Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 Business Class | Hong Kong to Istanbul trip report 

My first business class flight was with Turkish Airlines. It was 12 years ago, the day before Christmas and I was tired and late at the airport . The lady at the check-in counter said: "Miss we are overbooked, would you like to upgrade to Business class?" and I said "Yes". I paid with frequent flyer miles. The service, the food , especially the wine were excellent, the seat and the blanket were cozy and I arrived at home well rested. This flight changed my world of travel. From then on I looked out for deals on business class flights and it turned out that the fees were affordable, depending on airline and date of travel. Thank you for bringing back such sweet memories.

Two times I had flight in business class with my familiy (wife and 4 years old daughter). That was best of the best of the best. Service and food was as in the best hotel and I can recomand it to anyone. As a hotel manager with 25 years of experience I know what am I talking about. All congratulations!!

Turkish Airlines is very very good. They have a brand new airport too.

Nice video, I have been lucky to fly Turkish business a few times and agree it is a very good product overall. A couple of drawbacks for me : 1. as a solo business traveler, the 2-2-2 configuration. 2. Flying from Asia via IST to Europe, you can often get a connecting flight on a single aisle plane with no ‘proper’ business hard product. I prefer the ride comfort of twin aisle airframes. So, when I am planning a trip, I always check Emirates A380 as my first option.

Yes, I have flown by Turkish airlines mostly in economy and once in comfort class ( when they had comfort class). The food was always very good! In comfort class it was similar to business. The choice of movies was equally good and we recieved an amenities kit in comfort and in the economy class as well. Even the chef made an appearance ( I think that was in the comfort class). No candle light dinner though, but I remember the minaret salt and pepper shakers in comfort class. I might use business class with Turkish airlines next time hence the interest to watch videos such as yours. Thanks for all the detailed information.

Sam, I had the opportunity to get a Business Class ticket for the price of a Premium Economy ticket due to a special. I flew from JFK to IST. One of the best parts of the flight was the ability to lie flat. I have a hard time sleeping at an incline. I was a bit disappointed that you didn't show the Business Class lounge at IST. It's top notch. I would suggest anyone fly Turkish Airlines if they get a chance.

Turkish Airlines are fantastic, as is the new airport. Possibility of taking a stopover in Istanbul another BIG bonus. I regularly fly with them.

Yes, despite the layout, Business class looks amazing; the food presentation looks like a 5☆ restaurant, the Versace amenity kit, and the duvet all scream luxury! Am I the only one who thought it was a little humorous when you zoomed in on the ball of chocolate ice cream then faded into the shot of the toilet at the start of the lavatory tour? The flameless candles were a lovely touch as well. ☆☆☆☆

Hello LTE, I believe that I read that your a Dr. If I'm wrong please correct me. I have to ask what you think about the effectiveness of wearing masks during your travels? Are they effective or is social distancing the thing that is needed? Just curious of what you think given both your expertise.

Wonderful airline and fabulous inflight service. Flew the Boeing 787 Dreamline, Business Class, from Panama City non stop to Istanbul (continuing to Tel Aviv then to Athens) and the return with a brief stop in Bogota, Colombia. Looking forward to get on board soon on the same route this time only to Athens and Istanbul. Happy traveling....

Strange how people complain about B.A. layout in Business but I prefer it to this. Their screen gives more privacy and you’re not distracted by the next person’s IFE.

Great review. Am an Elite Plus top frequent flyer with Turkish Airlines. Sadly, WiFi used to be completely free of charge (unlimited) for Business class passengers and for Elite / Elite Plus Miles&Smiles members (even when travelling in Economy) until last year. Also, the level of service you experience on all Turkish Airlines flights these days (both in Economy & Business class) is VERY different: no hot meals served, very limited alcohol served, no tea or coffee: cost-cutting at its most, using COVID-19 as an excuse. They will hopefully switch back to the old service level & standards very soon. Until then, I will avoid them completely & will keep flying Swiss, which has kept pre-Covid service levels.

I flew Turkish business class from Tokyo to Istanbul and then from Istanbul to Los Angeles a few years back and it was one of the best business class experiences I ever had. The abundant assortment of appetizers and desserts presented on a cart for selection was very memorable, as well as the "candle". The lounge in Istanbul was also phenomenal, I remember ordering a personalized Turkish "pizza", it tasted so good!

Last year, when we flew to Malta, we were supposed fly via Istanbul on Turkish which would have included a two hour city tour. It wasn't meant to be and we ended up flying Virgin Atlantic via Heathrow. Man I really wanted to visit the new Turkish lounge.

Good video. The food is nicely presented but the dinner service all looked very beige/grey. Did it taste good? Also, what do you think of fresh fruit served by airlines? It often looks good but, more times than not, it has been chilled so much that it becomes tasteless. Sorry about the negative comments. I am longing to travel again.

I see very weird a configuration 2-3-2 in Business and a 3-3-3 in economy - but as I flew only in economy, it was very nice. Turkish service and treatment is awesome, the only problems is the Business configuration...

Agreed on Istanbul being one of the greatest cities in the world.. right near the top for me. The weight of history is palpable amongst the overall stunning beauty. Flew Turkish airlines from London to Istanbul, and couldn't have been more impressed. I watch Kedi every time I get nostalgic for Istanbul. :)

Turkish Airlines does not fly to Australia. I have taken four trips in business class departing from Kuala Lumpur. The food and service was excellent and the lounge in Istanbul was the best I have ever experienced. Looking forward to the next trip, next time at the new airport and lounge.

How anyone can not like your videos is beyond me. I'm surprised to see 26 dislike votes as of 1:23pm (CDT), 19SEP20. I really don't get it because your videos are truly how a professional travel video should be done. I'm guessing that any dislikes come from people that are never satisfied with anything no matter how good it is, perhaps from other vloggers who are jealous because they their videos are truly inferior or maybe from people who have sad miserable lives and do nothing but complain. As I've said before, your videos are the standard that everyone else should be following. If there were training videos on becoming a travel vlogger, your videos would be used without a doubt. When you have something this good, I say any complaints are mostly invalid and worth ignoring because there really is nothing to complain about. Don't mess with perfection. Maybe some might think your videos are impersonal, and I say that I'm very happy that you're not narcissistic ego-maniac like so many others. (Cough, cough...Josh Cahill, Sam Chui, NonstopDan and others).

Perhaps it is not as relevant considering they were a few years ago, but on my 4 flights so far with Turkish airlines the food was always on point, everything else was very hit or miss.

United is a part of this company? Why doesn't it give offer service like this? This is the new definition of flying first class.

I’m flying their A330 and 777 tomorrow on the business class from Manchester to Singapore, looks like I would have to prepare a empty bottle to pee into, 2-3-2 for overnight business class is a joke.

2-3-2 Seating in business class on a 4 year old aircraft is not good by any means. They could gotten away with this on a 10 year old aircraft, not a 4 year old. Today’s standard on premium airlines in business class are 1-2-1 seating with direct aisle access for everyone. Good food and service can never overshadow a pore seating arrangement.

I traveled on the 🇹🇷 airline from jfk to tlv it was great however because I am American and Israeli citizen i was uncertain and nervous about what can happen in the connection between the flight considering the relationship between the three countries.

I have flown with Turkish many years ago, but I still remember that it was a very good flight (very kind staff, quality food..ecc). Did you arrived on the new Istanbul Airport? Was it nice?

Why on Earth would any airline think it's acceptable to have a 2-3-2 configuration in a long haul business cabin!? That's appalling. If I'm flying anywhere at or beyond the 10 hour mark, I had better be able to climb in and out of my seat at will!

Hello, a friend calling from Houston Texas, USA the land of COVID-19. I have commented many times on your travels by air and land. You know what I mean, lol. I must say to me that Madagascar Time + Tide Miavana is my favorite video. I believe in our last exchange I commented on the food. The food out of all your videos Time +Tide Madagascar has been the most beautiful. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, everything is above and beyond. I have youtube on my TV and some time back because of the COVID-19 lockdown here in Texas, for Sunday entertainment family lunch among my family, we watched your video. Lol, I told my sister I could see her sitting on the beach reading a book, she's a reader. Anyway, be safe wear a mask. I won't fly Turkish airline B 777 ... 2 3 2 seat layout on business class seems a scam to my opinion . Before i book a long haul flight i always check the seat configuration on business class cabin , i prefer 1 2 1 layout .

This video is not helpful, as it does not reflect the currenty reality of flying in Turkish Airlines premium cabin. From what I have read, the airline has drastically reduced service; instead of continuing what once was one of the best in-flight catering, Turkish Airlines now hands premium-class passengers cold meals in boxes, offering zero hot meal options. Given the outdated hard product on the Boeing 777, I would stay away from this airline unless and until they revert to a higher standard of cabin service, especially in business class.

shame you didn't include the trip to the airport or the lounge -- i love the lounge visit part of these videos. i was supposed to have a few hours stop-over at HK in between Brisbane & Cebu City (Philippines) in May when -- well, we all know what happened...i like HK Airport, & i've never tried a lounge visit there prior to my messing around with points...
