This is the video of the project on renovation of the canteen of secondary school No 10 in Ghazantarak village of Tajikistan financed and implemented by the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination in Dushanbe (TIKA Dushanbe).
The school canteen was in a dire situation with no major renovation since it was constructed in early 2000s. The project refurbished the canteen's interior and exterior, replaced its doors, provided new set of quality furniture, installed water tap inside and cooking oven inside the canteen. These activities improved both hygiene and sanitation, and eased the work of cooks, who used to cook outside in an open traditional clay-made oven both during hot weather in spring and cold weather in winter. The project amounted to USD 53000 in total with USD 28000 spent for renovation activities and USD 28000 for visit of the Turkish students to Tajikistan and other administrative activities.
The project was implemented within the Turkish Government's Exchange Program, which enabled 12 students from Turkey to visit Tajikistan, to contribute to the renovation activities, and participate in cultural exchange programs. The handover ceremony was followed by the Tajik-Turkish Food Festival, where the two parties presented their national cuisine and hosted each other. The youth from Turkey and Tajikistan also participated in the Evening of Friendship, where they enjoyed dancing, and getting information about each other's countries.
