Wow, I gotta say you're a gem, i always had trouble understanding displacement maps, and how to get those effects, you just made it soo easy, thank you so much, you got a subscriber. One more thing, is there any way to reduce render time while using displacement maps? Cause I always have problem using displacement map making my renders take too long.

I might eventually, but currently most of my efforts have been in learning Blender.

This was awesome! Super helpful for me. I didn't know why I was getting jagged edges on my displacements, and your tip of adding gaussian blur fixed it for me.

Hi Mel! I just wanted to say thank you for this tutorial. I've learned and understood many things from your explanation. I had many problems and I didn't know why it didn't worked as it should... But when I took your suggestion of the Triplanar node,that was my salvation...😅 So maybe, just wondering if you could make a tutorial about how to unwrap UVs? Hahaha Well anyway, thank you so much for your help and for sharing your knowledge! :)

Great tutorial!!! Thank you so much! I've picked up bits and pieces of Redshift nodes etc as I have gone along but I still feel like I only have a few border pieces of the Redshift puzzle. Most tutorials assume you already know a lot or just tell you what to select or connect which isn't always the best of help. You do the best job at describing the reasons why you do something which makes it easier to remember than just a sequence of steps!! I'll be going back to this video often as I create new materials. Today I was creating a "Cheerio" texture and was pleased with the results but the scale and UV mapping was different on the real application so it didn't work when applied. =P

That is the nicest comment. Thank you so much! 😭 I definitely have the same frustration with a lot of tutorials, that’s why I started making these, so it means a lot that you found it helpful.

Hi, thanks, you are awesome, where did you get the Razor UV plug in? btw I learned sooo much, totally subscribing. Can you make a video about how to make texture transitions in redshift with vertex maps?

Thank you so much! It’s called Rizom UV, I would check out their website, it’s pretty affordable and totally worth it! I’ll add that tutorial to my list 🙃

I like how you explain the tutorials. Thank you very much for sharing this video, it helped me a lot, but I have a question, is there any way or how I can apply a specific material to the mask, for example the "base layer" is wood and another layer is glass, the other layer is scratched paint etc etc . but just with mask not with blend material. thank you so much
@MoGraphMel
@MoGraphMel 4 года назад
Thank you so much. Yes, instead of using a color layer, what you want to use is a material blender. It looks very similar but you can pipe in different materials and use a mask in the same way. Hope that helps!

I would probably try piping your texture into a triplanar node.

Could you let me know or make a tutorial how put gradient on glass using redshift like this link pin.it/1NnTjEk ?? No every where the tutorial.. :(

Hmmm...maybe something like this tutorial from BlueFox would give you a good start m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sW5ns9bF2js.html I think you basically are going to want to pipe some kind of colored ramp into your refraction or add a coating to a base glass or water material. You could also look up iridescent material tutorials for Redshift, that might help give you a really good starting place too. I hope that helps!
