This game is right up your alley. Try clicking on the pencil icon left of the character name in the customization panel. It might let you change the name. Hope to see more of this! P.S. I suggest the name of Dexter for any badass animal you have as a companion 😉
Great video. Got me real interested enough to wishlist the game. One criticism though.. please, when you do gameplay videos on turn based tactical games, let us know if you can save mid battle. It's an important consideration when a lot of these games have battles that take a long time to finish. I hate spending a lot of time planning out my strategy, taking each turn carefully, only to lose all of it because I have to turn off the game for some real life reason. Thanks. EDIT - after playing demo - for anyone interested... YES, the game allows you to save anytime during combat. This game becomes a must buy for me now :)
I’m a little surprised that, with his affinity for this type of game, Odd has not yet delved into Wartales, which brings together the strategic management of a mercenary company, in a low-fantasy setting, with the turn-based tactical combat that is so favoured on this channel. Also, that game allows you to deploy animals into battle- war ponies, wolves, boars, boars crossed with crocodiles, brown bears, polar bears, mole rats, and even giant mosquitoes- all with their own skill trees.
I love that there are appearance changes. So, I am getting XCOM in Feudal Age vibes with that perma death, and being able to make your characters. I hope I am right and modding may become a thing. Kexx and Aero mods FTW! :)
Xcom inspiration is obvious. But I think there was another game 'turn based game' in a medieval setting released few years back, where in the intro cutscene, MC is seen as observing the procession of the King after winning a battle. When we are given control of the character, we are attacked by people who came searching for us and we need to go meet our friend.

Very cool idea. The XCOM vibe is obvious. I hope they can get the funding for good voice acting. Edit: oh, very close release date. Maybe better acting in the sequel.
Just a guess, but I don't thing the 4 day thing is how long the upgrade lasts, I think it may be the length of time for the upgrade to be done. The team travel time at the end was 4 days too, so maybe it meant the upgrade would be done when the team got back, but if you sent out any other teams, the upgrades wouldn't be done yet? Not sure, but that is how I was reading it.
I like tutorials, only if they further the story. Like, I want it to be the beginning. Like how Battletech did that. Remember, how you got to see the story unfold as you learned about your mech. That is the kind I like. I hate it when its just hand holding without meaning anything, unless its a Grand Strategy game, where you need to learn a lot. But squad tactics, I don't see a point.
I like the approach and the game. My problem is that it is impossible for me to use the mouse. Too much lag to move the mouse, it doesn't move where you want and the first fight took me half an hour.
Nicholas Flamel? Holy Harry Potter! I suppose the inspiration for this is the peasant revolt that swept France called the Jacquerie that occurred after the Battle of Poitiers. With the King captive and no firm government or central army the peasants unleashed a violence on the isolated nobility and their families who were murdered, raped etc. Finally united the French nobility conducted a brutal and over the top counter revolutionary actions. The arrival of the Black Death just added to the general misery. The English meanwhile just stepped back and concentrated on establishing themselves in Aquitaine.
Less. Wartales’ execution cutscenes are quite savage (and satisfying in a visceral way). This is obviously a different game but the style evokes a mix of Solasta, with its hammy voice acting and homely 3D models, and the medieval mercenaries of Wartales- just less pretty. That being said, it isn’t fair to compare a project in the early stages of development to completed games. There’s some promise here. It just needs a lot of polish.
Xcom in a fantasy world?! Well hell yeeee! Lets hope there are Orc, goblins and other fantasy monster in the game and not just humans :) Gone keep an eye on this one for sure
Bad Ai voice acting killed it for me in the intro. In the near future I m not going to be able to tell the difference but for now it destroys the immersion.
Disappointing. Only 4 in a team. Not enough healing potions etc for the crew. In spite of a large historical textual block, there seemed to be a lack of atmosphere, in the actual game. In each encounter it is unclear (no hints) as to which direction you should be going, and the 2nd encounter is brutal with the number of enemy combatants that appear. I ended up having no 'connection' to any of my crew, even though there is a tremendous character creation screen. Overwatch is almost pointless, too close and only one shot (I think ) from archers. It is a shame, I wanted to like this and I will keep watching the development.
Also, If I remember right, it did say as you upgrade the base you can upgrade the team size. You are right that they should have made the indicator a little better, but in the opening of that last mission, it did start at the church and then move to the team.
