This one was requested by my friend bisquikXLT, here on YT. It's a 1978 Buick Regal Sport Coupe, powered by the turbocharged 3.8 V6. This car has just over 37,xxx miles and has been really well-preserved. This is the predecessor to the popular Grand National and GNX Buicks that would follow. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for taking a look!

I had a 1979 like that when I was 19yrs old. A tow company robbed me of my car! I miss that car.

I'm glad you did a video on this car Jeff. It was the most interesting car in the CCC tour video you did the other day. Every time I see those Buick steering wheels from the late 70's it gives me a bit of nostalgia. My dad had a 79 Lesabre he drove up until the early 90's.

Had a 305 V8 78 in 1990. Loved that car

I love this thing, it's like a time capsule it still looks exactly like it did brand new. I loved this thing as a kid, we both were born in 78.

Wow, does this bring back memories. I had a 1978 Buick Regal, not the sport coupe though I did add a rear anti-sway var and better tires.

I wish I would have seen this when they were selling it. I definitely would have bought it. I had a 79 sport coupe with a moon roof when I was in high school in the early 90’s. Same everything. It was broken into a few times. They cracked the dashboard.0, trying to steal the radio. I loved that car, but was really beat up when I bought it. Still was awesome. Wish I had it still.

not too shabby indeed! pretty rare to see turbo's on domestic cars of that era, or even imports. Good find!

+paradoxdesigns Yep, not too many turbo domestics. Took them a few more years to get things really worked out, but it's still interesting. Thanks for watching Murray.

Brought back memories. Had one of these in triple black. Black paint, black partial vinyl roof and black interior. Had Appliance 5 spoke mags with BF Goodrich Radial TA's . Not the fastest but could hang with the mustangs and camaros of the time when racing Telegraph rd in Michigan in the summers. Unfortunately someone liked it more and stole it. They found it but it was so torn up insurance totaled it. Lots of good memories before that though!

Hey JEFF, long time lol. When I was 18 years old I had a brand new Cougar XR-7 my first NEW car and the older waitress at work (70's) strolls in with this in a peach green a '79 Turbo Regal V6. I use to go outside and spend more time looking at her car more than my New Car. Same interior as that one there.

truly beautiful ride, I regret selling mine back in the day. mine was white, not the original paint I could tell because it was a crappy paint job, but the ride was mechanically sound, comfortable fast and smooth like a true buick.

I wonder if this thing had the little lights for a boost gauge. A friend of mine had a turbo 78 Le Sabre his grandpa got brand new. If I recall it had three lights on the dash to tell you if you were generating boost or not. Cool cars, but not the fastest for sure.

Yup. I owned a '78 Regal Turbo. It had the colour-changing lights. But it was a POS car and dog slow. Always breaking down.

the original grand national... I used to commute to school in one of these, the driver drove slower than my grandma so I have no idea how fast it went. always tried to get him to floor it, but he was a pussy.

The performance on these is lackluster. 165hp 265ft lbs. 0-60 in 9.2sec and quarter mile in 16.9sec. They look sharp but are in fact garbage.

it is a '78 I had one shortly after I graduated from high school as a gift. the difference between the late 70's model to the now famous 80's granny's is the front end headlights, the 79's had the single headlights as opposed to the double headlights the others had. mine was a t-top '78 which I didnt mind. and yes it was a fast fun and comfortable ride to have. I regret selling it months before the bay area floods back in the 90's.
