I’d love a Mukbang or we can hear more about the cafe. How is that going? What rolls are you filing there? What’s it like owning a cafe? We don’t hear much about it.
Hey Rose, It's Carly - remember we shared a room together for RU-vid Next Up? You gave me a tour around London because I'd never been (even though I'm British and you're Canadian ha!). I've rediscovered your channel since I recently became vegan after learning the horrors of the m&d industry. It's going great, been 6 months already! Anyways lovely to see you're doing great still. Much love from the UK! ❤
This is my favorite RU-vid channel. I have been a lifelong vegetarian and learn a lot here. Hopefully you don't quit. But it should be something you enjoy. It's your life. Do what you love.
Even though I've been following you for a long time and would miss you if you ever stopped RU-vid, I would totally understand. RU-vid (/social meadia) is truly a job that encompasses everything: relaxation, high demands, stress but also laid-back, all at the same time. It must be a rollercoaster that eventually becomes just boring. Just as you mentioned in the video, there’s no progression, no way to climb higher or transition into a managerial role. This is just the way it is. I hope you don’t quit RU-vid though, haha. You’re my favorite vegan! :) I would have loved to meet you back in the day at a doner shop after a night out with friends, eating falafel! Ps. I LOVE the fox in the background
Thank you for making such amazing vegan videos. Your videos give me a mental break from the atrocities happening all over the world. Your videos have such a great impact on us other vegans.
I appreciate this honest talk. The truth is that, you can't really do everything all at once. My advice is do what you want to do instead of focusing on what you think the viewers expect to see. You mentioned you've been enjoying your trips and it showed; your face lit up when you started talking about it and I could hear the excitement in your voice. You don't need to keep up with all of this platforms. Make the type of content you would enjoy making. Imagine your perfect day or perfect week. What do you see yourself doing? That's the type of content you need to focus on. If it's long term, then focus on that and only make shorts if you feel especially inspired to. If it's short form you enjoy, go for it and only commit to as many long videos as you can realistically make without stretching yourself too thin.
Great advice. So many RU-vidrs get distracted, burned out because they feel compelled to keep up with the latest trends and forget what they used to enjoy. Rose, you're fab at doing what you do. Do what you enjoy. Share what you want to share and take time out when you want to. When creation becomes a job with money as the driver, instead of a passion, the quality suffers.
I didn’t expect to see Turkish food mukbang from you! Afiyet olsun! PS: Falafel and hummus are not Turkish foods. But in some cities there are Arabs who living in Türkiye for centuries so they exist in Turkish cuisine but they’re not Turkish origin foods. They are quite popular street foods in TR.
I still look for your mukbangs every Monday! I love all of your content on all platforms and would hate to see you leave any of them...maybe you can rebrand/reframe in a way that you would find this journey fulfilling again. Best of luck and hope to keep seeing you!!
I'm a burnout expert. I realize I'm burnt out when things annoy me when they shouldn't. I don't like things i normally like, like music. When I don't have things to do, I want to do nothing. When I'm not burnt out, I do so much and I can get so much work done. I have a full time job, a second job, help my friends and family, help random people look for jobs. The only cure is a break or slowing down. I give myself two weeks of working hard and a week where I don't do much after work. That usually cures me and I'm happy again
I am a follower from Turkey for years. I really admire you for trying not to offend anyone about details which only our people know ❤ The thing is you don't look happy even if you laugh and try to look happy. Everything has an end and you don't always have to do it. I am very happy to know you and be friends even if you don't know it. You are the first vegan friend of mine and you gave me courage. Now i'm not vegan like for 2 years anymore but i still follow you cuz i love you as a person. And it doesn't matter if you only eat and don't talk sometimes you know, don't stress about anything which don't deserve to be stressed. I wanted to join your trip but i study medicine in İstanbul so i wish you all love and luck here. And i reccomend the place Cappadocia and the city Mardin as well. Also Antalya and Muğla would be satisfying but most likely on summer. Selçuk/Efes was the best choice btw!! Hope you enjoy it. When it comes to the food, i would reccomend çiğköfte (without meat, it's like everywhere), dolma (stuffed pepper with rice), sarma (actually you called wine leaf but we say sarma), mercimek çorbası (lentil soup) and any veggie meals like kuru fasulye pilav. I reccomend the place "Şişko Selçuk" also, they are sooo delicious. So much love from maybe the only follower of yours from Turkey 😊
It sounds like you have burnout. It is ok to take a step back. Mental health is important. You really light up when you talk about travelling. The vegan travelling would be brilliant. I am blessed to live in England as there is so much here vegan wise. Maybe some day I can afford to travel.
PS things to try if you are more interested in transitioning to travel videos is to do collabs with other vegan and/or travel vloggers...or do mukbangs in group form? You and Daniel or other ppl doing the same thing but filmed like we (the viewers) are the quiet fourth person at the table...just some random ideas
Two of my favorite cuisines! I live in the Middle Eastern food capital of America. There's so much that's vegan because a lot of meals might feature a meat main dish, but then many veggie sides. The garlic sauce is called "toom" or "toum" and is sometimes made with egg whites, but that way is nowhere near as good, so legit cooks make it all vegan. There's a very famous Turkish RU-vidr named Refika who does prepare some vegan food, or discuss vegan/veg options. However, my ❤ food will ALWAYS be Korean.
Been watching you for a few years now and your videos never fail! Love that you keep it real! Watching while eating watermelon ha! You’ll find a new workflow that’ll work for you! I know it!
I'm completely with you Rose! I think it's just that we've accomplished a lot of what we wanted to achieve, and now maybe we need a new vision for ourselves. So we would be doing these tasks to reach that goal instead of just doing them to get them done.
I think what you feel is a type of burnout. I have it as well. I have been married 53..almost 54 years and I just don't want to cook or clean and all the stuff in a home anymore. I still do it of course, cause I don't want a dirty house and we have to eat, but I don't cook complicated things much anymore ...all simple and fast, and I don't clean as often as I used to. Hopefully I will get it all back soon, but day after day, year after year gets old for anyone. Maybe you could just pick one or two platforms and post less often for a while anyway. I like the youtube platform...that is the only place I watch videos, but you need to do what works for you.
Love your channel Rose. I think your lack of motivation is a sign of your growing affluence. This is NOT to be disrespectful at all, just my 2 cents. When we are financially not in a good place our drive is higher than when we are in a place of contentment or greater. Think of it this way if you hit the lottery big tomorrow would you still work? The answer is probably no or a lot less. It’s totally normal. Your head is above water so you don’t have to kick your feet as hard to stay afloat.
👋🏽Hey Rose, I completely understand what you’re referring to. Sorry to say but I blame the feeling that you’re feeling on the unlimited amount of these social media platforms in what you juggle daily is a lot. It’s so frustrating to try to even keep up with all of them. That’s why it’s so important to do a social media cleanse because believe it or not but it all messes with your mental health as well. The world we live in now is already enough to try and balance mentally, physically and emotionally and you need to focus on just yourself.
I have three theories about why you may feel “burnt out” about your RU-vid job. 1. To simply put it, it does sound like a burnout 2. It sounds like a mild version of depression, but I could be wrong about that. I just wanted to throw that out in case! I’m not necessarily saying you’re depressed, just that you may be going through a mild depressive episode. 3. This guess is one I believe to be the most true, and it ties into it all. It’s also looking at this situation through a spiritual lens (which I do all the time). Your spirit guides may be telling you to try something new. Our spirit guides try to persuade us from time to time. Ask yourself these vital questions. Are you doing what you want to do? Are you being your authentic self? And is there something else you’d rather be doing, even if it’s just by a little bit more? Love you, Rose! I hope this helps!
I feel you.. being overwhelmed and burned out even thou ready to crush it. My sis said but thats not my solution lol. I think travel is good! I am working to be a trova trip operator.
YESSSSSS to the Canadian Rockies! Bring Daniel pls! Let’s do it for next summer! Please!! lol. Would love to hang out with the 2 of you together. Maybe you could rent out a group camp site and a couple sites next to it? Or of course to make it easier on you, just get a guide :) Would love to go camping, hiking and swimming with you guys, that would be great! It would be so nice to have a fully vegan camping trip omg! Yessss pls :D
That looks amazing! I am so jealous! There was a pita house that I use to get something called the Tour of Lebanon. I love Tabbouleh. They would have pita, hummus, tabbouleh, stuffed vine leaves, and other things. Some of it wasn't vegan, but that was 20 years ago. I wish I could try this. I'll just pretend. 😂
At least people watch you!😁 vegan vlogger here! I’ve been at this for a while and it’s so hard to even get views or subscribers on RU-vid!! I get burnt out because I can’t get anyone to watch my channel! 😂 I still do it though because I love it, and I love having the memories & meeting people who I probably would never meet if I didn’t have a RU-vid channel! That makes me happy😁 I love your channel! I learned some cooking techniques from you!! Thank you!!
Yes! Take a break Rose!!! lol I’ve always thought you worked a bit too much and felt a bit worried for you. (But you present as if you’re fine so I was like maybe she is just wired differently than me???!) Since you put content out on so many platforms, plus have your podcast, plus have your cafe, plus when you’re on ‘holidays’ you are still making content!!! Holy you never have time for JUST yourself and I think you really need to draw up those boundaries for yourself so you can recharge!!
That spread looks amazing! I love the stuffed leaves. So delicious! I would totally miss you if you were to leave RU-vid (you're my favorite vegan influencer ever!), but it's completely understandable to want a change or go in a different direction after doing something for so long. (Don't abandon the SaVeg Podcast, though! I love that, too, lol!).
Wow the trips to Greece and turkey look gorgeous. #cheaplazyvegantravelgoals ❤ Everything looks delicious. 3:19 that white sauce is called toum, it is made with garlic, olive oil and vinegar. It's vegan ❤
The proper rice stuffed grape leaves / dolma dish is Assyrian in Origin , so as a traveler you will eat the best Dolma in Iraq for sure ( but you have to make sure to ask ones stuffed without animal meats !!! ) , there are thousands of Iraqi families living in Canada ( where you live ) that will shock you as how much tastier they do it than the bland tasting sample variety ones sold in falafel & gyros specialized restaurants ( but you just have to convince them in advance to make it without meat for you when you manage to get an Iraqi family dinner invitation from them !!! ) .
Maybe for some of your content you can take a 2 week or a month hiatus so you don’t have to worry about even posting pre recorded content while on holidays. So maybe in Sept when you go on your work trip with your subscribers you just let ppl know hey guys I’m taking a little break from posting, see you again on this date. And then you can feel a bit more rejuvenated when you come back? I feel like you’ve built up enough of an audience that ppl would be understanding that you need a little break fr time to time and excited for you to take time for your mental health and excited for your content when it comes back out. Or even just lessen the load and do a bit less posts on certain months, say the summer, so you can enjoy life and ppl can just tune into updates on your stories to see what you are up to :) Hope you find the life balance again that you need! We will be ok if you need to take little pauses sometimes!!
Well remember, Idk how much of your viewer base is from the US, but you mentioned several times here of trying to keep up with Tik Tok and posting on there but in the US, its going to be banned in less than a year (if its not sold) so I wouldn't put all your chickens in that basket if a large portion of your viewer base is from US.
Love your channel. But I know about creative burnout. Writers like me call it writer's block. Maybe take some time for yourself and step back for a few weeks.
My suggestion, take a mini hiatus. Don’t record your life for a short time. Work on what you already have, and send it out in a smaller routine. I’d get a bit away from social media. Keep two platforms and pause the rest. It’s okay to slow down! Your body/mind is telling you to!! It’s okay to slow down!!!!!!! Repeat!
When our passion for something dwindles and we lose motivation, it’s because there is something else to replace that. Sounds like your travels might be the next focus? We can’t force passion, it’s either there or it isn’t. Why not pay people to edit your videos and move on to your next love? When we love doing something we don’t need to make ourselves do it, we just want to. BTW, I’ve been watching your videos since your first ones in London.
The Tik Tok in China is different than the one in the West...it is much more educational and not just dances/silly trends. I can see why people are trying to get it banned.
This all looks soooo amazing but I can’t nothing eat i need all in gluten-free sugerfree i mean with sugerfree I can eat datesuger and not too much protein but thx for your video i doing all Rezept in my version switch and I love it but I’m vegan and sooo happy thx
Maybe you have bore-out. And definitely suffer from procrastination. Mel Robbins has a great video about it. Very famous is Turkish lentils soup. They eat a lot of lentils not so much chickpeas. Please continue RU-vid, I like your style. The other ones are all doing the same. 😊
I'm no expert but you are so intelligent and a self-motivated person. I think you have done all you can w ith your channel and you need a new challenge. You are much more than vegan. Perhaps lean into travel? Teach us how to plan trips, where to go or even just about other cultures and traditional(vegan) foods and music etc. Or share your music with us?
Türkiye must be such a beautiful place, food, culture, landscapes, ocean and everything... but to be honest, their human rights situation is a little bit scary to me, I don't know😅
Love you Rose but you are out of touch. Working 60-70 hours to be sure you can pay the mortgage and all bills. During covid, worked 80-90+ hours but OT is not mandatory but if you don't work. You don't keep up, and if you don't keep up, there is a threat to you job. If you take a vacation day or week, your work sits their and if you don't handle "timely" upon return, you are questioned as to why you are behind. Always a threat, no time to do yard work or house work. I am not a crier and never cried because of my employment but this job has caused me major health concerns, crying after my shift and down right unable to process emotions, or deal with health concerns. I 100% will trade with you.
Recently in Istanbul, please be careful. So many scams. Taxi driver demanded cash even though credit card logo on cab, and another ride he charged me more than what meter stated. Hold your phone tight or put in backpage/purse...my iPhone was stolen during tram ride from my side pocket! It was hell being without a phone! Otherwise, it was a good trip. Take the ferry, it under a $1 with great views. The promenade was fun...next to water and fun to walk around shop/restaurants. There is plenty of street vendors selling corn for 40-50 turkish dollars. Favorite vegan restaurant: Vegan Istanbul 2nd favorite: Asian Vegan Kitchen (get the glassnoodle pad thai)
Maybe don't call Turkish people middle eastern Turkey is a country in central Asia with only 3% of it being in Europe it's not considered Middle Eastern nor European its considered Asia. Don't insult my country like that... please educate yourselves (no hate)
Thanks for your input on a vegan channel. There are vegan restaurants in Turkey as there are plenty of Turks who don't like to eat the results of animal abuse either.
Loss of motivation/interest in things you actually do want to do can be a sign of depression. There doesn't even need to be a feeling of sadness. You just feel overwhelmed. tired.unmotivated in general. You could be low in something or maybe you need a break or need to deal with an issue that's bothered you. But scrolling on your phone exacerbates the problem as it increases depression risk and reduces productivity.. There's a reason the big tech leaders don't let their kids have phones,or really limit time on them, they know how harmful they can be. Steve Jobs never let his kids use an iPad, BIll Gates wouldn't let his kids use cell phones till age 14 and then capped time on them. All I'm saying is scrolling on your phone can make your situation worse. (Ive been dealing with it myself. ) But you could have your blood checked, you never know, something might be a little off. Couldn't hurt. Or one other possibility- have you started any new medications in the last while? Anyway, I hope you figure it out . I've watched your channel since the beginning and enjoy it and would miss it but would understand if you moved on to something else.
What you are describing, Rose, is not so much burnout, I think it is executive dysfunction. Look it up, it's very interesting, I have it too! It stems from the perception of unlimited choices, you end up sort of paralyzed and unmotivated. Incidentally, here's the Wikipedia article about Turkish cuisine! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_cuisine
