What if the princess is actually a monster, maybe she's like a cursed princess, maybe if she looks someone in the eyes she curses them unintentionally, perhaps the curse kills them or turns them into a monster like the rest of the cheerleaders and one could actually be one that was cursed by her!.
@@drawingwiffwaffles You think you can make some magical girls or something of what would modern vampire or witches look like or a few mystical creatures like a phoenix.
The fact that you say you don't know much about cheerleading some of the uniforms you've drawn are scarily accurate lol (pardon the pun)! Beautiful job! I'm obsessed! ❤️🎃
Well thank you! I did look at some references at one point or another but I didn't really try to copy any specific ones at the time so thats really nice to hear! 💜
@@drawingwiffwaffles As a prior cheerleader, my ONLY critique is the long, unbound hair. Hair always has to be securely fastened up out of the way to keep it from catching on someone else or tangling/getting stepped on. Last thing you want when you're being thrown into a lift is for someone to step on your hair or accidentally be grabbing it when they grab your waist/arm/whatever.
I'm loving this theme! It's definitely right up your alley. The mixture of spooky and cute suits you well, and your color schemes, even when they don't quite work out on the character, are creative, and ones I'd never have thought of. Be careful with the warrior cheerleader, though. A red handprint across the face, specifically the mouth, is an image employed by Native American and First Nations peoples to highlight their silenced voices and those lives that had been lost in the past and present.
I'm not usually the athletic type but I actually want to see the game between the Royals and the Warriors I also feel like there is a Secret love story behind it I dont know it just felt like fun
hi rin! i don't know if you're gonna read this comment but i just wanted to let you know that every time i watch one of your videos you inspire me to keep drawing when i'm having a hard time even doing things i enjoy or when i don't think i'm improving and kind of want to give up on art lol so thank you for posting today as well and i hope you're taking care of yourself 💜
Those are all common and natural feelings. I've been in the same place before. It means you have high expectations for yourself. Im so proud that you push through! There's nothing that can stop you if you just keep taking small steps forward. 💜
YEP! Rin's videos always always help me through a hard time in my "art journey". She is so positive and cheerful it makes my day and makes me want to just make art and have lots of fun. I sound really cringe rn but I really do not care. Tysm Rin!
see, my first thought for royalty was something lion-adjacent mix in some lion features and boom, you have a monster girl adding sphinx or manticore traits would have been fun
The princess cheerleader could be like Princess Fiona. At night, she reveals her true self, but ofc, when she's cheerleading or around people, she appears prim and proper.
Rin: "We need some blood spatter in here, we need to get more spooky!" Me: "Awww Kasey would be so proud!" Rin *draws bloody handprint*: "Eeeeeewwwwwww!!" Me: "Well, you tried. That's the important thing right?" 😂 😂
Hi just wanted to let you know that the red handprint is often used in indigenous communities to represent the silenced/sexually-abused indigenous women and the mourning of those missing or murdered. Love your art! Just be careful with some symbolism!
AHHH GOSH I AM GETTING SO WORRIED OVER THIS, PLEASE HOPE YOU SEE THIS BECAUSE THE ART COMES OFF AS REALLY INSENSTIVE AND YOU AREN'T AN INSENSITIVE ASSHOLE AND I HOPE YOU DONT GET IN ANY TROUBLE OH GOSH
Okay I wondered if I was the only one who thought this. It feels a feather away from being a racial slur of a costume. Rin doesn’t strike me as the type to do that on purpose but still, sat wrong with my spirit.
The red hand on the face is a symbol used for MMIWG2S (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2 Spirit) so i like to think she's an activist and trying to help get women and girls home. No more missing sisters!
Is there such a thing as a cheer bow with a crown built in, actually YES! One of the teams at the cheer gym I used to cheer at had a bow with a crown made out of this like stiff glittery material and covered with those fake jewels stuck on top of it and it was very. sparkly and very. cute. note: cheer gym = organization that has several cheer teams for different ages / levels
Next time you draw cheerleaders your should make them stunting! You could draw four or three characters and I think it would be a really good way to make poses and different body types! You could also include a boy! No pressure I just thought it was a cool idea!
These are so cute! I feel like the princess could be some sort of dragon shifter maybe? Like the whole princess, dragon, and knight in shinning armor fairytale except in this case, she is the dragon. I think there was an episode of Danny Phantom with that, lol.
I know we already see it in literally every one of your videos, but have you ever considered making a video going through your process of drawing characters in detail? I'm just curious, and I wanna get some tips from you. It'd also be really entertaining because there's something super satisfying about watching you draw.
A fun challenge might be to do a picture of two or three cheerleaders in one of the lift poses! Guys are cheerleaders too, so one of them could be the base and be lifting one of the others up in one of those one-hand lifts. They're very impressive looking!
Hi! I love your videos! But... FEMININE COLORS!?!?!?!😡 WHAT THE HECK!?!?!?!?!? PINK!?!?! There is no such thing as feminine colors just as there is no such thing as "girly" colors. I am a girl and I hate pink. I am a girl and my favorite colors are red and black. What do you have to say about that??? Are you saying that those who identify as males (and other genders other than female) can't like pink?
Hey everyone! I've been drawing for 3 years and I'd say I've mastered drawing facial expressions. But I can't figure out how to draw bodies and poses. Can anyone give me any tips? (Kinda like her art style!)
Considering the handprint and how Native-appearing the warrior cheerleader looks, it's a little insensitive to show her as someone who's won a battle and is supposed to be scary. There's a lot of tribes trying to raise awareness using the handprints as a symbol of the MMIW movement to highlight the incredulous rates of missing and murdered indigenous women. No hate though!! I've been a longtime fan of the channel, I just felt very off about a character like that being made to seem violent
I had a similar feelingtowards the warrior cheerleader. Seems like an unintentional likeness to a lot of native tropes especially for a Halloween "costume like video" definitely a learning situation. Especially with the hand print connection to the missing native women.
Im thirteen, and i love to watch your videos! When im older i reeeaaallyyy want to be like you! an artist! (or a novle writter..) but you videos motivate me so much and i really like that about you! thank you!💖
you're my favorite creator. i love your attention to detail with your captions!! and your art is so fun and inspiring i just could watch you draw or talk for hours (also the lilac nails with little stars are fantastic)
I'd say steadlers waterproof fineliners are really good they are very affordable and work really good I use them for my art all the time ❤️❤️❤️ hope this is helpful
Depends on the art supply you use. If you use Alcohol markers, I recommend Microns(amzn.to/3nFr7kY) and Ohuhu(amzn.to/3w1sD4l). Whichever you can find for the cheapest at the time. For me personally I go through liners rather quickly (whether they dry out or I snap the nib). I've tried a range of prices and they seem to be similar enough where I shop for the least expensive when I need them. There are a million brands. those are just my go-to's currently. I also like the derwent line maker, but that came in a box from the UK so its not feasible to get if you live in the continent I do.
"Uh, yeah, restart please." MOOD. I absolutely love these rambling character-design videos; they are so fun to sketch along with!!! I wish I could contact you personally to ask some artsy questions. Oh, and you look super comfy in that hoodie, LOL. I really enjoyed the video!!!
For the warrior I would have made it a cursed piece of armour that a knight where’s with the cheer leader puff things and maybe some red eyes shining from the dark of the helmet. But anyways your art was really good and your idea I do love!
I have an idea for your next video make a video about "spinning wheel guide me how my characters look like" there is a app in app store and in play store try it for your next video ❤️
Idk if anyone else noticed this but the girl with the handprint on her face actually looked a lot like an indigenous woman to me. The colour scheme, the hair beading, the hair itself and the biggest thing of all, that handprint. A red handprint on the face (although more often specifically over the mouth) has become a symbol of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women movement. I know this wasnt intential on Waffles' part and she meant no discrespect though, I'm absolutely not trying to come at her, just pointing out what the design made me think of.
I’ve just had an idea!!! You could have a series where you try new mediums or types of art kind of like your clay sculpture video!! Another suggestion would be animation, etc
Fire girl and warrior girl look so cool! Especially the fire girl, I really like how you colored her. Great way to end my Halloween night, haha! Thanks, Rin! I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to come up with next. I always like seeing your ideas, you're very creative and inspiring! =)
i love these girls!! for the witch character, i think maybe having the tights be gold & black stripes instead of white & black might help? it would tie in the buckle on the hat and add a bit more oomf that seems to be missing - or maybe gold on the shoes!
I just realized that you were the one who inspired me to draw again in 2019. And now I continued watching you and other and I am on my 9th sketchbook and I am about to finish it. Thank you for inspiring me to draw again!
whoever does the captions,,, THANK YOU I APPRECIATE YOU SM !!!! its such an amazing feeling to realize the captions are legit instead of just auto generated 💗
I found the last two to be the best of this batch of monster cheerleaders. Wish you played around with the Royalty and Warrior words since they felt like they were in your usual style. I would have loved to see you do a big buff monster but you went with an Amazon which is just a really tall human in my opinion. Royalty could have been a lion (trans monster we stand) or a lioness since they are the royals of the animal kingdom and could pull in the monster theme. But all in all I enjoyed what you gave us since you slowly started loosing up to give us monsters. Nice process
I know you already post art supplies in the comments. but it would be cool if you put everything you like and use ecommend in your youtube page thingy.
This is so cute! I love the combination of Halloween and cheerleaders! Totally adorable and ever-inspiring! I’ve been doing my own challenge this October- Drawing my favorite camera shots from movies and television- and wow its been rough. Great to see someone also doing a challenge and inspiring me to continue mine.
Headcanon that the Warrior and Royalty cheerleaders are both the cheer captains for their teams and they are dating in secret. Cause opposites attract and I think that is adorable-
