounds like a one litre with a large exhaust . Loud low power engine large pipe don't mean amazing in my opinion. It reminds me for 18 years olds first car
@@karma3092 🤣 lol yeah not my style. 280bhp Subaru is my style. Spent shed loads on it over the years but that Clio did make a good sound to my ears. Just saying
I really enjoyed this race as it looked a ton of fun. I had the close rolling race as a draw personally. Great video Jamie - love that competitive side!
🙋🏻♂️ Thanks Jon 😂 Some really close racing 🏁 you guys were having so much fun at 300bhp fwd. probably fun round the twisty bits too. Just proves you don’t have to run monster bhp to have fun in a car. 🏎️🏁
I dont understand that. RS tuning do the maps for KTEC and i would say they are accurate. I got a reading of 300bhp on my Megane 3 Trophy RS and it mapped up to 330bhp and 500nm. Lee Murrey at RS Tuning remotely does the maps for them. KTEC do nothing. He is known for good maps. Thats why i used him. Ash from versionone used him too.
You answered your own question.. ktec have always been known for having happy rollers. Paul does map them remotely but can only go off the figures the Dyno tells him.
@@gavinporter9376 I hear ya. But wouldnt the gains be the same regardless of the starting figure? My Megane shifts. I beat an RS3 17 plates other day by a car length. Not bad for a meg.
We are talking about the Clio here, the megane has a dyno print out for 300bhp, the Clio is 350bhp and a lighter car, if it was 350 it would have walked away from Jamie in his Megane, iv got a 360bhp Megane mk4 trophy and a friends 320bhp Clio pulls on me due to weight !
Great fun!! I'm not normally a fan of drag races but this was so close! Even with Jack being a big chap there's no way that Clio's running 350, a trip to a rolling road is in order. Fair play to him for playing along though - we all know it's not the winning that's important, it's the making your engine scream and the bants after 😆. As a soon to be 63yr old B road hunter it's great to see the modding scene go from strength to strength and check out what you youngsters are up to; there's hope for the world of driving yet
Nothing like Sunday mornings! Coffee, a fat bowl, and some Offcially Gassed races! I LOVE the low- mid hp cars regular guys have. The races are much more interesting
The best rolling race I've seen on here, the last race they seemed to go together and literally tied at the line! Guy in the cleo needs a little seat time at the track, drags is all about reactions and that launch!
The laughing from Jamie was killing us!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀 As the clio owner was just dying!!!... That Clio was well down on power or would have smoked him on that roll at the top clearly.... Video was epically funny, especially as the owner new and "thought" at the beginning that he should smoke the Megane easy... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙈
For everyone complaining about the clio not performing like a 350bhp car. Dont forget that the white megane had 480nm and the clio only has 340nm. Big differents!
That clio will be 350hp at redline its a centrifugal charger it will hav elike 200hp at 4k rpm and will increase lliniar to 350 at redline. The megane will have 300hp at 4k rpm and hold it to redline. That's the difference.
My man every time I'm about to scroll past, I remember every video from you and the love you have for this stuff and it makes me want to watch it. Truly enthused brotha!
Power band on a mapped meg is sick, mine mapped and it just stuck at 300hp from just under 5k to 6k rpm and change . Surprised all sorts , with it's short ratios too
I ran the same charger in an ep3 civic roughly the same weight on AD08RS with 340hp and managed sub 5s 0-60 and consistent 13.2s@110mph It's a centrifugal supercharger so you need to ring its neck to get the most out of it as it makes more boost the higher you rev it.
Although I am not a subscriber to your channel, I am a fan of the channel, but believe it or not, this is the video that I have been waiting for for a long time. Continue to succeed, champ 🏆❤️❤️
Loved this one. Manual gearboxes and lightweight cars you cannot argue are a lot of fun. Shame for the clio. Must be a reason it's not walking away. Hope he finds out why.
I think someone has some wrong Dyno numbers. That Clio should have pulled on both roll and drag with a 60bhp per tonne advantage. Nearly 100nm less torque, but still. Think Jamie's makes a little more.. any Dyno videos or graphs or was it a guesstimate? Cool race and I'd like to see more like this.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
Another entertaining OG Battle upload!!! Thank you for putting a smile on my face Jamie! That Clio sounds so sick man!! Really enjoy hearing it roar, must be such a fun daily!!!!
Something abit more realistic for most people, should be interesting 😎 ahhh man evillll video couldn't stop smiling , even the misses was given me that look , what you watching 😂😂
hey bro, recently started watching your vids, been a joy to watch, just wanted to give a suggestion to use a drone to record the finish line birds eye view, so you can se the winner of a very close race
The majority of people won't understand when it comes to renaultsport, they are drivers cars engineered for handling in mind and perfectly balanced for country road blasting. They have ZERO street cred because rather then popping and banging down dual carriage ways we'll be blasting around corners attempting to bend space and time.
