I opened up Hardware Manager to see if it wasn't already a thing, and I don't really understand why Windows thinks I have 12 keyboards plugged in at once. As the years go by, I understand why people switch to Linux because if there's a feature you want then there's a chance someone else has crafted a module already, or you could built it yourself, but I'm not ready to commit to that kind of brain leap yet.

In case anyone gets stuck after the .vbs script isn't working. This is what I did to solve it. In streamer bot, go to Servers/Clients > Then go to HTTP Server > Click Start Server (Make sure Port is 7474). The reason this happens is because the action created with the bat file is trying to connect to streamer bot using HTTP but the server isn't open... so what happens is nothing. Hope that fixed it!

Thank you so much. It took a lot of time to setup each key but it's really useful. Even for basic hotkeys like hiding and showing something in OBS, you could use hotkeys inside OBS but with SteamerBot I can add more functionality. Like playing a sound when i mute my microphone and stuff.

I feel like a much simpler solution is to use Windows' hidden function keys F13-F24... you'd need autohotkey to map them but could uninstall after that. But I'm not sure if streamerbot supports f13-24 though

I know this video is pretty old now, but I found something a little weird with version 2.3 of HIDMacros, granted, my use case is a bit unusual. I use a MIDI controller to control my volume levels in VoiceMeeter, and in this specific use case, using a MIDI controller on top of a keypad, trying to run MIDI software on top of HIDMacros will cause it to error out and hang. This is because HIDMacros asks for exclusive access to the MIDI port. The easiest way to solve this (if anyone else is having this problem) is to use version 2.2 since this version does not connect MIDI controllers.

For Spanish keyboard users, HID Macros is unusable since it turns accents into double accents (for example when you wanna write "á", HID Macros comes into play making you type "´´a"). In case you're having this issue, my recommendation is this: get a Corsair keyboard that's compatible with iCue. With iCue you can launch programs by pressing keys on the Corsair keyboard and it won't be picked up by the pc as the main keyboard, but as a 2nd one. Main keyboard funtions won't be triggered. The cheapest Corsair keyboard I could find that's compatible with iCue is the K55. It's a membrane keyboard so customization is not possible but it still works :D

I followed everything to a tea and the node is not working, for some reason the vbs files do not function. I can use streamerbot to change scenes and any other action I make, its when I run the build that it stops working on macros. Im not sure whats going on or how to fix it so if anyone does know please fill me in about it because it was working just fine until node updated.

if you want icons on your keys you can just get "relegendable" keycaps which are just 2 parts caps with a base and a cover and you can put a printed piece of paper under the cap for like $5 for 10 caps.

well I am into the freedom to make the macropad do anything not just a streaming deck. so I wonder if I can reprogram the keys in the keyboard to have different set buttons such as pressing on F is not really an F without having a software running in the background? then use Autohotkey to make the button do anything and make it do specific task such as open RU-vid or play a music, or open a specific folder or it only affect specific window in such a way that the button would work only if photoshop is running.

I think this is better for those who hates soldering. I was planning to build one using Arduino Pro Micro that does the same thing. Although the difference is, I don't have to setup my build up every time I change PC. The good thing about that one you did is that You can just use any keyboard available. Or even the numpad you have in your existing keyboard.. But still I prefer to build on eusing arduino just because it is more fun that way. At least for me.

Thank you! I set up everything but with streamlabs instead. Ive encountered 1 issue. When I start to record in streamlabs, the Macros seem to stop working and the Ghetto streamdeck stops working. Then i have to end the recording, close HID Macros and Streamlabs and reopen them both to get the macros working at all. But recording makes it stop working everytime. Has anyone experienced this or have any solutions to keep the macros working while recording?

im still having problems with the keys. one time it works but the next it doesnt. it still has problems with registering "same macros" eventhough im pretty sure i didnt use the same key. even if im done with it, the moment i close hid macros, they lose all the functionality

Streamer.bot does not know the difference between a "1" on your main keyboard and a "1" on your numpad. This could interfere with your games that might be using that key. For that reason, you need HID Macros.

Troubleshoot I found after fiddling around for 5 minutes: when you restart the HID Macros program after closing it, the program goes back to filtering for Applications, instead of all files. To fix this, just go back into one of your key binds and readjust the "run application" command to filter for all files

its an awesome idea but my only question is would this work on something like the Megalodon 3 knob macro pad? reason being is that it has built-in 4 different profiles and the macro pad is kinda a pain to set up, also the fact that some of the function like opening programs is clunky.

Жалко он считывает идентификатор не самой клавиатуры, а из операционной системы. Бывает, при переподключении в другой порт меняется системный идентификатор. Пробовал блютуз нампад - время от времени слетал идентификатор и клавиатура начинала печатать :( надо попробовать ещё раз настроить, может что-то дополнительно удастся предусмотреть

Maybe. There is a MIDI subgroup under the Core group within Sub-Actions. You're limited to Control Change, Generic Event, and Note On, so it's gonna depend on what your needs are. I've never messed with MIDI, but it's there.

I'm having a couple of issues with this. One is that every time I open HID Macros I have to reconnect one of the macros to the associated script (any one, it doesn't really matter which) before any of the macros work. The second issue is that it only works if HID Macros is on top. If I click over to another program the macros don't work.

Here is the quick fix: Put all your .vbs .bat files into HID macros directory and don't forget about _action.cjs ! After experimenting with this problem - I found that it has access problem to the file system after reopen, so here is the fix.

About second problem I'm not sure but you can try to open HID macros icon property, find "Security" line and click on the "Unblock" button. It helps me to avoid dialog window every time when I open it.

Okay so i have done the process to try and make my second keyboard into a soundboard, the process works and the second keyboard isn't registered as the main keyboard and works as it's own keyboard, problem is that when i use voicemod and place a button as a command to play a sound on my second keyboard it still registers and plays on the same button on my main keyboard. I though i did something wrong at first but they aren't connected to each other in any other way, nor in typing or key testing to check if they are connected somehow? Has anyone fixed this problem and if not does anyone have any suggestions?

Q: I can successfully get everything to run well until I close the HID macros. Then the next time I open HID macros it won't trigger unless I re-find the .vbs file with 'run application' , then it works fine. Is it not saving? am I missing something obvious? Nothing seems to change if I run as administrator, neither does changing the commands at every step to one word phrases.

i have tried this and when i use the num pad on my main keyboard it works no issues, however, when i run the usb num pad it doesnt work and only acts as a num pad. Any thoughts on what im doing wrong or what step i missed.

The only fault I see to this is that you can only add as many commands as you have keys available, which if you're using an entire keyboard might be more than enough tbh but if you only have the num pad, it seems pretty limited. But other than that, I think this is a very cool replacement for stream deck! Thanks for making this video :D

You shouldn't need to be setting hotkeys in Streamerbot. You just use that to set up Actions and Sub-Actions, then convert those into the files using the batch script. HID Macros is where you set up your hotkeys and put the file in. Once you have your file, inside HID Macros you want to go to the Macros tab, and look in the Edit Macro section, then the Action section. In there are two tabs, predefined and scripted. You want to be on Predefined, and place your vbf script in the Run Application field (and make sure it is checked).

So I set this up and it works as intended outside of games! But, when I'm actually *in* a game, my macro no longer works. Tabbing out gets them working again, but if I'm focused on the game then it doesn't. Anyone know a workaround for this?

So after completeing all this the keybinds only work when HID Macros window is active. once I click out of it the function no longer works. Is there something I can do to work around this. Ive been trying for the longest to get this macropad up and running the way i want it. ive run it in administrative mode and still no go. any help on this?

Loved the tutorial, but I am having a problem, I did everything right and it works, but if I close HID macros and open again, the buttons stop working. I tested the .vbs files and they are fine. In HID, the keyboard still the same, and the keys too. The only way I can make work again is to re-register the keys again (even being the same) or sometimes is reconfigure the patchway in "run application". I already installed again HID.

Yep, I'm having the same issue and have to reconnect the script. It also won't work unless I'm on HID Macros. If I click on another window the macros don't work.

For example if I press F1 it should hold down CTRL while pressing W,S,D,W and possibly do it not too fast. I'm not a streamer. I just want to use it ingame for Helldivers 2. I tried Autohotkeys but it didnt work, then wrote a small script with Python (with the help of chatGPT lol) and it works but not in game lol...Looking for another way. Do you know how?

I honestly though YT was showing me the old video. Maybe change the thumbnail a bit, Nutty! I still clicked it because I'm just that nerdy.

i followed your instructions, but my OBS-studio dosnt change Scenes i tryed to klick "test" in stream bot, and that work, and my HIDMacro registre my key press, but it seems that the 2 programs want to work togethetr

na couldnt figure it out, so i ended up skipping it and got myself the "touch Portal" and used it with an old surfpad (android) insted, and it works real good @@josedavidcastro6455

If you close HIDMacros it resets from "all files" to "Applications" again, so you need to reselect one of the application destinations, change it back to "all files" so it can see the vbs files, select the vbs file, then it all works again. Anybody know of a way to stop that from resetting?
