A healthy - life giving amount of pressure is good for the creative process. But like Goldie locks - too much is not a good thing - and too little is also not a good thing - it needs to be JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT
Today, let's focus on something crucial for all creatives: pressure and how it impacts your flow.
Take the Pressure Off
Let's start with a straightforward idea: take the pressure off. So much of the pressure we put on ourselves as artists is unnecessary. And it gets in the way. It blocks your creativity, flow, and the incredible work you could bring to life.
Now, there's a difference between healthy and unhealthy pressure. A certain amount of pressure is good-after all, diamonds are just carbon that's been under pressure for a long time. But too much? Too much pressure will break whatever's inside of you before it even has a chance to become the diamond it could be.
Finding the Right Balance
Knowing your own boundaries is key. How much pressure is enough to keep you sharp, and when does it become too much? The answer will be different for everyone, but here's the secret: it's all about balance. You're in this creative life for the long game, not the short sprint. So, figure out what level of pressure is productive for your growth and what becomes crippling.
When you feel like the pressure is getting in the way, take it off. Release it. Let it go. What happens next is simple but powerful: you create space-more space to breathe, more room for creativity to bubble up.
Relaxation Is Your Creative Fuel
Here's a foundational truth: you can only be aware when you are mentally and physically relaxed. If you're not mindful, you're not present, and if you're not present, you can't do your best work.
When you ease up and give yourself room to be mentally and physically relaxed, the magic happens. You'll find yourself in the zone, aware, focused, and creating with a kind of flow that feels effortless. You'll begin writing, acting, composing, or painting from a state of overflow. And the best work comes from that overflow-your awareness, presence, and focus-.
Only You Can Create This Moment
Whatever you're creating right now-a scene, a script, or a performance-could only come from this moment. As an artist, you have grown since your last project, and whatever you create today is shaped by where you are now. In five or ten years, you'll look back and realize you couldn't have made this work the same way then-or again later-because you're constantly evolving.
So, honor where you are now. Show up fully, be present, and bring your entire self into the process. This moment is unique, and what you create today carries the awareness, growth, and presence that only exists right now.
Respect the Creative Process
Think of your creative projects like a young sapling. You wouldn't expect a sapling to bear fruit right away, would you? It takes time. You nurture it, you water it, and you let it grow. It's the same with your creative process. Don't demand that it bears fruit before it's ready. You wouldn't chop down a sapling for not producing fruit in its first season. Let it develop.
This is a long-term relationship with your creativity. It's not just about today or tomorrow but about developing your craft and yourself over a lifetime.
Final Thought: Breathe and Let it Flow
So, take the pressure off. Give yourself some space to breathe and create. Be present, be aware, and allow yourself to enter that state of overflow, where your best ideas and projects come to life. Let go of the demands and instead focus on being-the work will flow naturally from there.
Stay tuned for more insights on nurturing your creativity and moving your projects forward. Oh, and let it flow wherever it flows-you can always harness it and place form on it later.

Letting it go, take the pressure off...frequency and duration is important. Yes.
