This past year, I flew Turkish in economy Phuket-Istanbul, Istanbul-Maldives and 2 sets of return domestic: Dalaman-Istanbul and all of them were good. Great food, efficient crew, amenity kits on the long hauls, and even hot sandwiches on the short domestic flights. Airlines like Qatar, Emirates have always made sure you know how wonderful they are, but Turkish Airlines seems to just get on with it in an almost low key way. Most people have no idea what a huge airline TK is. I really hope they keep up the good work. I think their product is good! 🙂
How can you say food at TK lounges in Istanbul is hit or miss man?! They probably have the best food an airline lounge can offer (maybe with Qatar Airways). The buffet salad itself is truly impressive.
Have been to the lounge on three occasions and have simply never been impressed with the food on offer. Compared to their competitors, the spread is mediocre at best.
TK is recently my favorite. For years was AirFrance/KLM Platinum before the C in 2020 made travel through Europe (from E. Africa to USA) practically impossible to miserable. So in early 2021 I switched to TK on my frequent flights from E.Africa to Houston. Have made 15 round trips in their business class on the route so far. Never had anything less than a top notch experience. Even flown economy from Africa to Zürich on a few flights when B class was sold out and it was also excellent. Food better than many other carriers, great IFE, and mostly friendly crew in both classes. Took them a while to get their operational act together with the Istanbul New Airport (at first, a few misconnects). TK still gets my vote.
Kardeşim. Sen türk hava yollarını kötülemeye gelmişsin buraya. Avrupanın en iyi lounge si ve business classı seçilen havayolunu resmen karalamak için video çekmişsin
I enjoyed the miles&smiles lounge at Istanbul. Plenty of wine and food, and seating... the desert &coffee room was not great, but overall the lounge was nice... TK has a very nice flight to Oslo with good food and entertainment system even in economy
I flew with Alaskan Airline from JFK to San Francisco 5 hours flight and no meal service you can purchase inside the plane and crappy burrito cold ones.
Great trip report. IMO Turkish has a great reputation, especially in economy. So, I’m guessing your poor business class experience was pretty rare. The new hub at Istanbul, however does get mixed reviews.
The new airport could have been incredible… but there were just way too many corners cut. Always reminds me of the shoddy construction (and oversized everything) at Beijing Capital Airport. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
If you hold boarding passes for both flights and your bags are checked through or you don’t have checked bags, then no. If you’re connecting to a different airline and/or your bags aren’t checked through you’ll need to contact your airline.
1:36 Bruh just wait till you see DEL(Delhi, India) there has been a notification of excess crowds in the airport and people are advised to reach at least 5-6 hrs before their takeoff time.
Loved the review and agree the standard in economy is very high and is so much better than the ME carriers who really focus on high yield pax, having said that I recently flew them BKK IST LHR in J and found them to very good overall, I agree with you about the lounge as well and find it always crowded and the focus on bread and pastries to be overwhelming and I’ve never been a fan of a buffet no matter how good it may or may not be- thanks though loved watching once again - be interested about your cruise travels too as I’m a big cruiser 😊
I’m going to start editing the cruise videos next week, but I have a feeling it’s gonna be quite the process. Just on one cruise I had 1056 video clips 🤣
I’m sure they can, but I’m not sure at what age they would consider someone an Unaccompanied Minor which would have certain restrictions. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
In August 2021 I flew Turkish Airlines Houston-Ist-Riga for $554 r/t. This included two free nights at an Istanbul hotel during the layover. How is this price possible? I bought the ticket in March 2020 during COVID and it took 17 months to be able to use the ticket.
Thank you to inform about the possibility of a visum problem when traveling on different airlines. But… There is another issue , not concerning your flight: connecting from IST to/ from SAW ( European or Asian side) . Ticket search engines often show such cheap flights. But you need a transit visum . Double ( go/return)
This comes very in handy as I'm planning to take this flight. I'm planing to make a video of my own recording the full experience both ways from Buenos Aires to Sao Paulo, then to Istanbul, and then to Rome. I hope it's as good as yours!
I'm enjoying your videos. I'm wondering, are you travelling solo? I'm thinking about doing some more travelling, but i wonder how much fun solo travelling will actually be?
For the channel yes I do travel solo 90% of the time. In general for traveling alone, I always say- if you enjoy your own personal time and are okay possibly stepping slightly outside of your comfort zone, solo traveling can be one of the most rewarding ways to travel. Do what you want, how you want, when you want. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I’m 6’ (1m82)… for short flights I’ll be happy with 31” of pitch or more… but anytime I can get a window seat that 1. Is not the first row & 2. Allows me to get out without disturbing my neighbors, I go for it for the sake of the video. Happy New Year 🎉
@The Flip Flop Traveller. Don’t see any other TK reviews when I flipped through when I tagged your name. Also all flight I see only say 4K so where am I missing the fare cost you say is in the the description?
I have three TK videos on the channel, just need to search within the channel. I’m not sure where you’re looking but each of them have the fare paid in the description. In every description it is located just above “next 5 videos”. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Turkish is the only of the three to have 3-3-3 seating in their 777s, so that’s an automatic jump to the front of the pack for me. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Wow - you've packed on nearly 2k subscribers over the past few days. I did a double-take on your visa comments. Just the other day I saw an online review from someone who had been denied a check-in for not having a visa, even though he was eligible to get a visa on arrival at the destination, like so many of us do. Turkish is one of those airlines I would consider for a one-stop long-haul - as long as baggage-handling is up to scratch and the connection time generous. Anyways, thanks for entertaining me over the past year. The stand-out features of your work remain the quality of your scripting and the breezy narration. Your frequent use of the 'community' feature on the channel is also a nice touch. Happy New Year.
When I checked in for my Gulf Air flight in Bangkok the agent asked about my visa for Turkey. I told her my continuing itinerary, told her I’d get my TK boarding pass digitally in Bahrain and proactively offered to sign a denied entry waiver and that was enough to satisfy her lol. As for the 2k subs… yeah, this is why so many content creators go negative. Drama sells. Thanks as always for your views over the year and hope you have a great New Years!
I have always been confused with all the hype around Turkish business .......Having flown with them in business a few times from Sing to Dallas (I know but , i love transiting and checking out lounges). The old business style seating from Sing to IST is stepping back into the dark ages........But i must admit i got some amazing prices towards the ending of the lock downs. Recently I have been the long hop in JAL , perfect every time. Finally , thank you for your great reports , I find them such a help in planning future trips. The one thing that i find a pain, is how when you watch on a TV you can't see the cost of the flight / hotel.....Would you consider put the cost on the boarding pass , so the TV watchers can see it ......without having to drag the laptop out .
I know of the issue with watching on TVs and wish RU-vid would invest a bit of time into making that experience better, but there are a few reasons I don't put the price IN the video- one of which because many viewers used to click off instantly upon seeing the price (I used to put it in the video itself). In the spirit of not judging a book by it's cover, I've removed it and I'm happy with the results (but still frustrated by the TV experience in general when it comes to interaction). Thanks for watching & Happy New Year 🎉
@@tfft Ahhhhhh, I totally understand , a lot of things on android TV are annoying.......It would never stop me from watching. Happy new year .........and not long to the food fest of Chinese new year, fireworks at the ready .
The call center did the right thing. They are not in a position to decide on your visa status. You don't call the airline for visa issues but you call the diplomatic mission of that country.
You misunderstood me. I was not calling to ask about any visa status. I was calling to see if they had a transfer desk available before clearing immigration. Surely, they should know the services that they do or don’t offer.
Guess the passenger’s language sounds like a fun game! I’m going to try TK for the first time in March. Your business class experience has me a little worried. I’m hoping to hit a time in their lounge that gets me some decent food. Sad to see your camera pulling away before the pizza got baked. I recently came across your videos and really enjoy them! I’ll be interested to see how your channel grows and if you will synthesize your vast travel knowledge even more, a little like how you compared business class and economy. Also, really helpful graphics. Thx!
Pide not pizza😜and buy the way TK has sandwiches AND drinks available between meals back at the galley kitchen on long haul flights. Always the best fed airline I’ve ever flown👍
Hey mate, I recently came across this channel, and I must say, you have very high quality reports. You really detail all the pros and cons and that’s what a great report needs. Anyways, other than that, I hope you have a great new year!
I have flown a few times on Turkish but on my last trip to France from Malaysia, the check-in staff fixed someone else's baggage tag on my bag. Result: it went off to another destination and has still not been found, months later. I only noticed the blunder when I couldn't collect my bag on arrival and went to report it. Aside from giving me evasive replies Turkish Airlines hasn't done anything. They have not reimbursed me for my loss either nor for the extra expenses I incurred for clothes, etc on arrival. This is definitely not a reliable airline.
I watched a lot of Turkish airlines’ business review videos, including yours, before flying one myself last month to Bogota from Bangkok and oh boy, i totally agree with you. The crews and food were hit-or-miss coz the crews from Bangkok to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Bogota were lovely and food was great but on the flights back, it felt very rushed despite we had 12 hrs on air!
Considering I often find their economy fares to be a bit pricey and their business fares to be below average- it makes me think it might actually be their strategy. Their network is so far reaching that they have a near monopoly on many of the more obscure destinations they serve, but surely those aren’t high yield business markets. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
