A few common tips - try to use a professional photo and and not from a cellphone, with as neutral background as possible. Also, check out my Midjourney v5 video, and try to play with the image weight - the higher it is, the closer it will look to you.

What difference does “8k” even make?

It gives images marked as "8K" in the training data a priority, so they are usually sharper and more detailed. Similar to using "Sony a7" or "shot on Arri" in the prompt.

Hi! Thank you this was very helpful :) I have a couple of questions tho. When u Click on the emoji button to send yourself a message with the seed of the picture, did you have to set up anything to be able to do that? because I don't have that envelope button when I open my menu there. The second question is, when you upload your picture and then want to copy the link, did you do anything for the last three options to show up? because on my page the last option that shows is to delete the picture (in red), so basically I don't have the save or copy link options. Please help

HI! Sure, you're very much welcome! About the envelope - no, you just hover your mouse over the Midjourney response, and click the "ADd reaction" button, and you can type in "envelope" in the search the first time you open it if you don't see it in the popup that appears. About copying the URL - if you're in your browser, you can click on the image, it will open up in a popup, then right click the image and choose "Copy image address". That should work. But overall, it's easier to do in the Discord app.

Excellent video. Thank you. One question, I upload an image of my face and prompt MidJourney to use the image of my face and put it on a superhero for example. I can not get it to work. It always renders the image as just my face size still without ever showing the entire superhero body with my face on it. I have tried all the suggestions of show full body, full body perspective, wide perspective as well as specifying what the shoes and hands look like, but I always only get a face shot at best. Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks!

Make sure you right click on the image itself. If you're opening Discord in the browser, click the image, right click on the enlarged image that opens, and choose "Copy Image Address". If on mobile, click on the image, open the menu, "open in browser", and copy the URL from there. If it's still not clear, in the Hacking Modern Life discord, I pinned 2 messages that show video of how to do it. And if it's still not clear, feel free to ask me on the HML discord.

Hi, it's less about the prompt, and more about the image - Midjourney doesn't copy the image, but rather "gets inspired" by it. So you need to give it the proper inspiration - preferably an image with as little background as possible, where you look straight into the camera work best. But definitely try different images, and see what works best.

I'm really interested how your custom generated images with your picture as a template turned out that good and realistic. When I try to use some photo as the template (and I used them a lot) generated picture doesn't even resemble the face on the original image - completely different persons and faces. Any ideas?

MJ doesn't modify any faces, as you can see it's easy to generate images of the pope or Donald Trump - if anything, they would block those first. Image Weight isn't supported in Midjourney v4, but it is supported in v5, and I found v5 is better at image 2 image than v4.

The paid version isn't better than the free one in any way, just that it can generate more images... However, MJ did discontinue the free version, unfortunately, so as far as free image generators go - the best options now are Blue Willow and Stable Diffusion.

I'm a PhD student from chemistry. In addition to doing experiment, we also need to publish academic papers which contain graphical abstract n other illustrations. Sometimes, if editors are interested with our work, they will also invite us to design journal covers. However, many researchers are not good at using software for graphical design, n we will subcontract the job to third-part companies whose offering prices r really high n will take 1-2 weeks . So i think the AI can be used in scientific drawing on different types of pics, such as graphical abstract, cover design, illustrations (like hieratical pie charts in review papers). I hope u can make a vids on scientific drawing for us if possible, thank u!

Midjourney doesn't actually have any memory. Neither does GPT... The only "memory" would be the generated images in the Discord, or if you use a similar prompt with the same seed. The same prompt with a different seed (and MJ by default will generate a new seed every time), will generate a completely different image.

Unfortunately, no. Midjourney wouldn't be able to do this - in fact, the only genAI that can do this, is Stable Diffusion, and that's only after you train it on your own jewellery. It's not a super complicated process, but not very straightforward either. I will make a tutorial on this in the future.

Well, you can get quite a bit out of Midjourney, including fantasty, flat, stickers, UI design and so on... definitely check out my new Midjourney tips video for more of that. However, I like to compare Midjourney to an iPhone - it's really good at what it does, but it's very limited. The moment you want something outside of it's "style", it becomes very hard. Stable Diffusion is more like an Android - a lot more flexibility, can do basically anything you want, but requires a lot more tinkering to get there.

Yeah, Midjourney is not a good tool for this, since it doesn't change your image, but rather creates a new one, "inspired" by your image. Try using www.remove.bg/ to remove the background, and use any image editing software (like www.photopea.com/) to change the background.

Yeah, I checked, my photos aren't part of the training material, so it doesn't take my information from the internet. Midjourney v5 (only paid) is much better at image prompts, so that's another option. And today there's a bunch of other techniques to do this, which I will cover on this channel as well.

I strongly believe that if you're making money with a tool (be it Photoshop or Midjourney), pay for the tool as well. At the end of the day, if Midjourney saves you 2-3 hours a month, the subscription cost would be just $3/hour. It costs a lot to run an infrastructure like Midjourney, so I don't even believe they have too much profit at this price. With that said - you can always use Stable Diffusion as an alternative, though navigating it's legal maze might be even more complicated.

The art that is generated is the result of a mathematical function, so if you use the same prompt with the same seed, with the same version of the engine, you'll get exactly the same image. A few tips are to use a photo that is sharp, preferably taken by a camera and not a cellphone, and without too much noise in the background, but not a solid color either. So in the thumbnail for example, it's a photo taken with a Canon camera, with just the background of the city, and that works really well.

What I say there is that you can basically feed the result of a previous generation as a second image prompt, and sometimes that helps the image to be closer to the original image. However, since making this video, I have made another video showing new features in Midjourney v5 (image prompt weights) that help you get even closer to the original image, and I'm about to release another video that will make this process even easier, so stay tuned!

No, @ShabbirAliKanchwala, it depends on how you use Discord - in the video I use Discord App for the desktop. If you run it in the browser, you need to click on the image, and copy the URL from there. If you're on mobile that's a bit more complicated. If you joined the Hacking Modern Life Discord, on the #midjourney channel there are 2 short videos that show how to do it on desktop in the browser, and on mobile. Try to watch this, or ask me in the #midjourney-questions channel, and I'll help you.

Thank you! Finally, I found a video that answers my question! So you said Midjourny is unable to take part in the image. So what's the best way to let a bird from pic 1 (a bird without clothes) wear a particular accessory from pic 2 (a human wearing a head accessory) -- other than using weight?.

Weight wouldn't help you with that. It would be very hard to do that with Midjourney, but the thing I would try - is to cut out the bird in a separate image, then the accessory in another image, adding some blurred background to each of them, and then feeding them as 2 image prompts to MJ. That might work. I'd say that using something like Photoshop would be easier to do that... And maybe then using Stable Diffusion to smooth the final image.

It's not after the first day, it's after 0.4 hr of computing, which is roughly 25 images at the default settings. If you lower the quality it can be more, or less if you increase it, but it's enough for the examples I show in the tutorial. Alternatively, in our Discord we also have Blue Willow which is unlimited, InstructPix2Pix video coming soon, and a detailed Stable Diffusion video coming soon as well - all of them are free.

Glad you liked the video! If you'll use Midjourney on our discord, I'll try to see what you're doing with the prompt, and will give you some tips. But as a pointer - the cleaner the original image, the closer the result it is to it, so always keep that in mind. Also, sometimes it helps to overlay the image over the result again.

I noticed when i copy the photo link on my mac it is different from yours. When i click on the link copied i cannot see my photo and therefore only get a random image with someone elses face. Yeah, I recorded the video with the app, and I kind of forgot that some people don't have the Discord app installed. You can either do it in the app, or in the browser, click on the image, right click the image in the popup that opens and click "Copy image address", that also works.
